Welcome to our tranquil retreat on 15 acres of diverse landscapes at Elysian Retreat in Orting, WA. Our property offers a harmonious blend of open pasture, lush tree cover, and dense woods, providing the perfect backdrop for outdoor adventure. Access the Carbon River and Orting Foothills trail via our coded gate in the NW corner of our paddock. You'll enjoy a 5-minute walk or bike ride along a small, maintained path that opens up to a beautiful view of the Carbon River. (Map included in our Hipcamp images) As you explore our serene surroundings, you'll discover a peaceful small stream meandering through the property, offering a constant flow of natural beauty and wildlife. Watch for majestic elk, graceful deer, vibrant waterfowl, and elusive fish as they frequent the stream, creating a symphony of sights and sounds. Our friendly herd of five horses & four goats roam freely within the fenced area, adding to the enchanting atmosphere of our retreat. They're always eager to greet visitors and may even offer a helping hoof as you set up camp or simply relax under the shade of a tree. Whether you prefer to unwind with a good book beside the babbling stream, take a stroll through the woods, or simply soak in the serene ambiance of nature, our property offers endless opportunities for relaxation and rejuvenation. Parking is available within the securely locked pasture, ensuring easy access to your vehicle throughout your stay. In rare instances of excess rain, alternative parking arrangements will be made to ensure your safety and convenience. We have Portable Fire Pits for rent in our extras along with Firewood Bundles and 1Dozen eggs available for purchase. Trash and recycling are available at the entrance to ensure a clean campsite is left behind. Fire pits also need to be returned to their pickup location. This was my first time using Hipcamper, Absolutely loved our stay here! The property is beautiful and peaceful, and the animals truly make it something special. The horses and goats were incredibly friendly and added so much joy to our experience which was such a treat to wake up and spend time around them. The hosts were wonderful: welcoming, kind, and clearly passionate about their land and the animals. They made us feel right at home, and everything was well cared for, thoughtfully set up, and exactly as described and more. This was the perfect mix of comfort, nature, and charm. We highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a warm, unique, and memorable first Hipcamp experience.

Nice spot. Plenty of flat area to choose from. The horses and goats were cool. The horses will swarm you if you try to feed them, so just be mindful of that and follow basic horse safety rules.

Amazing, great friendly animals, easy pasture to navigate, could get muddy if wet. We had good weather but poor visibility so no view was available. Hosts were very nice and we appreciate them letting us stay on their land. The eggs were very good!

"I absolutely loved the view of Mount Rainier, and the horses and goats were an unexpected bonus! It was great that we could choose our own camping spot, and being so close to the river and the town of Orting made it even more convenient. This was my first time booking with Hipcamp and stayed 2 nights. The camping itself was just like dispersed camping (no bathrooms, no assigned site, etc). The animals on the property made it worth it. I had so much fun feeding and petting the horses. All the horses and goats have such personalities (especially Louie the goat). Will definitely come back in the future!

Overall, this is a totally fine place with plenty of space for campers. It is mostly priced according to what it is, but I think would really benefit from at least a pit toilet, given the exposure to the road and other sites. There were 4 groups of campers when we went, and the back bit of the property where there are more trees is the only part that really makes sense to camp at, so we were all in view of one another- not a big issue, but would be better with a very simple toilet option.

We came for peace and nature… stayed because a black horse with a white mark guilt-tripped us into giving him all the carrots. Quiet, peaceful, and full of animal charm. The eggs were fresh, the fire pit was perfect, and the horses were the real hosts. Not for glampers — but perfect if you love real camping with four-legged neighbors.

The view is great! The ground a little lumpy. The horses are sweet and curious about your tent at night. There are no facilities so bring your own or plan to leave. The people are really nice. There is quite a bit of noise from the highway, airplanes, and a generator. But the view is pretty great. Would camp here again in a pinch and with a better sleeping mattress.

I really enjoyed this camping experience. It was different but beautiful. I love the goats and horses roaming the property. It is pretty out on the open and you can choose wherever on the field to camp. There are some more tucked away spots on the sides if you want more privacy. I would book here again (:

Huge open area where we can camp in many places on the property. The horses there all came up to us and was such a wonderful moment to pet them! We came on 4th of July weekend and even with other campers there, we had a great time. Definitely will be back in the future!

We gave this campsite 3 out of 5 stars. The ground was quite uneven, and it wasn’t very clear where the designated tent areas were. The surface was dusty with patches of thorny bushes, which made it a bit challenging and less ideal for families with young children. That said, it was a peaceful location away from the main road, and being surrounded by horses and goats made it a unique experience. If you’re looking for a quiet place to enjoy nature, this spot has great potential. We would love to come back in the future if some of the current inconveniences are improved.

This was such a lovely spot. There is a TON of room to spread out so everyone can have a private camping experience. It was so fun to just sit by our fire and watch the horses trot around. Also, the firewood you can purchase onsite is the best firewood I’ve ever used. We had three logs burning for over an hour and a half. It was amazing

Took my Astro Van camper out and it was awesome, the land has a lot to tire ruts so make sure your car can handle bumps but it was more than manageable. The animals were so friendly and the stars were incredible. There was more than enough space between us and the other campers. The river was a 5 minute walk and it was a great place to hang out once we found a little spot to sit at. Highly recommend 👍🏻

This was so easy to find. Quick and easy to find a spot that was level and shaded. There are super friendly horses and goats that make your stay even more fun. Bring some carrots and apples for them! I accidentally let one out when I was pulling into the gate and Will and Michelle were so nice about helping me get him back in and gracious about my mistake. Had a great convo with Will and really am looking forward to coming back again when I stop through the area again. Also if you need a place to stop for the night short notice and peaceful sleep with instant book and easy to find at night this would be a great place for you. There’s also a paved path to the river that’s gorgeous. This is how Hipcamps should be!

This was my first time camping so communication was really important to me so I understood everything. I had messaged a bunch of hipcamp sites and no one responded to any of my questions except for Michelle & William. They answered all of my questions and let me know everything to expect which I really appreciated. My experience was good for a first time but rough but I will chalk that up to my inexperience. I was warned that the land was rough but I wasn't sure how rough. I rode a Vespa scooter and almost wiped out riding into a deep trend on the ground. My partner rides a 3 wheeler and had no issues whatsoever. There is a lot of weeds so make sure you have protective shoes as much of it was thorny. Horses and goats are indeed friendly and was easy to approach though I think they are unfamiliar with motorbikes as they stayed clear of them and we weren't harassed as much as we were hoping for by the animals. We got the wood and eggs bundle. Eggs were very nice and rich and the wood crackled a little at first but burned for a fairly long while. For a first time, it was good. Oh and if you plan to go in the summer, be weary that there is very limited shade available.
