The Glendale Farm

I would not recommend this site for anyone with small kids or anyone that interacts with the ground. The host has done an amazing job cleaning up the land from it's previous state, but there are still quite a few pieces of glass and other sharp metal object in the ground in the camping areas. We visited for a family camping trip over labor day weekend and left after one night once we discovered that it would be impossible to prevent our crawling 9 month old from coming across sharps in the ground for the rest of the weekend. The host was gracious enough to refund our remaining nights, and they have done an amazing job on the journey of restoring the land, and creating a community oriented space, but it was just not something we could deal with.

As the listing describes (and as other reviewers have noted), Glendale farm is a work in progress. And while I commend the effort, and hope they'll get it cleaned up, this spot is NOT worth $52 a night including fees for 2 people. The porta potties are full, disgusting and are approaching a public health issue. I'm a seasoned camper and clean toilets are the bare minimum requirement for a paid camping spot. I talked with Seth on the phone before I arrived, and he told me he knew the porta potty near the Silo was full and we should use the ones by the other Gazebo site. We did, and those were disgusting too. Seth should add more porta potties and/or get them serviced more often. I'm rooting for the Farm -- the location is great, the animals charming and it was fun to see the working farm. But basic cleanliness is essential if you're going to charge people to camp on the farm.

Proper expectations, highly recomme

I needed a last minute place to car camp after a friends reception at Finnriver, and Glendale farm fit the bill! It’s about as close as you can get to Finnriver, and an easy 10 min walk down a gravel road and the side of the highway. Seth was wonderful, called me right away to make sure I was prepared, and let me know up front that it was going to be a very busy night at the farm. I really appreciate that he went out of his way to make sure I had proper expectations, and my experience exceeded that! The access to sinks/potable water, and cooking space is wonderful, although I didn’t make use of them. He has portapotties for toilets, which isn’t ideal but I fully expected it and he made sure to show me which ones were the least full (it’s difficult to get someone out there to empty them more than once a week, so I think Seth is doing great working within his constraints). I noticed other reviews mentioning the working livestock guardian dogs, and it was a pleasure to see them. They did bark at night, but only when new people came onto the site, and this all stopped by about 10pm, silent the rest of the evening (but I assume it there had been coyotes around they may bark in the middle of the night). I can see amazing potential in this site in a few more years with real plumbed bathrooms, but even in the meantime I think Seth has created a really wonderful experience and is filling a much needed gap in the area!

Absolutely wonderful stay at Glendale Farm. The location is gorgeous—peaceful, open, and surrounded by lush farmland. I spent some time walking around the property and loved discovering all the interesting old relics tucked around the farm. There’s a lot of character here, and it was genuinely fun just wandering around and taking it all in. The host was incredibly kind and attentive. Before my stay, he even took the time to talk with me on the phone and answer my questions, which I really appreciated. I felt very welcomed and well taken care of. Beautiful property, wonderful host, and a really memorable place to spend the night. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend Glendale Farm!

My partner and I stayed at the Glendale farm for a romantic weekend and it was so amazing! A great location for beautiful sunsets, stargazing, and hanging around farm animals. There was even a community kitchen and showers. Super cozy atmosphere!

Seth’s place was very unique and conveniently located near grocery stores, a cidery, and lots of great nature spots. Our group had plenty of space and she shared kitchen was an added bonus! We had a great time!

It’s a nice farm, but the allocated space for the campsite was vague. As per the listing description, we were under the impression that we would get the gazebo area to ourselves, but there was a large group and another couple in the same campsite. The fire pit is a communal campfire that the group was using - the group was so sweet (shoutout to Allie). But we were expecting more privacy since there is no indication of the campsite being “communal” or “shared” in the listing. The host never greeted us nor did they message me.

The host is very kind and welcoming. The farm is beautiful. If camping in the silo field, and if you're sensitive to noise while you sleep, the livestock guardian dogs do bark occasionally throughout the night. So bring earplugs. It's very close to good food, and awesome farm stands, so we didn't really need to go to a grocery store. The shared kitchen is adorable, but a little rustic, so bring some kitchen implements.

Won’t book again dog poop everywher

We called ahead like asked to let the host know when we’d show up, he said he’d be available around 7. When we arrived there was a lot of dog poop around our tent making difficult and gross to get in. No response till very late and wasn’t cleaned up till morning when we were leaving.

Stayed in the silo field. The location was fantastic right down the road from Finn River cider. The dogs were extremely loud late into the night and very early in the morning. The host was really great but I would not stay again due to the dogs.

Beautiful, convenient location! Needs prep before guests arrive! Host quickly had someone come clean up after a large dog in front of the tent, but there was more to clean up the next morning due to unleashed dogs from guests. Port a potties were unstable and unclean without toilet paper. It was over 2 weeks since last logged cleaning and one had maggots all over the seat due to water level being low. Farm was beautiful and quirky. Barn was beautiful with lights at night. Just needs more attention and will be a great place!

What a lovely place with impeccable vibes. Seth was very smart about how to best space out campers on a busy weekend. Felt private and communal. All great folks. There is a beautiful community kitchen space that was fabulous! Coffee maker, stove, dishes, fridge if needed, sink. Note that there are working livestock guardian dogs on the property. Their job is barking when necessary. They were appropriate barkers and very sweet.

We had the gazebo site. Very different from park camping. We were a large family group & luckily we had the site to ourselves, but there was a possibility there could have been other campers sharing the site & amenities. There were also a couple of yurt sites very near, also luckily unused. We could have been sharing the 2 porta-potties with many others had they booked at the same time. Watching the farmers & walking in the farm was fun. The owl in the silo was a hit as well as the dogs, sheep, horses, chickens, geese & turkeys. The camp host was very friendly & accommodating. He showed us how to use a cider press. He was also able to give us ideas of fun places to go.

July 4 weekend in the Silo field

This is a beautiful piece of farmland with an interesting history. It is in the process of being restored by Seth and his siblings. It’s only a stone’s throw from Finn River cidery and across the road from Red Dog farm, which has an amazing farm stand. There is a nice hike that you can access without a car, as well. We enjoyed our stay very much!

Seth was very inviting and personable making us feel very welcome at the farm. The location was perfect, super close to finnriver cidery and the farmer market at the corner store. Bathrooms were clean and the tent was furnished with two pretty comfortable cots. There are animals like ducks and chicken that were fun to watch and were distanced far enough that one cant hear them which would be great for little ones. I would highly recommend glendale farm to anyone looking for a place to stay.

Calm in the Storm

We love this place! It has the perfect ‘local’ vibe - warm, friendly, helpful, and gracious people on a beautiful working farm. There is community and privacy in a nice balance, and is perfect for our tent camping- which I like to do to save money when in the area. Even on a stormy weekend (in late October!) I was able to make it work with Seth’s help, and I was very grateful. Yes it is a work in progress, but isn’t everything in life? I feel safe and at home here when I stay. It is our second visit, and it will not be our last.

It’s Important for people looking for a Hipcamp site to know that this is a working farm. We loved it for that reason! It’s a beautiful property and our campsite was near the turkeys and geese. Once again. We loved this and purchased fresh eggs. we camped during pumpkin season and it was really cool to camp right by the pumpkin fields.. Seth is an amazing host. He’s a nice guy who is working to make this property nice for visitors. Everyone staying or working on the property were really nice. The location is walking distance to Finn River Cidery. This was a bonus! I highly recommend this place to people who are not looking for glamping. Thanks Seth. We will be back.

Only had a chance to stay 1 night as I was just passing through the area with my Golden Retriever Charlie. Arrived later than expected but the folks there helped me find the spot to setup. Great experience and loved the goats and horses!! Will definitely stay there again if I find myself back in the area!!
