NOW BOOKING FOR 2026!! Nestled along the banks of Lewis Creek on a small-batch gourd farm in Vermont's Champlain Valley, the Gourdchard House (a portmanteau of "gourd orchard") is a 176 sq ft artist's retreat unlike anything else you'll find. Step outside and you're steps from the creek. Cast a line, dip your feet, or simply listen to the water from your camp chair. This is the kind of place where you actually unplug. Lewis Creek is a well-known fly fishing destination in the Champlain Valley. Steelhead run the creek in early spring from the falls in North Ferrisburgh down to Lake Champlain, and the creek also holds brown trout, smallmouth bass, and brook trout through the season. You're right on the water, no driving to a trailhead required. Your hosts are mixed-media artists who live and work on the property year-round. The homestead has its own quiet creative energy such as gardens, a gourd orchard, forest trails, and a homemade disc golf course to explore at your own pace. Evenings belong to the fire pit. Good to know before you book: -->The loft stairs are steep — please factor this in if mobility is a concern --> Guests must be comfortable maintaining a composting toilet (it's easier than it sounds, full instructions provided) --> Height note: guests over 6'0" / 182 cm may find some areas snug --> Only biodegradable soaps permitted (provided) --> This is a three-season rental (spring through fall) Wildlife sightings on the property include bobcats, porcupines, and a remarkable variety of birds. We share at the end of a small, rural road....come ready to slow down.Gourdchard House (a portmanteau of “gourd” and “orchard”) is a three-season artist’s retreat along the banks of Lewis Creek in North Ferrisburgh, VT. Currently on a Seasonal Pause — See You in the Spring! The Gourdchard House will be closed from October 24, 2025 through April 15, 2026 while we hibernate for the winter (and wait out Vermont’s final frosty breath). But don’t worry — we’ll be back as soon as the snow melts and the meadows wake up! Spring at the Gourdchard is pure magic: birds return, the fields turn green, and our new batch of gourds starts growing in the spring. Bookings for spring 2026 are now open! Reserve your stay early and be among the first to experience the Gourdchard House coming back to life. This self-sufficient 176 square foot tiny home is located on a small-batch gourd farm with the artists/owners who are in residence year-round. The kitchen is equipped with a fridge, two-burner electric stove, convection oven/air fryer, and furnished coffee/tea station. The bathroom has a full-sized shower stall and guests must be comfortable maintaining a composting toilet during their stay. A small couch, storage nook, and Murphy dining table make the living space cozy. A full-sized bed with Purple mattress is located in the lofted bedroom accessible via permanent stairs, which are rather steep. Inside, the sink and shower water recycle into the landscape making this a truly sustainable home! Only biodegradable soaps are permitted (provided with your rental fee). Most people like how cozy this small space is, but those on the taller side (above 72 inches / 182 cm) may be uncomfortable. We have a lovely seating area and fire pit outside the tiny house for you to enjoy nature. Guests are welcome to explore the property’s gardens and forests, homemade disc golf course, and share s'mores over an evening fire. We value our connection with nature so use your stay to unplug and listen to the sounds of Vermont’s birds which are active on our property. We often see wildlife like bobcats or porcupines on our property.
