The Bar SZ Ranch is a genuine working family ranch. A few days here will immerse you in a lifestyle we love to share with others.

While onsite you are welcome to feed and groom the animals, collect chicken eggs, go horseback riding, learn to rope, go skeet and target shooting, explore the creek, hike the vista, walk a pig, snuggle a rabbit, play games, BBQ over oak, sit around the campfire, roast s’mores, soak in the stars, and more.  All ranch activities are included in your stay besides horseback riding and shooting. Horseback riding is $65/adult (over the age of 12 years) for a 90 minute session, $45/person for a 45 minute kids ride (under the age of 12 years), and shooting is $50/person (over the age of 10 years) and includes guns/ammo as well as a hayride out to our range.

Late night curfew is 10pm. Campfires in our common area are provided year-round and are included in your stay.  If you would like a private fire at your site, please bring your own firewood and fire pit.  We offer a communal oak BBQ on Saturday nights, bring your favorite grub and and we'll get the grill going.  You'll have access to two showers, two outhouses, filtered drinking water, a wash station, ice available for purchase, and our camp kitchen with oven, propane stove, and toaster oven.  We have 660 acres for hiking and exploring.  Onsite games include pool, darts, poker, horseshoes, corn hole, tether ball, foosball, basketball, and more.  Feel free to bring your favorite field games and glow-in-the dark items.

Because of all the extra activities and amenities provided in the Bar SZ Ranch experience, we do charge $50 per person per night (so for example a group of 2 people would pay $100 per night of their stay). We love to share our animals, land, and lives with our guests and are happy to include all of that in the camping price.

Our campground is located about 200 yards from the common area. Please keep in mind that this is a family establishment and excessive profanity and drinking will not be tolerated.

BONUS: We are located just a few miles from the east entrance of Pinnacles National Park. You can go climbing, hiking, explore the Talus Caves, spot wildlife, see condors, and more.

Bar SZ Ranch is a stunning property with the most hospitable land owners you’ll meet. My friends and I camped on their flat, open meadowland surrounded by views of the mountains and a picturesque farmscape. Tim & Michelle, who run the ranch, will make sure you have what you need and feel totally welcome during your stay. They have also lived very cool and inspiring lives, and are so fun to talk to.

The ranch itself is excellent for hosting large groups, and there are so many fun things to experience! We took a couple hikes on the property, rode horses before sunset (costs $, but is cheap), explored the ranch, pet the goats and other farm animals, grilled our dinner on their large outdoor BBQ, and hung out by the fire pit at night. One of the most eventful camping trips I've been on! Then on our way home we stopped for another hike in Pinnacles National Park which is only 10 minutes away from Bar SZ Ranch. Such a cool bonus hike!

In terms of amenities, there is a nice little bathroom, shower, and kitchen sink in a cute outdoor building. When we visited in November it was 75 during the day and 40 at night — so be sure to bring layers! Also, their calendar fills up quickly, so if you are lucky enough to book a stay here then start preparing for an unforgettable camping experience!!

A fair value and nice people. It’s was a prefect spot to camp with our child for the weekend. The small pool was imperfect but much appreciated option to beat the 90 degree heat during the day. The hosts and staff were hospitable and made safety a top priority, except when it came to wearing masks. No one from the camp operations and ranch crew wore masks at any point in time during our stay. With new groups of guests arriving on a regular basis I thought this was unwise. Most of the guests didn’t wear masks either. We wore masks whenever we were in close proximity to anyone and then just tried to stay away from other guests and staff, which was pretty easy most of the time because of the size of the property and open outdoor environment. I was a bit disappointed that the entire staff decided that safety was a top concern when it came to safety around guns and animals but chose not to follow health guidelines for infectious disease during a pandemic.

This place is a diamond in the rough. Tim and Rebekah were incredibly hospitable and accommodating. The land is vast and beautiful. All the activities were great and as described. I highly recommend doing a weekend on the range.

This is a place unlike any we’ve been to. For a brief moment, we got to experience the way of the cowboy. Here you get to mosey on into what it is to be a true rancher. Guided by a family that embraces you as their own, you’re transported to a different time where things were hard but simpler.

Thank you Tim (who helped us shoot and talk straight), Michelle (who tolerated my ramblings by the campfire late at night), Kailey (who dazzled with her magical talents and taught us to whirlpool), Colton (the truest and kindest of all cowboys) and Maddie (the greatest ghost in the graveyard ever there was). You all changed us to the core and will never be forgotten.

Hope to see you again under the shadow of the Steelhead Mountain...

This is probably the best place to stay if you're looking to hike Pinnacles while also having some other really fun things to do. We didn't expect much, but were blown away by the hospitality, the site, the animals, and most importantly, the hosts. Tim and Michelle are really special - authentic, kind, and generous. Their kids are phenomenal - Colton taught us to shoot and Kylie taught us how to groom horses. The land has a definite energy about it, so if you're just looking to lay low and stare up at the trees (which we did), it's perfect for that too. I highly recommend staying here, you'll be glad you did. Thank you to Tim and Michelle for your incredible generosity, stories, and care.

This place is a hidden gem! I brought my 6 year old daughter here for 2 days to escape COVID boredom and before school starts back up. It definitely exceeded our expectations. There are a few things that made the trip extra special: 1) Tim, Michelle, and their kids are awesome hosts! They are so welcoming and kind, and they really make everyone feel at home. You can tell their hearts are in the right place and they want everyone to enjoy and get the most out of their experience. You can tell this is their passion and they all do their part to make the ranch what it is. Ask them any questions you have - the kids know more than most adults about how farming works. 2) There are so many different animals and you can interact with - pigs, sheep, goats, horses, rabbits, kittens, dogs, ducks, cows, donkeys, ponies, and more. Within minutes of arriving, my daughter was holding newborn kittens and bottle-feeding a calf. She loved every minute of it. 3) The land itself is really rugged and beautiful. It's secluded, and has a storied history dating back to the 1800s when stagecoach trails passed nearby. The property also has some awesome fossils and Native American relics that have been discovered. Tim and Michelle have really revitalized the ranch and are restoring it to its former glory.

The campsite was spacious, shaded, and had a great view of the stars. In the midst of the pandemic, we felt safe spending 100% of our time outdoors. We wore masks as an extra precaution, and some of the other guests did as well. The communal spaces are all outdoors with breezy airflow.

The only disappointment, which is very minor, is that the river and watering hole were dry at this time of year (early August). We would have enjoyed swimming, but there were plenty of other activities...

I'd highly recommend this to anyone looking to get away, especially if you have younger kids. My daughter was thrilled and had a great experience, even asking if we can come back on her birthday! We'll definitely come back soon.

It was beyond brilliant. We had such an incredible time. I couldn't recommend this campsite enough. Go horse riding, find the swimming hole, make smores and check out the stars. You'll love it.

We camped as a group of 8 for a weekend (Fri - Sun) in early-to-mid September. We had 3 cars and 5 tents that were easily accommodated in the camping area of the property. Tim greeted us upon arrival - even after dark (9pm) - to ensure we were settled properly and to see if we needed anything.

The location of the property is gorgeous - in a valley with a breath taking view of the mountains to the eastern part of the property. The first night the fog had rolled in and we were able to watch it burn off. The second morning was clear and we were able to see the sunrise over the mountains.

We didn't take advantage of many of the activites on the property except using the bonfire both nights and the grill the second night. Tim kindly provided us with a smaller grill for our group to use - the normal one in the dining area would have been too large.

A picnic table isn't provided with the campsite and that was the only we wished was provided as part of the campsite.

It is hard to find generosity, rustic, comfort, uniqueness in a experience wrapped into one. But Bar SZ Ranch has it all. Ive traveled many places and and this one will stick with me...
- Beauty all around you. From the mountains and rolling grasslands, to creaks, wildlife, the ranch itself.
- The hosts–Tim, Michelle, and their children make you feel like your part of the family. After a few days with them, I was sad to leave. Shooting, riding, feeding the animals, and just hanging by the fire at night, they really make sure their guests have what they need and become part of the experience. Hardworking, kind folks.
- The lodging. We camped, which was great. We're not experts so the access to charging or water, a campfire for cooking, or a fresh egg from the hen house when we broke ours was what we we were looking for to make the camping experience easy. Super easy setup. Drove in right to the sight and setup. But there are so many other options–the tents are awesome for groups, and the houses are very nice as well. Everyone comes together at night to hang by the fire and the bar.
- The activities–definitely ride, shoot, and hang by the fire. And just walk about the property. Beautiful spots all around.

Love this place and will definitely return with friends!
