44 ft fifth wheel · With pets
We are at the end of our 2026 Route as full time Rvers. After going to 7 National Parks this year and other great stops, we ended our year by making a stop in the Washington Walla Walla wine country!
We’ve shifted to using more Hipcamp spots vs private camp grounds to lower our cost per night. This one fit the bill since it was right in the middle of wine country and near the center of town. We have a 44’ 5th wheel toyhauler and a F450 dually long bed so we have a big set up. We were here for 2 weeks.
Here is what worked.
• Phill is a great host. Great communication, very accommodating. Very nice guy! We discovered we were all from San Diego so we hit it off!
• Easy to back in spot (if you know how to back in well)
• Private spot
• Near downtown • We could receive packages (we’re full timers so that matters!)
• Near a national monument and other historical sites.
• Walking distance to a winery right across the street
• Welcome gift from the garden with coupons to wineries, restaurants and events
• Area recommendations (wineries, restaurants, etc…)
• We were able to use his trash bin on trash day.
• Beautiful property
• Water and Power connections were accessible and worked well. We did lose power one time, but it came right back on. *Near a national historic site
Here is what did not work for us -
• Hard to see the address of the property when you’re on Old Highway 12. Our RV Garmin started wigging out and we wanted to confirm we were going down the right driveway.
• Bugs. We’ve stayed at Farm’s before since we’re Harvest Host members. We’ve never experienced this many flies, box elders beetles and other bugs. We had a hard time opening our door without lots them coming in.
• Mice. We picked up a visitor. The spot is right next to a barn and the opening faces the spot. We’ve never had a mouse in our RV…so that was new for us.
• ‘Goat-heads’ in the field. If you have a dog, be careful walking them in the grass that is not green and part of the road. Check your shoes before you go into your RV… You don’t want to catch one of them in your bare feet!
Of note -
If you’re a light sleeper you may need to know the owner’s dog is a night dog and he protects the property, so at night you’ll hear him barking .
We are Verizon people and I work remotely. Service was patchy at best.
There is hunting near by if you’re there during hunting season.
You can see this best at night, but there are a TON of those windmills on the hills in this area. This means ‘wind’! We imagine it can get very windy here. We had some wind while we were there, but nothing crazy. Our rig is pretty big so we weren’t really bothered by the wind. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back to Walla Walla!
