Elk Haven Horse Camp stands out as a unique destination due to its rich history and commitment to equestrian excellence. Established in 1939 by Elis Albery and his sons, Vern and Vergil, the camp originally operated as the Iron Mountain Cafe. The Albery family thrived during challenging times, expanding their offerings to include four cozy single-room cabins and a wash/shower house. In the off-season, Mr. Albery guided elk and deer hunts, providing accommodations for hunters in the cabins while also selling fresh milk, cream, butter, chickens, and eggs year-round. Today, Elk Haven is owned by Josh and Jackie Stuart, who purchased the camp in 2021. With a strong background in horses and entrepreneurship, Jackie has built a successful business braiding custom horse halters, which has expanded to include high-quality mohair cinches and breast collars, earning her a loyal clientele. Josh is a versatile craftsman, skilled in leatherworking, creating everything from horse gear to gun holsters, knife sheaths, and saddle repairs. He also serves as a farrier, ensuring the horses at the camp receive top-notch care.
