The space was lovely, it was nice to fall asleep to the sound of the river. The campsites are very visible to/close to each other so would be great for a small party/booking the place with friends.

Second trip here and is quickly becoming our favorite place to visit. Super clean, great hosts, private, peaceful, and close to a great little bar to grab a local beer. We will continue to return….awesome property.

We stayed at site 3 which is nestled against a tree and fern covered slope. The sound of the river can be heard through the whole campsite and is very peaceful. The portapotty was very clean. It would be nice if there were a picnic table at each site rather than just the one shared picnic table. We brought our own camp table which was plenty for us. We did hear the other campers at site 2 but not too much. The sites are spaced well for privacy and the folks at site 2 said they couldn’t hear our baby over the sound of the river since site 2 is just above the riverbank. It would be fun to rent out both sites with a group of friends and have the whole campground. Loved the quick access to the river for dipping our feet and to town for a coffee at Catkin and ice cream at Peninsula Foods. We would happily return to this campsite!

This was a lovely place. I was on site 3 but I would have prefer site two it would have been closer to the river. Everything was great. It was very quiet place tucked away in the woods. I had the campsite all to myself so that was a plus. I will be back again thank you for the experience for my first time camping in Washington state.

What a beautiful place. We spent the weekend with friends here and while it is spectacular in all areas, it is a bit narrow for a 15-ft trailer towed by a Subaru Ascent. We found it exceptionally difficult to get through the gate at the top of the road, you've really got to swing way right to be able to get in through that gate. And we were in site number three, which was a pretty tight fit for the trailer, but if you are a tent camper or if you have a class C or if you have a small trailer that you're really good at driving, I would not sleep on this place it is the best!
The pros:

Absolutely well maintained grounds
A beautiful center community zone with a picnic table and a fire pit
A beautiful creek that runs through and is just a short walk away -- bring your camping chairs!
Pet friendly
Beautiful surrounding forest with just 2 hours of direct sunlight over the middle of the camp

The front gate is very much too small, they need to go a foot in both directions

The campsite was absolutely beautiful and quiet. Lots of greenery and trees. There is a path down to a river where we put our chairs to cool off. The portable bathroom was super clean. In the center of the campsites is a shared space with a picnic table. The only downsides are only 12 foot or under trailers can fit through the gate and the campsite circle.

I loved this super cozy spot amongst mature tall trees and beautiful ferns. The spot had access to the little quilcene river, a big communal picnic table, and was close to many activities. The site itself was level and well maintained, perfect for our setup. I would definitely recommend this spot and will be staying here again.

This spot in all is expertly manicured and sits down in a ravine of sorts with the river on two sides and is peaceful and beautiful! There are currently two campsites, and we rented both, setting up three tents and having three cars no problem. The toilet is well-maintained and did not smell or have any maintenance or cleaning issues, looked brand new and supported seven of us no problem! The only picnic table is in the communal area, so had we not known the other campers, sharing the communal site for meals might have required some coordination, no biggie though. Access to the river, which is pristine and untouched, was a ten foot walk or so down a path, super easy. The peace and tranquility of the site really cannot be over-stated! We have a 22ft SUV and making it around the loop and down the super steep driveway with its initial big turn was tight but we made it. We will definitely be booking the spot again for our next trip large enough to need 2-3 sites. Overall, 9 out of 10 and we will be back!!

This is the perfect place to camp near Tacoma and Seattle! Tent site is surrounded by beautiful forest. We hammocked and fell asleep listening to the creek nearby.

What a fantastic place to camp! This little campground was so well-tended while also retaining that ideal “tucked into the forest” feeling. Our three person, two tent group stayed in Site #2, surrounded by big trees, ferns, and all kinds of lush understory plants, with the creek just a few yards down the embankment (so good for lulling us to sleep!). The communal area had a nice big picnic table for meals. The port-a-potty was incredibly clean.
There was one evening of rain during our three night trip, and the tent site had such good drainage that there were zero issues with pooling water on our tent footprint/bottom of tent (which is sometimes not the case when camping in the rain in our tent).
We found this site as we scrambled to find a plan-A after our original campground booking was canceled due to an emerging wildfire, and we’re so thankful to have made such a soft landing in such a magical spot. This place would be my plan-A for next time we head to the Olympic Penisula for camping.

This charming property is a serene, secluded oasis nestled among lush ferns, with the soothing sounds of a nearby creek and sightings of frogs and banana slugs in their natural habitat. Guests have direct access to the creek—a perfect spot to place a chair, dip your feet, and relax on a warm day. The site is clean, peaceful, and easily accessible. Please note: the access road is steep and single-lane, so drive with care. Each campsite accommodates one vehicle only.

Excellent location, tucked in the trees by the river yet so close to town for basic amenities. While the few sites aren't very far from each other, they are strategically placed such that each one feels private. It would be ideal to have a group of friends spread across each of the sites, as there is a shared common space in the middle.
We appreciated the heads up about the steep road going down to the sites and were grateful for AWD on our way back uphill.

Such an amazing spot, we will definitely be going back! Just make sure to bring some hand sanitizer cause the bathroom didn’t have any. 10/10 recommend being able to fall asleep listening to the river nearby.

This is my families new favorite site. The sound of the river is so peaceful while sitting by the fire and falling asleep at night. You can tell Alan put a lot of hard work in to making these campsites and trail down to the river. He messaged me the day before with very detailed directions and it was easy to find. The parking spot is right at the campsite so it’s easy to unload and set everything up. Very clean property and very well maintained. Will definitely be back this summer whenever it’s available

This was a great forested camping spot. It was well maintained, and the porta-potty was clean. We occupied site #3 while another group was in site #2. It was super cool to be so close to a stream/river. It was great to have shared access to the stream as well.
My only criticism of the property is that the gate, road, and parking spots are pretty tight. We tent-camped and had a truck with a regular-length bed. The front end of our truck stuck out into the loop of road shared by the two sites. Backing around the loop to avoid going in front of the other campsite was difficult; the road to the sites is narrow, and so is the gate at the property entrance. Campers with trailers or longer/wider than average vehicles will have to maneuver carefully.

This was such a wonderful experience for our first time using Hipcamp. Alan’s property is peaceful, serene, and decently secluded. Yes, there’s another site on the property, but it didn’t feel like either party encroached the other or had any lack of privacy. And there is a little road noise, but it’s minimal, and the constant sound of flowing water was enough to drown it out (no pun intended). Now all of that said, I would be very reluctant to take a trailer to this site again. Even at 12ft long, we found it slightly difficult to maneuver our teardrop-style RV. With a lot of luck and little skill, we were able to manage, but it gave us a good challenge and unfortunately, it has us reconsidering our future booking.

Alan has clearly put a lot of work and thought into these sites and the results are a wonderful place. The sites are well maintained and nicely sized. The common area is large and this would be the perfect place for two families to take over for a weekend.
Overall, the location is beautiful, convenient, and quiet. The river is beautiful and is a great place to just sit and enjoy nature. The location is only a few minutes from town and close to many trail heads in the Olympics. The road in is not busy and since the site is below the road the noise and lights of the occasional car do not affect the site.
We had a great time here and plan on coming back.

I love this site. It's peaceful and beautiful, and tucked away in the trees. It's my second time camping there, and I most certainly hope to visit again. It's well maintained, easy to access, private from the road and neighbors, and you get to fall asleep listening to the river. What more could you want? Also, the host, Alan, is fabulous and very responsive. Great experience!

We had the tent site area all to ourselves and the sounds of the creek and the walk down to were all standouts for this romantic setting. Was able to hang our hammock and make a fire in the fire pit AND the porta potty just steps away, all pluses. We’ll be back to experience another season at this spot.

Had a great experience camping here! The campsites were well defined, very clean, easy to get to and Alan responded promptly to our inquiries. The Little Quilcene river is just a few yards away, The entire site is gorgeous, peaceful and quiet.
We will definitely stay there again!

This campsite is wonderful. The lushness of the moss-covered trees, the sound of the river next to it, the diversity of life -- it is a truly magical place. We saw all sorts of critters, from a lizard to frogs to various birds (an owl even came to visit and hang out about 15' from us!), and we spent time exploring the forest and soaking in the beauty (pun intended because it rained most of the time we were there).
The entire campsite is very well maintained, and the individual sites are good sized, level, and immaculate. As other campers have mentioned, the toilet is also immaculate, which is a fabulous change from most places!
I would note for future guests that the campsite is a bit wee, and the individual sites are pretty close to each other. Great for friends and families that like camping with each other (or for making new friends), but not great if you're into privacy. We reserved both sites, and I'm really happy we did since it was so peaceful and tranquil without strangers around.
The road is also very close, but we hardly noticed it, and were surprised at how difficult the site is to see when we were driving away.
Oh! I should also mention the owner was very friendly and extremely responsive. He obviously cares about the site and it shows in every interaction with him.
I would absolutely stay there again, and I can't recommend it enough. It's a really magical place, rain or shine.

Little River Hideaway was a perfect spot for camping with my partner, nephews, and pup over a long weekend. Alan has put great care and effort into the design, construction, and maintenance of the sites. Tucked away among ferns and firs, exploring the stream was a highlight for all. While you have the wonderful restful feeling that you are far away from things, it’s only is a quick drive to Leland Lake and the Hood Canal for kayaking, paddleboarding, and swimming. And don’t forget to stop for tamales at Quilcene Village Store and ice cream at Peninsula Foods Store.

First I would like to say the campsite is in an idyllic setting with ferns, vegetation and a creek. It would be perfect for tents or a camper van. We arrived with a small 12 foot trailer. We had a hard time going into the campsite as the gate posts were very close together. Once in and down the hill, we soon realized our trailer was too long for the campsite. When trying to leave the site, we were unable to pull our trailer back up the hill as it was too steep. Alan was great and came quickly with his 4 wheel drive and pulled the trailer up the hill. He then offered us a place across from the campsite to stay where our trailer would fit. All in all, I would recommend the campsite for a tent or camper van…just not a trailer.

I had booked site #2 and had to cancel last minute due to a personal issue but the canceling process was so smooth. The host was very understanding and polite. Since it was literally day before kind of cancelation no money back but that was totally reasonable. But just based off my experience canceling I would book again based off how nice the host was.
