About the 48 acres of land: Heritage Hills farms is located where the beautiful Montana prairie meets the rolling Foothills. Meandering coolies and steep hills beckon to be explored here. The hand of man has not shaped this land. A truly glorious sight to look around you and not be able to see any man made things. Natural sights include ancient teepee rings, amazing sunsets overlooking the Milk River, and the simple, subtle beauty of the Montana hi-line. It is very quiet and the stars shine very bright here on a clear night.
What's near by?: Enjoy some great fishing on Nelson reservoir (9.3 miles away) take a nice swim and soak in the wonderful Sleeping Buffalo Hot Springs (13.4 miles away) jump in a cool clear pond or have a great fishing session at Cole Ponds (5.3 miles away). Saco is only 6 miles down the road and has a nice little grocery store with a world class butcher/deli. (Some really great meat products) post office, bar, pay at pump gas station. Get your ultra fresh free range duck and chicken eggs which are laid at Heritage Hills Farms daily from your friendly HipCamp Host!

Buffalo Camp is our most remote lodging option. Located on the rolling sage/shortgrass prairie of our Sun Prairie property, which is home to a herd of American plains bison, prairie dog towns, pronghorn, and more. The campground is located 4 miles north of the Charles M. Russell National Wildlife Refuge, and is close to a variety of recreation opportunities. Tent sites and RV spaces are available to reserve, and guests have access to vault toilets, an amphitheater, group pavilions, and a 1-mile hiking trail.
Buffalo Camp is open year-round. The campground is a self-service facility accessible on gravel and unimproved roads with a high clearance AWD/4WD vehicle in dry conditions. Reservations are required and must be made online.

What a lovely site! Very private with great views. Scott was very communicative and gave great directions and we wish we had fridge space for his organic eggs and veggies! We had only one night but would stay there again in a heartbeat.

This place is wonderful and is - for me - why hipcamp spots can be so special. The land is beautiful and a place I never otherwise would have been able to stay/camp while driving across the country. We had such a wonderful time and wished we could stay longer to enjoy the spot.
Advice to visitors (at least in June 2025) to bring some kind of bug repellent (they're out in the area). Not biting - but can be a pain if you're not prepared.
Unequivocally recommend this spot!

This was our first time boondocking in our 35 foot Montana fifth-wheel, and our first time using a HipCamp. It was awesome. Scott escorted us up onto a bluff with a view. There was a fire ring we could have used, but we used our Solo Stove instead. The land is semi-arid and there weren't any trees, just some little cactuses and scrub brush. But the SKY was super clear, and there wasn't anyone within eye site or earshot. Totally private. We wanted zero neighbors! We enjoyed the sunset and the clear view of the stars.
We bought some chicken eggs and got a few duck eggs also. Very yummy; better than the grocery store any day.
Scott and Cassie were super friendly. Due to windy weather on our way to their farm from the night before in MN, we were running about 2 hours late upon arrival. We communicated with Scott multiple times and he replied back promptly. If this hadn't been just an overnight on our larger trip from Indiana to West Glacier National Park, we would have stayed another night or two.
We definitely recommend checking out the farm!

This was such a beautiful place! My friend and I had the most beautiful spot on top of the hill! The pups even came to hang out!! Very well behaved and made us feel safer to say the least 😂! We will definitely book again if we ever are in the area again.

Scott and his fiancée were extremely nice and inviting. They were very accommodating and helpful when finding a place to tent up. They offered a tour of the farm, which we took up on, it was super cool. The landscape was beautiful and breathtaking. They have three dogs that were super friendly and loved to hang out with us. Definitely recommend staying there if you get a chance because I know for sure that I will if I get another opportunity!
