Wild Hearts on Whidbey

Wild hearts has welcomed us twice now, this time I brought friends. It was a nice way to blend our group, one friend has a trailer, one sleeps in her Subaru, and I sleep in my VW Camper. Site #2 fit our 3 vehicles, 3 people and 3 leashes dogs easily. Well 2.5 dogs, Panda is tiny. Burn ban was still on, but there is a nice fire ring for when allowed. We heard owls and coyotes at night as we watched the stars. The first night the dogs in the neighborhood barked for a long time, but we figured it was due to the coyotes and appreciated them keeping the coyotes away. There were clean PortaPotties, and one had a sink with water. Dozens of varieties of birds could be heard in the am and pm, ravens flew over regularly, and we sleep safe and cozy at night.

Loved the site. It was remote enough to not feel like other campers were on top of us. The trees kept the tents cool on sunny days. We were visited by the resident horses whose enclosure is next to the site. Overall it was a great trip.

Red Top “tepee”

We loved our stay at Wild hearts. We stayed in the teepee group site and it was perfect for three families. Very peaceful and secluded. The only minor inconvenience was that we had to walk about down the hill to another campsite a to get water, so we were glad that we brought our jugs with us.

Lovely property! Site 1 is nice and spacious with a sturdy picnic table and some benches around the a fire pit. Port a potties were freshly serviced when we arrived. There is one outdoor sink by the port a pottie that is closest to the entrance, so a bit of a walk from site 1, but not bad. There is also a spigot at the “pit stop” with a charging outlet (no charger or cord). I would definitely come back here in the future!

Well laid out and close to Langley

The camping area is in a large clearing surrounded by forest; the sites sit along the perimeter of the clearing and each site backs up to the forest with good separation between sites. Very quiet, no road noise, could hear owls at night and wildlife, and birdsong. The porta potties were clean; there is a washing station and fresh water source. Sites were level for our rig (Site 2). There is also a group site that is in its own clearing and away from the individual sites. There was a large group there while we camped and the separation from the single sites worked well so that no one intruded on the other. Owers are very responsive and helpful. The property is just outside of Langley, so it feels private but just a few minutes drive into town. Definitely recommend.

The host was responsive to a noisy neighbor which I appreciated. Our tent campsite had good table and bench and fire pit. The downside was it was mostly a slope and the blackberry bushes were all throughout the camping area. There was a tiny area we could pitch our rent but we had a hard time avoiding stepping in blackberry bushes unless we were very careful. I would definitely recommend coming in daylight because it's difficult to find the one bathroom with a sink next to it in the dark. If they could dig up the blackberry bushes and flatten the site a bit more it would feel worth the money. I'd rather go on federal land next time.

Not as Expected

The friendly farm friends (ducks, chickens & horses) were a nice treat. The details of the space weren't clear as advertised, which required some adjusting for our stay: The floors and provided blankets were covered in dog hair when we arrived, the tubs under the sink meant to catch water leaked all over the floor, the 2nd bed was stored up above the built-in room (unreachable) and there were no instructions on how to turn off the (albeit very cute) overhead lights. The host was very accommodating to our 3 cars and responsive to concerns. The decor was cute, and the space was easy to find.

For what I needed, flat parking, and a rest room it fit the bill. Meadow is lovely and a nice job on the natural edged outdoor clean up station. The pit stop put me in the back of some shed with nothing pleasant to look at. The other sites seemed to be much nicer.

Nice location close to Langley. The Pit had power and water hookups as well as a covered picnic table. There is a massive fire pit that is sure to be amazing during campfire season. Big open sky area for star gazing. The parking pad is slightly sloped so bring your levelers.

Star 3 site is ok, but definitely for one tent. We made it work for us, but that area could be more level. It had water which we needed. The porta-potties were all full when we checked in on Saturday— and there was a party of 15 and another party of 4-6, so there wasn’t much we could do about the bathroom situation. (On Monday they were clean and empty.) I personally felt it was a bit overpriced for what was offered. Love the island, love the area. Some minor improvements with leveling the sites and bathroom could be made.

Beautiful, clean and easy-to-use site! We had to pivot plans last minute and the Pit Stop was a perfect place to crash before heading out for a hike in the morning.

It was such a beautiful spot to camp for a couple of days. Rochelle was so nice and accommodating. It’s nestled in a gorgeous forest and the Porterpotties are very clean.

Was probably great before…

The site felt very private and easy to find. With cute details … but they weren’t unkept at all. Wish they had picked it up and swept the deck before we got there, there was some small debris left from someone prior and the amount of pine needles and pinecones made it clear it hasn’t been touched in a while. The porta-potty was full, unclean and smelled foul in the heat, and there were just rolls of TP sitting on the side since the holders had all been used. Cute idea and a great start but some better upkeep would’ve made it feel more comfortable and like they care about it. Seems forgotten about.

Very fun getaway spot within easy driving distance of Langley and other Whidbey attractions. The Glasshouse was cute and the bed was cozy. It was fun listening to the chickens and horses through the windows. The kitchen had most of the basics we needed (plates, cutlery, cast iron pan) but bring your own coffee mugs if you plan on hot beverages.

We stayed at the Pit Stop site and it was Awesome. Super large site with cute lights around a large fire pit. Burn ban so no fires but we used the covered picnic table to play cards and hang out. Very quiet and the hosts were very responsive! We will come again.

Quiet camping in field with trees.

This was our first adventure with Hipcamp, the site was quiet and we enjoyed hearing the numerous varieties of birds in the morning! We used Merlin app to identify those that were new to us while sipping our morning coffee. The Port-a-potty was clean, and the host was responsive to questions. Other guests had pitched tents in our site #2 out of confusion, easily resolved by us taking #1 instead. Other campers were friendly, and things were spread out enough that we didn’t hear other campers at night. We recommend and would happily stay here again!

The camp was quiet with plenty of distance between sites. Three portable toilets available and a sink setup with potable water. The portable toilets needed tending and sanitizer and our site *3 was very uneven with no level spots for tents or vehicles( not apparent from photos) The other sites looked fine.
