Greener Acres minutes from Roan Mountain State Park and the Appalachian Trail. Use Greener Acres campsite as your jumping-off point for fun nearby activities or relax on our 40 acre mountainside property and watch for meteor showers in the clear night sky! Within 5 minutes, you can be at Roan Mountain State Park or drive 5-10 minutes to hike the Appalachian Trail. Head up to Carvers Gap just below Roan Mountain High Knob where you can hop out and enjoy a short walk to a scenic view of both the TN and NC mountains or visit the famous Rhododendron Gardens in season. Campsite also boasts energizing, private hike up to Heaton Ridge. Want to spend the day kayaking or canoeing? Head to Wilbur Lake, about a 30 minute drive away from our campsite. Exploring Laura Falls is only a 20 minute drive away. Blue Ridge Parkway, Blowing Rock, and Grandfather Mountain in N.C. are about 30-45 minutes away. The Smokey Mountains, Gatlinburg, and Dollywood are about a 2 hour drive through amazing mountain views. The annual Rhododendron Festival takes place minutes away. Supplies can be found at the state park camp store or in town at Redi-Mart or Dollar General. Water and showers are down by barn. A Gator is available for the duration of your stay. Please arrive before sundown so we can meet you the first time you stay to show you the way and make sure you are comfortable driving Gator. We will have you follow us up to the campsite and from there you can come and go and just leave the Gator by your car near the barn when you are out and about and when checking out. A small Bluetti power charging station will be available in the tent (for light charging of cell phones, other) which can be recharged by the barn if used heavily. A Coleman stove with a small propane tank, pots, a frying pan and utensils is also included in the site. Another small propane tank is provided for the radiator in the tent.

This site is situated next to the creek. We have a rock fire ring, picnic table and charcoal grill. Firewood is provided but please bring your own charcoal and grill tools if you plan to use the grill. A short walk to the bathroom and parking. There is an Apiary (bee hives) nearby. The bees don't usually bother people. This host have never been stung and they don't bother the campsite, it's 40 feet away. If you are allergic or afraid of bees then maybe this isn't the right site for you. Feel free to take pictures and watch them do their work but don't leave an open jar of honey out or they may rob you. Honey for sale at our neighbors apiary.

Our tent site is atop a scenic overlook.. We strive to provide everything you may need for a memorable stay. Just bring your food and enjoy. We provide: - A canvas tent on a wooden platform - Inside tent: Queen bed, sheets, blanket, quilt, 2 pillows, 1 folding chair, Bluetti power charging station, 2 side tables, propane-powered radiator, fire extinguisher, battery-powered Coleman lamps, rope & wood ladder and S hooks for hanging coats, etc. - Outside tent: Outhouse; bear box with extra bin for food; 2 Adirondack chairs around a small fire pit with cooking grill, wood & fire starters and 2 S’more sticks; picnic table and 2 benches; full-size grill with one side burner and grill tongs and utensils; cooking pots & pan; coffee pot; cooking utensils; dishware for 4; first aid kit; 5 gallon water jug; basic dishwashing supplies; and, trash can. In case of rain, we do have a 10x10 canopy available to cover the cooking area. By the barn: parking; water refill station; public bathroom and shower; and a John Deere Gator to use to take to site which is not car-friendly. We will provide a 6 person dome tent you can pitch if you need more room, just let us know in advance. You will need to bring your own sleeping pads, sleeping bags, etc for this extra tent.

My boys and I stayed at Greener Acres for three nights and had an awesome experience. The restroom access and Wi-Fi were super convenient, and Brian was a thoughtful host who pointed us toward some great local spots. The location made it easy to get to Roan Mountain State Park, which was perfect for our trip. We’d definitely stay here again.

We had a wonderful stay at Greener Acres and appreciate Brian sharing his beautiful property with us. The tent site was spacious and we enjoyed the fall leaves, mountain views, bees/ squirrels/ chipmunks and hearing the creek nearby. The barn bathroom & shower were a camper's luxury and super clean. Hope to stay here again and try the other sites (and drive the Gator)! Thank you, Brian!

Terrific spot! Bathroom is better than some hotels. Very clean, warm and convenient. Location next to a creek was very nice and our host was right on time with everything and extremely helpful. The bathroom alone makes this place outstanding but the location as well close to Banner elk and other areas was great. Like Roan Mt state park. Just in town there was also great eating. The Americano steakhouse was excellent. Highly recommend this spot for its bathroom, location, free firewood and privacy.

Such a beautiful place! Loved my stay here. It was quiet, and I felt safe solo camping. Would 100% stay here again. So convenient to Carver’s Gap, which made it easy to get up there early and beat the crowds!

My friend and I had a fantastic tent camping stay at Brian and Sarah’s lovely property! Brian was there to greet us and show us around the property. We set our tent up on a beautiful little creek in the shade and the ground was flat. It was very quiet and peaceful. They have a very nice bathroom and shower that we were able to use. Unfortunately, our tent leaked on the first night and we were able to use a dome tent that Brian had in his workshop. We really appreciate the fact that he had that! Brian and Sarah are very gracious and we’re incredibly helpful and responsive to all of my texts. I would definitely go back to that camping site. We were able to get in three beautiful hikes up at Roan Mountain. Thank you so much for sharing your property with us Brian and Sarah! It was the perfect spot for a wonderful long weekend!

I had a very peaceful time at Green Acres which was greatly appreciated. The land was very clean as was the bathroom area. There was plenty of wood that was provided. That’s always a plus. I would most definitely recommend this area to a friend, and plan on going back to hike around Carvers Gap area.

We had a great stay! Wish we could have stayed longer. Brian & Sarah are great hosts. We usually stay at the State Park but so glad we found this campsite. So much better. The bathroom is just a short walk. Very clean bathrooms. Loved the rugged farmhouse style of the bathroom. The campsite is right by the creek. Was so relaxing to hear the creek at night. No cell service but great wifi available. Firewood and grill available for use. Looking forward to our next stay.

The property was lovely and had great views. It was very close to the Roan Mountain State Park. Everything was very clean and well thought out. They even provided individual s'mores kits for the kids. The hosts let us use their tackle box and fishing poles for their well-stocked pond. It rained a lot but we had no issues with the tent leaking or any trouble getting up the mountain with the gator. Would definitely recommend staying here for a stress-free get away!

I loved solo camping here. With the creek running by the back of the site, it’s such a peaceful spot. The bathroom was super clean and seems like it was recently renovated. I also loved fishing on the private pond, catching several bass and bluegill. Brian was a fantastic host and helped me a ton by helping me get into a new tent since mine failed to hold up during the rainy weekend. I could not recommend this site enough, I will definitely come again.

Camping here was such a delight! Brian was very helpful with any questions or concerns. Loved all the wonderful amenities. Hearing the creek run while looking out at North Carolina is so peaceful! Having access to the gator was not only extremely helpful but SO fun to drive up!

Brain is a super nice host. Answers any questions you might have and leaves you alone to enjoy his amazing property. We stayed at the creek site which was super peaceful listening to it at the campsite. Bathroom was super convenient and clean. The campsite is located perfect next to a lot of really beautiful hikes. 5 starts look forward to staying again.

Brian and his wife’s campsite was very peaceful, clean, and well-ordered. The sound of the stream was very relaxing - the barn bathroom was very tidy, warm, and cozy. Grateful for this campsite, especially after a long drive/hike.

The Glampsite is as beautifully situated with an expansive view, and as comfortable and as private and as well-supplied as the reviews and descriptions stated, and the port-o-john on-site and the bathroom down the hill are both immaculate. Brian was quickly responsive to our questions prior to our stay and Sarah greeted us warmly and with a thorough introduction to the site and the use of the Gator. Highly recommend!! And we anticipate returning again!

The question Hipcamp asks is, "Would you recommend this to a friend." This puts me in tough dilemma. I mean, of course I think my friends should know about it. But I also want to keep this one to myself! This spot is wonderful! And it's proximity to some of the AT's most beautiful hiking makes it a prime location. Brian stopped by and greeted us when we set up, and then left us alone. The site and the amenities were pristine. It was easy to find, too.

I loved this camping spot! A short drive to some of the most beautiful hikes/views in the eastern US. I felt safe as a solo camper here. Thank you Brian for being a great host, I would absolutely stay here again!

Loved this camp spot and would definitely go back! Beautiful spot next to the creek and it felt very private. The bathroom was lovely and definitely much better than any bathroom you could find at a state park campground. They also let us pick some apples from the apple tree next to the campsite! Highly recommend!

We had an amazing stay at the creekside tent site at Greener Acres! The peaceful sound of the creek provided the perfect backdrop for a relaxing getaway. The site offered great privacy, and the amenities exceeded our expectations. The bathrooms were spotless, with hot water for showers, and the clean potable water was a nice touch. We also appreciated the complimentary firewood—perfect for cozy evenings around the fire pit. The host was incredibly responsive and helpful, making our stay even more enjoyable. The location was ideal, with Carvers Gap just 10-15 minutes away, where we spent a day hiking. We also loved just relaxing by the creek and exploring the property a bit. We highly recommend this site to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat in nature. We’ll definitely be returning!

We had a great time at Greener Acres Hillside Glamping. The campsite is very private, quiet, and the views are incredible! Brian and Sarah provide everything you need for a comfortable stay. Seriously, we were both really impressed with the attention to detail, everything that was included and the value for our money. I would definitely return here and highly recommend this campsite to anyone who may be considering it. Will definitely visit again in the future.

The land is beautiful and very private. Brian greeted us as we arrived and told us what we needed to know. The bathroom was very nice and clean and it felt great to have a hot shower at the end of the day after hiking. There was a picnic table and wood for the firepit. We were a group of 4-6 (on different nights) so we had plenty of room to spread out for our multiple tents. The location was also very convenient with great hiking in either direction about 20 minutes away. After seeing the state park camping ground and how close the sites were to each other, this was a much better choice for our needs. I would return.

We loved this camping experience on Brian’s land! Great hospitality with breathtaking views. The site has everything you would need for a stress free weekend in the mountains. Not to mention our dog having the time of her life. Everything you would want to do- hike, fish, and swim within a 10 minute drive. We wish we found this place sooner, we’ll definitely be returning for another stay!

Brian was so kind and the land was beautiful! He sent us directions prior to our trip and when we did not have service to load them he made sure to direct us to the correct location even though it was later in the evening. The bathroom was extremely clean! Would love to come again to spend the weekend. Extremely close to Roan Mountain State Park and right by Carver’s Gap, we were able to stay late and watch sunset and wake up early for sunrise. Clear skies and plenty of stars! A babbling creek flows near the property which made it a perfect get away destination.

We had a great time here. Slept amazing by the creek, the scenery was beautiful, and having a hot shower was awesome! Would recommend this location to friends/ family! Host was also very nice and helpful.
