Donald’s land is one for the Hipcamp books! He and his wonderful wife, Christina, were the most welcoming and kind hosts I have ever had the privilege to meet.
They supplied firewood, a fire pit, water, & a picnic table and at any time I had a request or a question they would greet the situation with a smile and a solution.
Hands down, one of my favorite camping sites in my young life I would definitely recommend to a family or friend.

Vincent was a great Hipcamper. He was very friendly and it was a pleasure hosting him. He left the campsite looking like he had never been there. I highly recommend him to other hosts.

Great little place with an awesome view of the valley. The road up to the site is a bumpy one, but doable if you have decent clearance. There is running water down at the main entrance to the property which is nice. Other than that it’s just you, the neighboring cows and the occasional deer!

Had a great time staying at Don’s Hilltop Hideaway! It was just what I wanted out of my stay in the Bitterroot. The spot is very private, nestled against some trees on the property. Nice views of the valley below and a couple of the peaks to the west. It was a very peaceful and quiet night and morning, only hearing the sounds of wildlife.

I was happy in my 4wd vehicle to take the extra trek up to the hilltop, but it’s not somewhere I would want to tow a trailer. I also had a little trouble finding a perfectly level spot at the site itself, which didn’t bother me, but if you’re used to a flat, groomed campsite this might not be for you.
