Wahwahtaysee Resort was started by a local Austin family, Robert Dillard and his two sons, Sammy and Donny Dillard. They had a vision to create a local getaway for their family and friends to escape the city life and experience the great outdoors.  Wahwahtaysee is Native American for firefly. Soon after purchasing the property, the family went camping together during the Spring. At dusk, the property was surrounded by fireflies. They had never seen so many fireflies at once, and it was an unforgettable experience.  We hope everyone enjoys Wah-wah-tay'see as much as we do. - Robert, Sammy, and Donny   Learn more about this land: Set on over 100 acres of pristine wilderness on the San Marcos River just 50 miles south of Austin is Wahwahtaysee Resort, a luxury glamping retreat. The property features three carefully appointed safari tents that allow you to enjoy all of life’s luxuries amidst the great outdoors, creating a truly unique experience. __________________________________________________________________________________ The safari tents, which were made in South Africa, feature all the amenities of a five star resort. The bedroom boasts a king-size bed, and there is a queen sleeper sofa in the living room for additional guests. The modern bathroom comes with a large shower and a spa bathtub. Luxury linens, bedding, and towels are provided. A kitchenette comes equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, and a coffeemaker and there is a dining area to enjoy your meals. With air conditioning, heating, and hardwood floors, you’ll enjoy all the comforts of a five star resort, while surrounded by beautiful nature. The spacious living area extends outdoors onto the expansive deck where you can truly disconnect from day-to-day life and reconnect with the great outdoors. There is outdoor furniture and a hammock, providing the perfect spot for relaxing with a book or a morning cup of coffee while nature provides a soothing soundtrack. There is also an outdoor shower for a truly unique experience. Lastly, there is a Green Egg to grill your own meals. ____________________________________________________________________________________ With over 100 acres of land and extensive river frontage, Wahwahtaysee Resort offers something for everyone. Rest and relax in the luxurious safari tents, hike the property's many walking trails, pick pecans in the 150 year old pecan orchard, or explore the numerous private beaches on the aquamarine San Marcos River.

      Luxury Glamping * San Marcos River!
      The hosts thought of everything! The yurts were very well stocked, and the land was beautiful. My family loved the provided golf carts, and loved exploring the trails. Everyone we encountered was super friendly. Only issue we had was the weather, which can't be controlled, lol. Definitely want to come back when there isn't an insane heat wave!

      Luxury Glamping * San Marcos River!
      We had a wonderful time and the site far exceeded our expectations. Everything was first class and so enjoyable! Plenty of seating and all bedding was fantastic! Donny (host) kept in contact but not intrusive. Would highly recommend to anyone (glamping, couples or families) to anyone looking for a great getaway.

      Beautiful tents. Kids loved golf carts. Can’t wait to go back in the summer. Dogs had a blast also ❤️

      Luxury Glamping * San Marcos River!
      After driving past a river and through a beautiful canopy of trees, it was clear that our hosts transforming their 100 acres into something where people could really come and experience luxury in the midst of their beautiful land. We were greeted by our host, who graciously showed us all three of the luxury safari tents and told us the vision that his family had for the place. The tent we got to stay in was designed by his parents, and the other two were designed by their children. Each tent showed us a little glimpse into their families personality, their passion for connecting people to the land they love, and their eye for design and luxury! We spent the early part of our trip enjoying the safari tents because it was raining outside, and we were so cozy as we were surrounded by windows as we watched the rain fall. Once things cleared up we enjoyed an incredible sunset in the field next to our tent, we took a hike on the trail that had been cleared and laid down with rocks, and spent some time swimming in the river which is just a short hike or drive away. The place was immaculate, and really allowed us to take in the beauty of the Texas Hill Country! Our hosts were full of recommendations for how to spend our time, and gave us plenty of privacy once they got us settled in. Plus sides to glamping: we had a huge bath tub, a stand up indoor shower, a toilet, an outdoor shower, a microwave, a grill, a fire pit, and the most comfortable bed and pull-out bed known to man. I would recommend this place over and over again!
