Site 1 - La Sal Junction Campground
This is a great little spot outside Moab for quiet stargazing.
The campground and 4x4 mechanic shop sit at La Sal Junction - the junction of two highways. With a vintage service station housing the bathroom, shower & an office. Everything was clean & worked well.
At dark, solar lights point the way - because it is DARK once the sun goes down perfect for stargazing.
The land happens to be where my grandparents lived about 30-35 years ago. It was so special to visit & stay with my own kids for this trip. While a lot has changed, Mike has taken great care to maintain & improve the site with a nice pond, picnic tables, marked camp sites & more.

Very close to arches, right off of the highway which felt more comfortable as we were visiting Utah for the first time.
Had a junk yard gas station vibe and we LOVED it. Showers were hot, bathrooms clean, and met a lovely grey junkyard cat that we named Frankie.

Needing a place to camp in a pinch it was great to be there. A good restroom and one shower for those of us with tents, it served it’s purpose. Sites not learnt marked. Would be nice to have a fire pit for each site. Overall we were glad it was there.

Everything was as advertised- plenty of space, super friendly people (owners and other guests), and there was even a friendly mousing cat!

Nothing at this junkyard site was anything like the pics and info provided. We reserved, paid, slowed down and looked and kept going.

The campsite was great! Mike was super friendly. Our campsite didn’t have a picnic table or fire pit when we got there so he drove one over. Him and his friends showed us around the site and even gave us some firewood. Super great stay, definitely recommend

Very basic. Looks busy but very quiet. No septic but water and electric. Pond, picnic table, fire ring, garbage. Views. No wifi or cell service. I would stay there again

Mike was very kind and helped us out in a crisis. I would recommend this hipcamp. Sure was level, water was good and fire pits were stocked with wood. 👍 If you need a down-to-earth spot to enjoy the beautiful area with your pets, this will work.

The host was great, this is a new campground and it had everything we needed. There are only 3 sites with electric service and the host limits how many people will be camping there at the same time. It was a little confusing where to enter and park. Mike thew host is trying to improve the campground everyday and one day I think it will be a preferred destination.

This listing is nowhere near accurate. The pictures provided in the description are not pictures of where you’ll actually be staying. This site is located in a junkyard/mechanic shop that is open for business during the day - full of workers and customers. The bathroom is disgusting - clumps of hair all over the shower, dirty sponges and smelled horribly. Also, bathroom is located on the complete opposite side of this junkyard which makes for an interesting experience at night. Wifi doesn’t work at campsites. The drive into Moab is easy but far. The drive wouldn’t be a concern if this site was as advertised. We originally booked 3 nights, but left after 2 because the site was this bad. We wouldn’t have stayed at all but our schedule wouldn’t allow this. Very disappointed and I think the listing is extremely misleading.

Overall our experience was ok. However, I would have appreciated transparency that we would be camping behind an old gas station and repair shop. It was kind of cool that the gas station was turned into the shower and bathroom and it is clean, but it leaves a lot lacking still.
I work remotely and one of the reasons I booked this site was because it had wifi. However, I had to park right next to the repair shop to get 2 bars.
The sites were level and there was electricity. However, it started raining around 4am and by 6am, I was afraid we’d be stuck in the muddy campsite, so I left before the mud/rain got worst.

This campsite has very much a salvage yard type of feel. I know they were in the midst of prep for Easter Jeep Safari and because this is a working Offroad shop's parking lot, it's full of parts / parts vehicles in various states of disrepair. If you're after a tranquil spot to connect to nature, this probably isn't it. If you're looking for a place to park your RV while you go run trails in MOAB its probably fine. Though the pictures are accurate I feel like they're a bit mis-leading. We paid to stay here for 4 days and decided to head to BLM land instead. I didn't ask for a refund but maybe should have.

La Sal Junction Campground
Because the location is about 15 minutes outside Moab, the night skies were beautiful here. It is relatively quiet, clean, has a restroom, and a shower with hot water. If you are a light sleeper in a tent, you may be able to hear the traffic as the location is right off the highway. Sarah was very responsive and even has firewood and ice on property for sale.

Sarah was awesome and attentive. Campground, although it had power and water, was still "primitive". Sites need leveling. Mike was helpful in flipping our axles back. Quiet, restful place.

What a great hidden treasure this turned out to be. Host was great and so easy to work with. We are last minute planners and our host was able to get us in and settled so graciously. Very private location with river views. We rooftop tent camped and had a great time. I drive a 4x4 which made my access easier than a car, but I think a car can still make it. A great site and thanks for having us.

The host was awesome! Very accommodating and kind. We booked last minute and she was great about it. She even let us know about some great things to check out. Which we did and loved.
The benefit of wifi was REALLY nice since we had very spotty service.
The ability to buy ice and take a shower were also two really great things to have in the desert!
Only con: There was road noise, but it’s in between two roads, so it was expected.
