Located about an hour from Olympia, Tacoma and the Olympic National Forest. Hipcampers that stay at Island Base Camp will find themselves in a large grassy spot surrounded by evergreens and maple trees. Within 15 minutes are 3 places to launch boats, kayaks, etc., along with some beach access trails. Many hiking opportunities in the area. Berry picking and fresh apples in the summer on the property. If you are lucky, you will be greeted (and possibly herded) at some point by 2 friendly aussies that roam freely. Ducks and cats also live here. Saturday's 10-noon is a community Farmer's market at the island's community center. Don't miss Daisy Hill's cinnamon rolls, get there early. Shelton has many many activities and events going on all summer such as Oyster Fest, logging show, car shows, farmers markets, dalia and lavender farms, races at the Ridge motorsport, Vance Creek Railriders, also, on the island you can tour the wildcat sanctuary. Offered are 2 spots. One spot is for you to bring your RV and the other spot is equipped with a vintage trailer with outdoor kitchen. Check them out for best fit for you. If you enjoy duck eggs, please ask if the ducks are laying andHarstine Island!  Dry camp on this large site. 30' x 40' or so of grassy land. Main house is a 3 minute walk and your space is private. There are blackberries near your space in the summer.  2 Aussies and 2 cats may visit. Attend the Farmers Market Saturdays 10-12, visit Jarrels Cove, make this your basecamp for a day trip to hiking in the Olympic National forrest! On island, enjoy nearby state park trails, berry picking(seasonal), mushroom foraging(ask host for best times), go fish for trout 10 minutes away, harvest oysters and clams. Launch your boat or kayaks just 10 minutes away in fresh or saltwater. Visit the islands wildcat sanctuary, ride the rail cars at Vance creek railriders, the Ridge motorsports track is 35 minutes away. Shelton is nearest town and has so many events on weekends to enjoy. One huge event is Oysterfest. We have many car shows, great places to eat and shop in town. Our closest place to eat is Spencer Lake Grill or the Olympic Bakery.
