Want a better idea of what your experience will be like at
"The Lavish Country Retreat"?
Let me paint you a picture.....
Its quiet, there is a faint smell of pine and fir tree that comforts and familiarizes the senses. Yours eyes relax to the soft glow of candles as your gaze settles on the dancing flame in the pellet stove. Music plays softly in the background and a hint of lavender relaxes the body further, allowing you to sink into the extra deep microfiber couch, and as one hand caresses a fur throw the mind drifts from a state of relaxation to a sound slumber, and you dream….
The dream draws you to a quaint cottage that upon your entry embraces you with warmth, attentiveness, and elaborate comfort. A grand lodge pole bed fit for a Queen (size) greets you beyond the door, and as you throw yourself upon it ready to embrace time standing still, you realize the bed is fitted with a memory foam pad atop a beauty rest mattress topper that feels “just right”, not too firm, not too soft (Goldilocks and Princess and the Pea approved), and with it sitting 3 feet 3 inches off the ground you realize you will be “sleeping on cloud 9”. Before you drift off, a breeze of fresh air caresses your cheek and you look up to see the ceiling fan gently rotating with a standing fan bringing the fresh country air from outside. You become motivated to move about and explore your new home.
As you dream deeper you see your family and friends have joined you in the cottage, eager to retreat from the hussle and bussel of busy everday life. Mom wants to wash the grim of the city off and is surprised to find her favorite shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion, Avalon Lavender Organic Essentials, stocked in the bath, and she promptly fills the tub full of bubble bath and soaks in the fragrant waters. Your close friend is excited to cook a hearty meal and with a fully equipped kitchen (oven, stove, full size refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher) finds all the necessary utensils and spices to become the gourmet chef he has always dreamed of. Your Dad digs deep into the entertainment hutch and before he can put the flat screen TV, DVD player, and DVD library to good use, becomes distracted by a Directory listing activities and local sites, and begins planning his adventures for the coming days by utilizing the library of travel and recreation books and maps that are so readily available. Suddenly, you hear some commotion outside and everyone goes to the window to look. Your younger brother is playing in the backyard near the duck pond with the friendly black lab Boon. He is excited because he has just returned from his bike ride along the river and considering there are extra loaner bikes he wants to show everyone what he has discovered. He brags of hikes behind waterfalls, and climbing to the top of Bohemia Mountain, and is now in full adventure mode to play with all the animals on the farm and continues enjoying the fresh air in the large fenced yard. You notice the beach basket in the closet filled with towels, sunscreen, floaties, hats, sunglasses, water bottles, and beach toys and rush off with your brother to discover the rivers and lakes nearby.
You return to the cottage after exploring all you could explore and like any dream things seem a bit different than you left them. The linens and towels have been refreshed and laid out for use, that candles are glowing softly in the dimmed lighting, there is hot water for tea, micro fleece robes have been laid out with slippers, and the fire in burning brightly. You wonder what enchanted faery (AKA turndown service, free of charge) could have known exactly what you needed to feel at home and relaxed. Realizing you need to tell someone of this experience to make it sure it is true, you plug your ipod into the docking station (or aux connection) to play your favorite mellow music and settle into the pillow laden couch, drag a cozy blanket over you and begin writing your story to email to your friends (because there is Wifi).
The phone rings (yes, landline) you wake up and look around, you are in the cottage from your dream. The phone rings again, are you still dreaming? The phone rings and you answer it, Alyssa is calling to ask if everything in the cottage is to your liking. She reports that breakfast will be delivered in 10 minutes and asks if you would like cream and sugar in your coffee or tea. You say thank you, hang up the phone, shake your head, and awaken to realize that your dream has become a reality.
Access to the entire cottage with a private entry and key, private fenced backyard, and charcoal BBQ. You are welcome to tour the farm we have fruit trees, a big garden and berry patches. Interact with the animals of plenty or visit the pond that attracts wildlife and all different types of birds (Drys up in late summer). Take a walk into the old growth fir and cedar trees to the bench resting at the top of our property. Access to Wi-Fi and a landline, onsite free parking and bicycles to ride in the neighborhood.

The vibe at Lavish Country Retreat
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
Located approximately two hours south of Portland, and only 20 minutes south of Eugene, Lavish Country Retreat is the ideal location for a getaway from city life. Alyssa and Erik are extremely gracious hosts and made sure our stay was pleasant and care-free.
After arriving we took full advantage of the relaxing ambiance of the cottage and relaxed in front of the wood pellet stove, finalizing the details of our fire tower trip the following day. Once night fell we enjoyed the myriad of stars visible directly above the backyard. The next morning we were treated to an incredible breakfast brought right to our door by Alyssa. After breakfast we went on a meet-and-greet tour of the resident animals: chickens, ducks, and goats! From there we went on a stroll through a peaceful hiking trail in the forest behind the cottage, spotting various spring wildflowers beginning to show their faces. Next was a quick trip to the swimming hole just a short walk away. It’s a bit early for a swim but it was a great spot to relax and hunt for agates. Finally we drove to the nearby lake to enjoy lunch before resuming our long drive to southern Oregon.
Overall it was such a relaxing, laid back and entertaining experience that we can’t wait to head back next time we’re in the area!
Dog owners: the cottage also has its own fenced-in backyard, so your pup(s) can romp without worry. BONUS: Have a high-energy + friendly dog? Boone, the family dog, is super friendly and will gladly help tire your pooch out!
Best place to stay!!!! We can't wait to come here for our honeymoon:) so many level animals to play with, a fresh hot breakfast, a super nice clean room with all the fixings and they even had a sign for my birthday:) staying here was the best part of our trip to Oregon
We enjoyed our stay. The highlight was probably the swimming hole across the street, which was really nice and peaceful - shallow eddy that was wonderful for our 2.5-yr-old. The animals were a lot of fun. My toddler spent quite a lot of time picking up rotten tomatoes off the ground in the garden and sticking them through the fence for the chickens and pigs. The hosts were very nice, and we felt welcome. The only note I would make is that many things were a little rougher around the edges than we imagined from the ad. It was fine, but was just a bit of an expectation mis-match. All in all it was a wonderful mini vacation!
Sweet Springs Family Farm is a wonderful place to stay: Spacious and artfully decorated, a big cozy bed, wonderful lavender bath products, a kitchen equipped with everything you need and fresh tomatoes from the garden to compliment your meal. The hosts are very accommodating and the muffins they bring in the morning make you feel very taken care of. The country road out to the farm is beautiful. I highly recommend staying here and meeting this family and all their pets, especially the bottle fed abandoned fawn!
