A FULL FIRE BAN is now in effect, as of Aug. 4, 2026. Propane devices that have and On/Off control only.... no briquettes. WELCOME to Cowlitz River Rentals! We offer some of the most beautiful scenery in western Washington. Here you will find the peaceful quiet of being "away from it all", yet in reality you are only a little over a mile from the local grocery store, restaurants, and gas stations along Hwy 12 in Randle. We have 20 spacious sites on 70 acres, bordered by the Cowlitz River in Randle, WA. We are centrally located between Mt. Rainier, Mt. St. Helens, and Mt. Adams. Since we are not open for public entry, you can feel safe leaving your camp set up while you take day excursions. We have dry camping ONLY. There is a spigot for water at the gate, but no water or electricity hookups at any of the sites. This year (2026) we are expanding almost all of the sites while doing our best to keep privacy intact. This will allow for a wider variation of vehicle types, as well as more room for kiddos to play within the site itself. We welcome individual campers as well as groups. Many of our sites will hold 20-30 people, all in one site area. We can also accommodate much larger groups.... Let us know if you have a special group event. It is full shade with very little grass in the hollow, but plenty of grass on the upper part, which is in full sun. While some have pulled or backed their trailers down in, this site is best for tenters. However, there is room on the upper portion, for large trailers and motorhomes. There is a private trail to The Fort Beach when the water is lower. In the early season, when the river is still running higher, the only beach available is Big Beach, which can be reached by walking or driving. Check in is 2pm. Check out is 1:30pm. A smaller camp trailer can be backed in as well. There is parking for extra vehicles on the fringes. This site is right on the river bank with a view of the "eagle tree" and Mt. Adams. It has a trail to the riverbar when the water is lower. In the early season, when the river is still running higher, the only beach available is Big Beach, which can be reached by walking or driving. It is full shade, and has no grass at this time. Check in is 2pm. Check out is 1:30pm. You are welcome to come to the property early, and stay on the property until early evening to enjoy the river....there are plenty of places to park before you check-in or after you check-out. There is one beautiful Maple tree for shade, with a huge expanse of grass and sun all around. It sits directly on the edge of the river [xxxxxxxx] is a steep trail for some private river space when the water is low. Beach access is just a short walk. In the early season, when the river is still running higher, the only beach available is Big Beach, which can be reached by walking or driving. This site is more visible than other sites, but is still very private compared to typical campgrounds. It will easily accommodate any size vehicle. Check in is 2pm. Check out is 1:30pm. There is no view of the water from the site, but South Beach access is only a few feet away. In the early season, when the river is still running higher, the only beach available is Big Beach, which can be reached by walking or driving. This site is full shade all day. This site is being expanded for 2026 to make room for easy RV access. There is also room on the outskirts for a trailer or motorhome. Check in is 2pm. Check out is 1:30pm. There is access to The Fort Beach at the downstream end. In the early season, when the river is still running higher, the only beach available is Big Beach, which can be reached by walking or driving. This site has a mixture of shade and sun depending on the time of day. Grass is planted in the site, and some is growing nicely. Smaller vehicles and tents are recommended at this time, however larger vehicles have lots of room on the fringe of the site, in full sun. Check in is 2pm. Check out is 1:30pm. There is a view of the river and gentle beach access when the water is lower. n the early season, when the river is still running higher, the only beach available is Big Beach, which can be reached by walking or driving. This site is considered one of the best for those who want to "float the loop" over and over again. It also has a large grassy area for kids to play. It is near the takeout point for floaters, so there are many passersby during peak float times. This site can accommodate any size vehicle. Check in is 2pm. Check out is 1:30pm. This is a large, serene area, with great beach access and gentle water, regardless of river level. n the early season, when the river is still running higher, the only beach available is Big Beach. There is NO shade here. Tenters and vehicles with awnings should be prepared for strong afternoon winds from the southwest. All size vehicles can fit easily at this site. Do not drive onto the beach without 4wd or all-wd. Check in is 2pm. Check out is 1:30pm. It is screened by trees on the backside and is very private. It has a mixture of grass and dirt, with the option for full shade or full sun. There is a steep trail leading down to some private river space when the water is low. The Big Beach or The Fort Beach are a short walk away. In the early season, when the river is still running higher, the only beach available is Big Beach, which is very close. Check in is 2pm. Check out is 1:30pm. 01 - North Bank

01- NORTH BANK For more details of all 20 sites, please see our webpage: [xxxxxxxx] North Bank is set far apart from the other sites. It is the farthest upstream on the river and has immense privacy. It sits right on the river, but has a steep bank. There is access for floating a short distance away, but no real beach. In the early season, when the river is still running higher, the only beach available is Big Beach, which can be reached by walking or driving. There is a huge grassy area on the upper section, and deep shade on the lower section. Any size vehicle will fit on the upper section. Smaller camp vehicles and tents are recommended for the lower section. There is plenty of room to spread out, with extra room on the fringe for more vehicles. This site can be requested for a group larger than 30. While it is the closest to the highway, it is tucked into a hollow that allows optimal privacy. See the photo of our site map for location. It is back off the beach a bit to protect it from the afternoon wind, and is shielded from the main paths by surrounding trees and foliage. Big Beach and Sandy Beach are just a short distance. n the early season, when the river is still running higher, the only beach available is Big Beach, which can be reached by walking or driving. This site has a mixture of sun and shade depending on the time of day. It is a newly expanded site, and grass has been planted, but right now it is mainly dirt. The pics do not show the new expansion yet. All size vehicles can fit here, however, be aware that it is a long, slow journey in for big rigs. This site can be requested for a group larger than 30. 14 - Riverside

It is full, deep shade all day, which also means no grass. It is a short walk to either beach, and is a great place to be at the end of your float. n the early season, when the river is still running higher, the only beach available is Big Beach, which can be reached by walking or driving. This site is fairly secluded and private, but seems to allow sound to travel rather easily at night. If your group tends to be a bit boisterous, you may want to choose a different site. Larger motorhomes and longer trailers may have some issue with getting into the site due to some tighter turns. It is also a long, slow journey in for larger vehicles.

03 - Maple Grove

You must walk or drive a short distance for river access. In the early season, when the river is still running higher, the only beach available is Big Beach, which can be reached by walking or driving. This site is a great spot for those with reactive dogs, as it is tucked back away from the majority of camper and river activity. It is also a great site for a basecamp for day adventures, as it is fairly close to the camp area exit. This site can accommodate all size vehicles. The combination of Mountain View, Maple Grove, and Hawk Haven would be ideal for a very large gathering such as a family reunion. Check in is 2pm. Check out is 1:30pm. It completely surrounded by trees and foliage, making it quite private. It is back off the riverbank a bit, with no view of the water, but beach access is a few yards in either direction. n the early season, when the river is still running higher, the only beach available is Big Beach, which can be reached by walking or [xxxxxxxx] deep, deep shade makes this site the absolute coolest during hot weather. It is also pretty good at rain protection too. Due to the shade, the floor is mostly dirt. This site can accommodate any size vehicle. Check in is 2pm. Check out is 1:30pm. This will allow for pull-through access, and a more private camping experience. This site is mostly shaded until late afternoon. It does not have a view of the river, but is conveniently located on one of the "float the loop" paths. Campers in these sites are welcome to use any of the beaches. In the early season, when the river is still running higher, the only beach available is Big Beach, which can be reached by walking or driving. There is a connecting path to Wolf Den for those wanting to book both sites for a larger group. Larger motorhomes and trailers will not fit easily into this site. They can park near the entrance to the site, which has grass and full sun. Check in is 2pm. Check out is 1:30pm. I cannot get this to change in the settings for this site. The "eagle tree" is directly across the river. This site is predominantly shady with a mix of grass and dirt. There are two basic sections to park camp vehicles or pitch tents....right next to the river, or back behind a bit. There is river access at each end of this site. In the early season, when the river is still running higher, the only beach available is Big Beach, which can be reached by walking or driving. There have been a Class A motorhome and some large 5th wheel trailers in here, but you should be confident in your maneuvering skills before attempting something very large. Check in is 2pm. Check out is 1:30pm. Adams. There is a good mixture of sun and shade. In the later summer, a private beach becomes exposed just below the site, with a somewhat steep trail going down to it. The north end of West Riverbar is also accessible by wading in the later summer. There are multiple spaces to set your tent right on the riverbank, or other spaces back a bit further from the edge. It is very shaded with trickles of sun during the day. It borders a large grassy area that is shared with Berry Patch. This site seems to dry out last, so reservations for May might need to be adjusted to a different area depending on weather. Larger vehicles can park on the grassy area on the fringe of the site. Beach access is available directly from the site when the water is low. In the early season, when the river is still running higher, the only beach available is Big Beach, which can be reached by walking or driving. Check in is 2pm. Check out is 1:30pm. It has a view of the "eagle tree" and the West Riverbar below. There is a good mixture of sun and shade. Some daring souls use the log to access the beach, while others walk a short distance for gentle access. In the early season, when the river is still running higher, the only beach available is Big Beach, which can be reached by walking or driving. Larger motorhomes and camp trailers "can" fit, but are not recommended at this time. I've stayed at Hazelanna's property twice now and It's absolutely amazing! The sites are well maintained. They are far enough apart from each other that there's plenty of privacy. The river is magical and it's really fun to float down. Hazelanna is very kind and easy to get a hold of if there are any questions. Thank you Hazelanna!

Hazelanna was a wonderful host with an amazing piece of land! Our campsite was even better than we could have imagined. It was perfect. Larger than most other places and there was a sense of privacy as the sites are not directly on top of each other. The site and portapotty were incredibly clean! We most definitely will be coming back here!

Very peaceful, quiet, and private. Very large camp sites, we barely heard or saw other campers except those coming down the river. We basically had a whole beach and stretch of the river to ourselves. The water was calm, slow and fairly shallow and my 7 and 9 year old tubed it without us feeling like it was too dangerous or stressful. The host was great and accommodating. The only thing I wasn't prepared for was how dirty we would be at all times! Ha Lots of dust and fine dirt which pretty much got everywhere, so lots of cleaning to do when we got home, but well worth it. We would definitely go back!

20 - Wolf Den

Hands down, the best camping spot EVER!! The campsites are spacious and widely separated so you don’t even notice the other campers. There are (super clean) Porta Potties near each campsite, so you never have to go searching for one. The host, Hazelanna, is easy to contact and quick to respond. The firewoods available for purchase are $20, but you get enough for easily 4-5 days. We ordered some and Hazelanna delivered them right to our site. The property itself is conveniently located just minutes away from a grocery store and a burger joint (huge selection of milkshakes), but once you’re inside the property, it feels a serene retreat. We saw lots of birds and butterflies, with the swallows colonies across the big beach being our favorite. If you float on an inner tube (they have plenty for rent), you can get a close up view of the swallow nests. The river was pristine and calm when we visited, and we were able to float with 3 kids (13, 9, 6) with no issues. It was so much fun, we floated every chance we got. This is definitely the best camping experience we’ve had as a family. Thanks, Hazleanna.

Hazelanna is a wonderful host. Great communication, quick to help when needed. It's absolutely beautiful. Our site Hammock Heaven was so nice, beautiful river view and easy access to the river and rocky beach. The float was fun and a little adventure for us. Great time there and would definitely return. The only downside was drinking water, you had to get that at the front of the property. I will bring a larger water storage next time, no problem.

We loved camping here. We had Meadow's Edge. Four cars, four tents, four dogs, five people - and plenty of space. Amazing views in all directions. The sites are far enough apart that we never overheard anyone or felt like we didn't have privacy. Very clean portapotty. Floating the river was incredible. Would absolutely camp here again.

Our second time camping at Hazelanna's property did not disappoint! First, you'll be amazed at the vibe this place offers. No camping on top of others, more room and privacy than you can imagine. The sites are huge and spread out over 80 acres. 20 sites. Large groups or single tenters, she's got you covered. She is the hostess with the mostess! She's such a pleasure to work with. Kind and fun! So sweet. She's created a true escape from the world. Our 2 pups were in doggy heaven, able to run free along the beautiful Cowlitz river and throughout our camp! This was our second trip to this Hipcamp and by far our favorite! 5 out of 5!

One of our favorite Hipcamp’s, for sure! The property is huge so the camp sites are far from each other which made things very private. Bathrooms were outhouses but super clean and well stocked. We stayed at Horseshoe Bend which had direct beach access near the river. Definitely bring your shade structures here however as there are minimal trees at this site. It can get a bit dusty here as well but gave us a reason to throughly clean our camping gear when we came home. We would definitely stay again, thanks for hosting us!!

It was such a great spot right on the river. Hazelanna was so kind to bring us firewood. Was very surprised to find an outhouse at the campsite and a picnic table after doing some dispersed camping a few weeks before. The property was gorgeous to walk around with my 5 year old. And it was nice that the town and a diner were less than five minutes drive away for a classic breakfast.

Beautiful location. Large campsites are all stunning with tall surrounding trees for shade and wind protection, but also plenty of sun as well. The river is beautiful and great for playing in on warm days. They also have picnic tables, fire pits, and clean well maintained port-o-potty’s at every site! The host is very kind and responsive and worked with me to find a solution when I made a scheduling error. Highly recommend

Tent camping was great with plenty of tree cover. With four families, we each had plenty of room with a great common area for gathering. Fantastic view of the river and mountains. Even with a few rain showers we never got too wet or muddy. Lots of easy access to the trails that go through the land and on down to the river bank. Hazelanna was great and responsive.

Hazelanna’s spots are fantastic! She is so responsive and helpful. The property is massive. We stayed early in the summer season so the weather was cooler than typical, but we still had a memorable trip. I loved that there were portable toilets near the site that were super clean. There was another family camping at a nearby site but we still felt like there was ample privacy. We stayed at Hidden Glen and the walk to the riverfront was so much fun. We will be returning!

11- Cowlitz Ledge

We had a great time in our spot, which very comfortably fit our party of 10- with two camping vehicles and two tents. It was mostly private. The weather didn't align for us to use the river so we did a a day trip up to Mt. Rainier instead. But on a warm day, this stretch of river looks like it would be really nice.

10 - Otter Run

We found the most amazing and perfect spot to camp! It's within an hour drive up to Mount Rainier for some breathtaking views and a beautiful drive. The property is amazing and beautiful. We were able to drop in our paddle boards and float down the river from the property. We were also able to get out about 40 minutes down the river, on the same property. The property is adjacent to cattle, and we found it amusing that in the evening you could hear the lowing of the cows like they were saying good night to each other. There is a highway that drives adjacent to the property, but it's far enough away that it's not disturbing of the peace. Also, the campsites are nicely spread out, so you have plenty of privacy in any spot you would choose. We stayed in Elk Corner and it's the largest spot, likely with the most privacy, and it was really pleasant. Perfect for a very large group! And even perfect for just the two of us. There are Porta potties that are close by and clean. There's potable water available and firewood if needed. You'll see wildlife, mostly birds, butterflies, and we've even had a hummingbird visit us! We can't wait to go back! And the host, Hazelanna is amazing and helpful!
