We had such a lovely stay here! The host was incredibly responsive to all our questions, and the cabin was exactly what we were looking for. It came with a portable heater inside that kept us warm at night (just remember to turn on the gas outside first!). Without proper winter clothing, it might be a bit chilly to stay here during the colder months, but we went toward the end of October and it was still perfect!
And the hot tub!! Such a clever and wonderful addition! Just a heads up: you’ll need to build a strong fire to get it hot within about 3 hours, and you’ll likely want to make two fires - one for the tub and another to sit back and enjoy. Be sure to bring lanterns, as it gets dark pretty quickly once the sun sets.
Even though we had cloudy skies, we could tell that on a clear night the stargazing would be incredible. The cabin is well-equipped with dishes and running water for light cooking, brushing teeth, etc. There’s also a small convenience store about 8 minutes away on the main road.
Overall, we would highly recommend this place. We had a fantastic time and will definitely be returning!

My 7 year old daughter and I loved this place so much! And the hosts are incredible people with such a great energy and way of life!
Everything needed was available on site. The shower was amazing!
The wood fired tub is impressive!
This retreat helps one understand that life can be beautiful in such a crazy world. Thank you host family!

I very much enjoyed my camping experience at Rooted Acres Farm.
Jerry was a wonderful host. He has created an amazing space there. Everything is as depicted. Some real engineering has gone into the off-grid cabin design. Things have been quite thoughtfully laid out. The cowboy hot tub is a real treat. It takes some time to get it up to a good temp but once it's there it stays hot for hours. You just have to be careful not to let it get too hot for your personal comfort.

A friend and I took our newly 18 year old daughters to Jerry's land over the weekend it was just what we all needed the hot tub was amazing we played lots of fun games and ate delicious food. With both our girls graduating high school this year it was nice to have a trip that we will have great memories of when we send them off at the end of the year. Highly recommend.

My wife and I had another wonderful stay at Jerry's cabin. We first stayed there December of 2022 and it was good to see and enjoy the subtle improvements over that time, demonstrating the host's thoughtfulness towards his guests. We stayed mid February with 30"+ of snow and cold nights dipping to around 0 f with a stiff windchill. The new propane heater kept the nip out of the air and the indoor cooking setup was well stocked with a counter top burner. Dimmable LED city lights and battery powered refrigerator were both nice touches. The improved wood-fired hot tub was a perfect way to relax after days of Nordic skiing at Craftsbury.

We had a fantastic winter weekend at this lovely cabin! It was super cozy and had all the amenities we needed. There was plenty of water, the lighting setup with the electric battery was easy to use and kept the whole space lit at night, and the propane heater kept us warm all weekend. The space is super well designed and thoughtful from the decor, to the bathroom and little indoor kitchen setup. You can tell this space was created with intention and love! We had a lot of fun building a fire and using the cowboy hottub, and the property is magical. Would love to visit again soon!

Had such a great time at the cabin. Had everything that we needed, and then some. And when we needed a fresh battery for the cooler, Jerry was on it. There have been updates to the site, so there were more amenities than we planned for. Looks like a couple more sites are being planned for, but still very private. Can't wait to come back.

Wonderful spot to relax and enjoy a soak in the wood fired tub. A little fire goes a long way with the tub, ours was still hot the next morning with the upgraded stove set up.

I’ve been to many HipCamps and this one may be my absolute favorite - definitely a top contender. I loved the hot tub and felt the camp set up was super convenient and thoughtful. It still felt like camping, but having the power bank, hot shower, outdoor kitchen, etc made it all feel comfortable and a bit less trouble to do things like cook, bathe, etc relative to most other sites I’ve camped at. Thanks to Jerry for sharing his land and such an amazing site with the public. I really hope to be back soon!

Wonderful and peaceful cabin in the wood! So much work and love and this little paradise cabin! Perfect to unwind and connect and enjoy nature! Near beautiful hiking and paddleboarding spot. Jerry and his family are very kind and responsive! I recommend 🙏

We loved staying at Jerry’s cabin! The site was super private and the hot tub was amazing. Jerry was an extremely gracious and helpful host, he even brought more wood and swapped the water in the tub halfway through our visit. Would definitely recommend!

Loved staying at Jerry’s place. It was super cute and cozy, had everything you could need. Feels very private and in the nature. Lake Willoughby is nearby where we spent the day at the beach. Perfect weekend getaway!

We had a great weekend stay at Jerry's cabin! We loved the cabin itself, and the outdoor space for cooking/hanging out. There were lots of fun/unique touches like the hot tub and outdoor shower. We very much appreciated all of the provided water, kitchen tools, wood, and cleaning supplies. It was a rainy weekend, which made the cabin and its cozy string lights all the more perfect to hunker down in and read. We would definitely return in the future!

It was the perfect place to get away for the weekend. Really great cabin with all the amenities, and then some. Easy to drive to Jay or Montgomery for some food and drink. Would highly recommend staying.

My family and I really loved this cabin and all the area around it. We felt right at home because the host Jerry was so helpful, friendly and just a very nice guy. He’s always smiling even while he’s working on his new cabin which is tucked pretty far off from the one we stayed in. This cabin is private and extremely cozy. There’s an inside sawdust toilet bathroom with a sink and running water from a jug on a stand. Jerry has made so many useful devices to make it easier to enjoy a camping experience. Lights strung around the cabin make such a magical effect and are run by a small battery that we also used to charge our phones. Jerry recharged it for us whenever we asked. He provides a small cooler fridge which was wonderful. Heat was a propane heater which was absolutely cozy. Cooking and eating utensils provided but bring a couple extra mugs if more than 3 are needed. Beds were so comfy and linens provided. I had the best sleep of my life on the nicest pillows ever. If you are looking for a magical get away this is the place. I can’t say enough good words. We went up to watch the eclipse and got so much more. We will be back soon.

Perfect off grid spot only 20 minutes from Jay Peak.
Quiet, private (tucked away in a wooded area about 100 yards from the parking spot). Some cell service (2 bars verizon LTE).
Winter Camping: There’s a propane heater to keep you warm. Without it, it definitely gets cold. At night, we brought our 0 degree sleeping bags because we didn’t want to leave the heater on all night. Despite lows in the single digits, we were still very comfortable. Also worth noting that it was too cold for the wood burning hot tub.
Overall, we loved our stay and can’t wait to return next ski season.

This is an amazing little place. We wanted a few nights away (hoping for clear skies but weather wasn't cooperating lol). The cabin was perfect, warm with the heater, lights on a battery/ charging station. The stay couldn't have been more perfect. We came with our 2 yo daughter and everything was amazing.

Jerry’s property and cabin were both incredible! He built the cabin himself and even milled his own wood from the property which was super cool to learn. We were traveling from a couple hours away and it would’ve been too late for us to start the hot tub (it takes 3 or 4 hours for it to get going) so Jerry started it up for us which was very nice, and we were able to use it the first night we were there. He was also able to bring us an additional jug of water for washing dishes when we ran out, and he recharged the battery that powers the string lights around the cabin. All in all a beautiful property and an amazing host. We will definitely be back. :)

We loved our stay at this cute little cabin! The propane heater warmed the place up right away and kept us warm through the night. We loved the hot tub- easy to use and a fun experience to use the fire to get it going! Jerry was attentive and answered any questions we had right away! Cookware and games were provided! We’ll definitely be coming back here!

There are some battery powered lights in the cabin, but I'd suggest bringing some lanterns or flashlights, especially if arriving after dark.

Jerry’s land was great! He was a great host and provided nearly everything we needed to have a great time outdoor. The hot tub was our favorite part. We had a lot of privacy at the cabin as well. He recharged the battery pack provided for us for the lights and charging our phones. I would definitely recommend Baby Bear’s Cabin to anyone wanting to have a great glamping experience!
