Carl & Vicki's land is a working cattle/bison ranch that sits on the Dakota-Nebraska Eroded Tableland. It is a diverse landscape of canyons, prairie, streams and ponds. Carl's grandmother filed a homestead claim on this ranch in 1914. We are close to the Niobrara Scenic River, Smith Falls, Fort Falls, and Fort Niobrara Wildlife Refuge. Birding, hiking, stargazing and canoeing are a few of the activities for the person who wants to experience the peace and quiet of this beautiful landscape. Educational bison/prairie tours are available. This campsite overlooks the Niobrara National Scenic River. Campers can explore the canyons and the prairie. Wildlife viewing may include deer, bison, eagles, hawks, songbirds, migrating birds, coyotes and porcupine. Mountain biking is allowed. This property abuts the Fort Niobrara National Wildlife Refuge Wilderness area and campers must aquire permission from the Refuge to access this Federal land. There are numerous outfitters for kayaking and canoeing the Niobrara River. Campsite owners offer private bison tours. This is a premier area for star gazing.
