Pretty, better for families
This campsite was pretty and relaxing, but I would note that it’s rather small so if there are lots of other groups there at the same time, you’ll be in close proximity. It wasn’t as isolated as we would’ve liked, but were happy that we chose a13 because it did seem a bit more spacious than the other sites. Other campers didn’t necessarily seem to be abiding by social distancing guidelines (came close to us without masks), though this wasn’t the host’s fault. I appreciated that the bathroom was designated for one person at a time. Not sure that we’d return, but this place is good for groups and families.
Bring earplugs! b/c bullfrog party
We loved being by the water, however we were amazed that no previous online reviews mentioned the non-stop cacophony of bullfrogs ALL. NIGHT. LONG. I love the sound of crickets and expect some sounds of nature peppered throughout the night, but that first night in our tent we asked ourselves if we should pack up and leave early before the second nightfall. We got ZERO sleep that first night. Fortunately, after a call to the phone number you provided, a host kindly delivered ear plugs for our second night and though it couldn’t completely silence the orchestra of bullfrogs, it was a big improvement and we slept better. I have no doubt that other campers must really struggle with this - we couldn’t possibly be the only ones. Campers — BRING EAR PLUGS.
Also, last 20 min drive to lake is very windy with sharp switchbacks. Have a confidant driver behind the wheel, and if you are towing anything, follow instructions provided by Finnon Lake hosts when you book your stay, for alternate route.
All this said, the site was clean and the lakefront spot was dreamy. Loved being able to pull right up to our spot to easily unload, and LOVED the access to swim in the lake just feet from our tent.
