There’s plenty to do around Kilkeel, including sailing cruises, canoeing, kayaking, mountain biking, hillwalking, climbing, and dedicated adventure centres like East Coast Adventure. Kilbroney Forest Park is set on an estate overlooking the lough. The fishing town of Kilkeel is right at the corner of County Down, at the foot of the Mourne Mountains and along the scenic Mourne Coastal Route. The town is also within easy reach of the Mourne Mountains for hillwalking or scenic drives—try the Whitewater Scenic Loop, which starts in town, or head to the mouth of Carlingford Lough, the sea inlet that borders the Republic of Ireland.
