Retreat to Grandmother Cherry Sanctuary where sacred woodlands, medicinal gardens, and a healing sanctuary welcomes you to retreat. Named after a 300 year old Black Cherry Tree and matriarch of the land, Grandmother Cherry Sanctuary is a member of the Old Growth Forest Network and a Certified Wildlife Habitat. Located in the mountains on a south facing slope below Spruce Mountain (3000 ft. peak), 7 acres of lovingly tended open and full canopy forest offers connection to elemental magic and seclusion from the outside world. Walking and snowshoe trails, turtle and frog pond with gentle stream, hammocks hanging in the woods, meditation and ancestor portals, fire circles, birds and friendly wildlife, and medicinal floral and herb gardens abound the landscape.Witchy Woods campsite is a private, shady knoll in a diverse deciduous forest with lush tree canopies overhead. Guests immerse in a 360 degree view of a beautifully cared for forest sanctuary, with campsite amenities for a witchy woodland fort vibe. The site is about a five minute hike from car parking and wheel barrels are available to support transport. This is an ideal spot for sleeping hammocks and lounging hammocks are located nearby and throughout the woods. An open bottom screened in canopy with two cots offers outside sleeping, bug protection, or space for a small tent. There is space for two small tents or a larger tent nearby. A stone fire circle, potable water, tree counter, table, chairs, and camp box with basic camp supplies (including a portable grill with gas) is provided. A composting toilet is located a short walk away. Witchy Woods is an ideal campsite for folks interested in secluded forest camping that is also located on protected land where the homeowners live and tend a small herbal farm, apothecary, and healing sanctuary. The campsite is private, on a slopeside below the house and gardens, and there may occasionally be other sanctuary guests walking through the woods.

Campfires allowed

Firewood provided, private. Gather downed dead wood as you wish. Larger split firewood is available (cash or venmo) for $10 for a wheel barrel full.

Toilet available

Flush toilet, composting toilet. There is a composting toilet in the woods near the campsite. You can also use the bathroom in the garage basement.

Pets allowed

Off leash, on leash. Pets are allowed off leash in the woods and by your campsite and in the yard/near house if they don’t chase cats.

Tap, hose, bottled water or jugs. Water refills are available at house with an outside hose or in the garage basement.

Cooking equipment present

Grill over firepit, bbq, communal, private, oven, stovetop or hot plate, fridge, freezer, cookware, cooking utensils, dishware, cutlery, basic seasoning and oils, sink or other dishwashing station. The private campsite is equipped with basic camp kitchen supplies including a small gas grill. The garage basement has a communal kitchen you are welcome to access if needed.

Great hospitality and experience!

Witchy Woods Campsite

Very quiet and secluded campground. The trunk full of sundries (coffee, creamer and all manner of cooking gear) was a nice addition to the experience. And a wheelbarrow of nice dry wood created a roaring blaze which was what I needed to dry out my socks after a wet day of cycling :) Rae and Mitch were welcoming and very communicative (thank you for the map and the directions to the portals!) I had a great stay!

Witchy Woods Campsite

Rae and Mitch have a very sweet home surrounded by beautiful gardens, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The camp site was lovely, secluded and safe. They have an incredible set-up complete with bug tent, cots, and most of the cooking and cleaning supplies you could need. We had all the essential gear with us but were pleasantly surprised by how well equipped the space was. Also noting for any other queer couples traveling through many different spaces: we were very warmly received by Rae and Mitch and so appreciated their welcoming hospitality!
