First time using hip camp and have mixed feelings overall. Regarding the property, it was really pretty. The communication with the host was quick. Our biggest problem was unexpectedly the ant issue. I wish I had done some deeper reading in the reviews before hand, that's my fault. But they were everywhere and it was a bit of a hassle with our dog. There are also neighbors that, according to the host, have rights to this particular section of the creek as well, and during our brief stay they were walking around on the other side of the creek, it was a little uncomfortable. All in all, not the best experience but most of that is on me for not doing the research. Some people will land on a good day and likely not see anyone else, perhaps when its too cold for the ants, and have a great time. Unfortunately I could not that day because the ants were everywhere. Compounded by the "strict cancelation policy".

Very serene and peaceful! I camped here solo but seems like an awesome place for a larger gathering since it’s so spacious. Next to a busier road but I didn’t mind :) thank you Allison!

Relaxation By The Creek

My husband and I unfortunately got sick the week leading up to our trip, so we ended up only managing a day trip and didn't stay overnight. However, we loved it and want to rebook for the opportunity to stay overnight another time! We absolutely loved the big firepit, private creek access, and shaded/open area. There definitely were a lot of bugs (ants), but that's nature! I think the only thing worth noting is that it is somewhat close to the road, and by the river you can hear cars passing, but down at the creek is nice and quiet! We really enjoyed setting our chairs in the creek, watching the wildlife (I saw a garter snake catch a fish in the creek!!), and taking a quick swim in a slightly deeper area downstream. Allison was incredibly helpful, communicative, and kind!

My family loved their time at this site. Elk came to visit in the early morning hours. Nice and cool by the creek on the hotter days and a short walk to town.

This site is so beautiful, getting a private 1.25 acres in a cute little town like Wilkeson, on a creek, with a great fire pit, and the addition of the solar lights strung in between the trees is perfection. Unfortunately, and I hate to even have to say this but the ants are just so bad. They covered the ground, if you were phobic you would need serious medication. They didn't bother me and my husband so much as my dogs would not just chill, they started to try to dig down into the ground to get to them, we ended up leaving early but I am so sad this place is just exceptional!

The perfect campsite if you’re headed to White River Ampitheatre! Only 20-25 minutes away and perfectly tucked away with room to roam and explore. Hidden away from the main road, it’s like one foot in civilization and another in the creek basking in the sunlight.

So the review prior was a bit extreme, the site was by the road and a walking trail but the creek is lovely and Kid had lots of fun playing by it. It’s a really large site if you had a big group it could accommodate quite a few people. Ants and bugs were honestly minimal for being right next to water. We came at the end of August and woke up to elk calls really close, a bit spooky if you didn’t know what they were but quite a magical experience. The solar lights were really nice and lots of hammock spaces. All and all I think if you know what you’re getting into near the road it’s an excellent spot for some summer fun and close enough to do Mt. Rainier hikes during the day.

Overall great family time but it was too close to the road and we heard all the traffic. We went on the first rainy weekend in over a month so we stayed in our tents for the first day and half. Would consider again for location and when there isn’t a burn ban. 🔥

Honestly, we didn’t even get the opportunity to stay here. When we pulled up, we thought what a beautiful location, as we stepped out of the truck it looked as though the ground was moving. The entire camp site was overtaken by red ants. My son was bitten within 20 seconds of getting out of the truck. My husband said no way we cannot stay here. I agreed the place was inhabitable. The ants were on the picnic table. They were next to the creek which really wasn’t a creek. It was more like an inch of water which was unfortunate because we were excited about the water part. We had three trucks packed full of stuff ready to go. I’ve messaged the host and there has been no response or communication since days before our trip. We had to scramble and find another camp spot that could accommodate us and we all ended up driving two hours to another location. This was a terrible experience and it is unfortunate that we weren’t able to have some kind of compensation or even a response to make sure and check and see if we were OK. This place was façade, it is literally across the street from cemetery and there is a walking trail that everybody has a clear view of us if they were to walk past . The ground was so dry and crumbly & there were mole holes covering half of the campsite including dead vegetation overgrowth. You can tell it hasn’t been cared for in a while. We should’ve known better by the limited reviews.

Great spot that feels like you are out in the wilderness, but close to town. Allison responds quickly to any inquiries or questions. I would come here again and recommend to family and friends. We wanted an "off the grid" experience and that is what we got here. Our family had a great time. Our dogs were off leash and we didn't have to worry about them bugging other people or running into the road as it's pretty closed off from the main road. They loved the creek!

I booked this site for a night while passing through the area and had a great experience! Despite having troubles opening the gate lock, the host was very quick to respond and help out. The site itself has plenty of space for multiple tents along the river so if you're planning a group trip I would recommend checking this site out!

Such a beautiful campsite. My little family of 4 and our 2 dogs along with 2 of our nephews loved exploring the site playing in the water and just relaxing in a hammock we were able to set up. We will definitely be back again,

Lovely private green creek oasis!

Such a gorgeous green space so close to home! While sounds of a busy road are still present, the babbling of the creek more than makes up for it. The whole family slept without a noise machine for the first time in years as the river was more beautiful than any canned sound could be! Great site for hammocks, we brought 2 and spent a lot of time snuggling and soaking up the greenery and creekside vibes. Lots of space for a bigger group, but our 1 tent family of 5 really relished having the whole big private feeling space to ourselves. Our kids waded in the creek, explored the riverbank, played with rocks and mud, learned how to start the campfire with flint and steel and fished in the hole down the way. I was recovering from a cold and brought my medicibal herbs forage guide and found a great abundance and variety to make a healing cup of tea for myself. Beautiful spot, helpful host. Will likely be back again.
