Lake Arrowhead Campground stands out as a unique family-owned and operated destination, steeped in history and community spirit. Established in the 1970s by Bea and Arnold Malsack, this campground is nestled in a picturesque blend of farmland and forest in eastern Marquette County. Named after the arrowheads discovered in the area, Lake Arrowhead Campground opened its doors in 1971 with just a dozen campsites and a quaint camp store. From the beginning, the campground was primarily run by the Malsack family, including Arnold, Bea, their son Phil, and Phil's fiancée Linda. Phil and Linda, who married on the campground property in 1973, balanced their roles at the campground with full-time jobs, with Phil dedicating 22 years to the Marquette County Sheriff's Department. In 1975, they officially took ownership of the campground, living in a small house adjacent to the camp store. As the family grew, so did their vision for the campground. In the early 1980s, Phil and Linda welcomed three children—Emily, Jessica, and Adam—who spent their summers enjoying the campground and making lifelong friendships.
