This is a 24 acre farm with about 3,500' of frontage on the Entiat River. The land's history has included use as pasture, orchards, and flower farm. It's currently identified as a USDA type silvopasture farm. The priority crop is growing native fir trees that will be harvested in 60+ years as lumber / telephone poles. During this time, the land will be grazed by a variety of livestock balanced to keep fields and animals healthy and productive. The current owners purchased the farm fall of 2023 from a family estate that owned it since the 1970s. It is considered a legacy 25+ year project to bring it back into full production. Currently, the land is undergoing Firewise work to clear it of fallen and dead trees along with undergrowth. Knowing fires sweep this canyon regularly, the goal is to minimize fuel and support the chance old growth trees will survive and provide maximum summer shade for returning salmon. During the 2026 grazing season, the NE pasture of 5 acres along the river has 9 Katahdin Sheep. In Spring 2026, 2 bison were added into the SE pasture of 7 acres that climbs the mountain along the west border. Additional bison plan to be added later in the year along with a herd of larger meat type goats. The current Caretaker has identified over 100 native species on the property of all types. These include eagles, osprey, red tail hawks, killdeer, owls, blue jays, chickadees, beaver, martin, American Dippers, blue herons, waterfowl, bats, mushrooms, deer, elk, cougar, bear, coyotes, bobcats, and a variety of other interesting birds and bugs abound. The entire farm is very private with very little traffic if any. You may see the caretaker out and about with a helper, but that’s about it. Any of the sites that you select will typically be very private unless you pick one around the tractor shop.Come experience a private and unique opportunity to camp along a beautiful river on startup bison farm. These sites just opened this summer. It is a place for birders, walkers, mountain bikers, naturalists, mediators, naturists, and others who enjoy nature, quiet mornings, star-filled nights, wildlife watching, and a genuine connection with the land. Because this is an active farm, camping locations vary with the season and farm activities. In general, guests can choose from several level, comfortable camping areas located within 20–50 feet of the river. Often we host only one camping group per night, allowing you to enjoy an unusually private and peaceful riverside experience. Please know campsites are not in a bison pasture. The farm offers approximately 3,500 feet of river frontage, with a walking and biking trail along much of the property. Guests can explore the river, relax on their own private beach area, enjoy sunny riverside rocks, or climb up and find scenic viewpoints overlooking the canyon. Additional connecting dirt roads extend in many directions for those wanting to explore by bike, foot, or vehicle. Rising dramatically to the west is the Glacier Peak Wilderness, with peaks reaching over 9,000 feet. Tent and car campers have access to a flush toilet located in the farm equipment shop, or a river expedition toilet with an exceptional view. A unique feature of the farm is our freshwater “hippie hot tub” — a simple, rustic soaking tub located beside the caretaker’s barn where guests can relax while enjoying the surrounding scenery. (Water drains naturally back into the farm field.) This is a start up farm focused on raising grass fed meat such as bison, goat, and lamb. The bison are fascinating, intelligent, and enjoyable to watch, but they must always be treated with respect. Guests will have the opportunity to join the caretaker for a daily fence check and guided walk on the farm and along the river. For the safety of both guests and animals pets must remain on a leash, or under the control of owners at all times. A dog getting close to a pasture may be viewed as a threat by the bison and invite a charge. Pets are not allowed in animal pastures. For a variety of reasons mosquitos are rare on the farm. Our theory is this is thanks to the fast waters of the river and very little standing water.

Toilet available

Composting toilet. Camp area follows Grand Canyon Raft Expedition River Toileting and pee in the river, and poop in your own toilet, or the tan river toilet (groover,) behind the single pear tree. This toilet uses sawdust as a composting base and is rotated out to decompose for a year or two when 50% full for a fresh can. Each can is good for about 50+ uses. Please do not use wet wipes as they will not compost. Use only toilet paper. A bottle of Castile Liquid Soap is in the toilet box for hand washing in the river. Enjoy the view.

Pets allowed

Off leash, on leash. Farm animals are on the premises including chickens, other dogs, sheep, goats, horses, cattle, and bison. Mountain lions, bears, rattlesnakes, ticks and black widows are present. Pets must be on leash or under the owners control at all time. Barking pets are to be quieted. Pets may be limited depending on type & size.

The Perfect Entiat River Escape

What a special place! We stayed here for a couple of nights with our camper van at the end of a long road trip, and it was exactly what we needed. Nestled in a rugged, beautiful valley with only a handful of homes, it felt wonderfully remote. The nights were incredibly dark and peaceful, and the only sounds were the river and the surrounding wildlife. The riverside campsite was perfect for cooling off, exploring with our dogs, and doing a little fly fishing. While we're pretty self-contained in the van, Garn went out of his way to let us know we were welcome to use the bathroom, top up with potable water, or plug into power if we needed anything. We didn't end up needing much, but knowing it was available was incredibly thoughtful and appreciated. Garn clearly loves this property and shared fascinating stories about its history and the incredible effort to restore this once-forgotten piece of land to its natural beauty. Seeing the bison was a highlight, and getting to spend time with the world's friendliest ranch dog, Sweet Tea, was the perfect bonus. We'd happily stay here again.

This spot was very quiet. It is on the edge of a neighborhood that didn't have a lot of vehicle traffic. It is close to the Columbia River Loop Trail, just a 5 minute walk to connect to the dog friendly trail. Only negative was the lack of any shade. Full sun... no shade. Tough on me and my dog.

We really enjoyed our stay! Convenient location and so close to the Apple Capital Loop trail access. We didn’t end up taking our dogs but would have been a good spot for them too. We took our bikes out for part of the loop trail one morning of our stay (highly recommend). The owner was a wonderful communicator and we hope to be back soon!

The site was clean and easy to find. Google directions took us right there. Unfortunately we didn't realize the site is in a neighborhood setting, so the traffic noise from the freeway was a little disruptive. But if you are in a camper or motorhome I'm sure you couldn't hear it!

We stayed a quick night to help us get into town sooner than we were originally planning and our stay was great. Having full hookups really made it so easy and convenient for our family. Close enough to town that was it easy to stop on our way to the spot, and far enough that it was nice and quiet.
