All this activity isn’t mandatory, of course – this is an equally fine location for days pottering off to local pubs, pigging out on pudding in Bakewell or taking a leisurely stroll around the Chatsworth Estate, 20 minutes away. Traditional camping in our 10 acre broadleaved woodland. Located in Oakworth in the heart of the Bronte countryside. Family friendly, you can feel safe knowing cars are only permitted in the car park so your children can run free within the woodland. Park up in the carpark near the site entrance then grab your gear and the staff will guide you to a suitable pitch for your requirements. Wheelbarrows are available to help carry your gear through the woods. Love nature? Then you’ll love this site. It’s back to basics proper camping here! We have a drinking water standpipe, we now have flushing toilets and hand wash sinks in our new toilet block. Our pitches are well spaced from one another and well sized, however, smaller tents (and/or hammocks) are recommended as our whole site is woodland there are trees within pitch areas, so we only have limited places to put large tents. Please tell us your tent size when booking so that we can get the best pitch for you. Dogs welcome. Fires allowed. We do a fire induction with everyone and charge for a fire licence, this includes if you want to bring your own firepit and wood. The reason for this is to manage the risk of forest fires and damage to the ecology so we need to put you on a suitable pitch if you wish to have a fire. We are doing all we can to improve the ecology of the woodland, so for this reason there is no burning of deadwood allowed, as rotting wood (big logs and little sticks) are fabulous for the woodland ecology.

Just an hour and a half outside of Blackpool, the Peak District is home to rolling hills, quintessential English countryside, and former spa towns like Bakewell and Buxton. Yorkshire Dales National Park

Bordered by no fewer than three Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty—the Forest of Bowland, Nidderdale, and the North Pennines—the Yorkshire Dales National Park is a fantastic destination for outdoor adventurers. Lay your head in luxe glamping pods, caravan parks, or back-to-basics campsites before visiting popular villages like Hawes, walking the Pennine Way, and geocaching, biking, or horseback riding your way through this rugged, heather-clad International Dark Sky Reserve.

Lake District National Park

There are few better places in Cumbria to take to the water, try long-distance walks, and camp, caravan, or glamp than the popular Lake District National Park. This UNESCO World Heritage site, once a key inspiration for Romantic poets, is located just an hour outside of Blackpool and is best-known for sailing, kayaking, open water swimming, and kayaking, as well as the towering (but climbable) Scafell Peak. You can also take it easy in laid-back towns like Keswick, Kendal, and Ambleside.

When to go

For beach days and ice creams, the best time to visit Blackpool is during the sunny summer months of June to September; however, this is also peak season. To enjoy the annual Blackpool Illuminations spectacular, visit between August and October, the ideal time for roasted chestnuts and hot sugared doughnuts. Spring is also a lovely season in Blackpool, although you should prepare for rain year-round in this coastal destination.

Know before you go

Blackpool is well connected by road and rail to other parts of the UK, including Preston, Manchester, and York.
It’s worth trying to catch a ride on one of the antique trams that operate the length of the Blackpool Tramway.
Blackpool is a popular hen and stag party destination, and, while generally family-friendly, the area can get especially rowdy on weekends and bank holidays. Take this into consideration when planning your trip.
