Our property is a rock climbing spot and a camping area. To get to the rock shelter you need to do a short hike in a rocky trail, mostly steep, sometimes muddy and climb an inclined (drilled into the rock and ground) 10ft ladder with no hand rails. Includes: shared full bathroom, private tent area in rock shelter with set up, 1 parking spot and more. The space The uniqueness of this place is that the owners backyard’s property is a FOREST 🌳 with a natural rock climbing wall 🧗‍♂️ for NON climbers AND climbers but can also choose to stay camping. You will sleep in a natural rock shelter as your private room!. This is the way our natives used to sleep and made rituals. The zone is a famous archaeological site. WHATS INCLUDED? ⛺️🍽🚽 It includes: 👉🏼 2-person backpacking style tent 👉🏼full size air mattress set up 👉🏼pillows and bed sheets 👉🏼1 parking spot 👉🏼full shared bathroom 👉🏼a battery operated fan 👉🏼storage box 👉🏼camping stove with coffee maker in the cave 👉🏼 total privacy 👉🏼 swing 👉🏼 campfire area Maximum persons: 2 ACCESS details: 🗺 Your rock shelter name is Refugio Caney. You will have a video in your self check in instructions to make it easier for you to get there on your own. You need to bring good grip shoes for the trail and your hands should be totally free. Bathroom and parking spot are located at the entrance of our property, at about 3-4 minutes hiking from the rock shelter. Let us know in advance to have it available for you. 2- Bring your towel / or we can provide it at no additional cost. 3- Since you need to hike for about 3-4 minutes to get there you need: boots or similar good grip shoes. 4- Check in before sunset. 4- Bring in a backpack only items you will use.

It includes: - queen size bed mattress - Full bathroom - open shower (only shower curtain) - parking inside the property - counter and sink - potable water service - Mini fridge - 2 electrical plugs in bathroom - campfire area - partially isolated area (3 houses withing 1,000 meters) - total privacy, no one else will share this space with you - Utensils (2 burner camping stove, coffee maker, mugs, cups, spoons, forks, knife, dishes) The Tiny House is somehow similar, in dimensions, to a tent except that is wooden, it has 3 windows and 1 door. Dimensions inside: 8ft x 8ft x 6ft The design was inspired in the famous quote “Less House, More Home”. We hope you love it. Suggestions: 1- You can bring a grill if you want to but never put it near wood structures. 2- Bring headlamps/lanterns. There are some solar lights in surroundings and electrical lights in the pergola area. 3- If you want to make a campfire buy Duraflame logs in Walmart. 4- Be wise using our precious resource water 5- Extra shoes sometimes if it rains you may step on mud. 6- Bug spray 8- You can add extra persons who want to bring their tents and share the space with you. Let us know in advance to adjust pricing. RULES! 1- Do NOT flush toilet paper. It will get clogged. 2- NO shoes inside the Tiny House, put them one a trash bag if you want to keep it inside. 3- You shouldn’t leave fire unattended such as stove, bbq, campfire or any other. If you don’t know how to make a campfire let us know to send you a video. 4- Please leave all trash bags properly sealed in trash cans to avoid wildlife. 5- Bathroom and Tiny House should be left closed once you leave and the keys locked at the lock box. 6- Pets are not allowed in this stay. 7- All utensils should be left as found. Do not leave food in surroundings, keep all your food away from wildlife reach. 8- Silence hours: 10pm - 7am 9- Safety: At this moment a small part of the parking area is fenced out of your reach as we are making some upgrades. Important note 📝 You can always avoid additional charges! Extra efforts in cleaning or leaving our place vulnerable after your use, you will be billed for that.

Awesome place lots of wild crazyhar

Host made it super easy for us to self check in the dark. What we didn’t know was the spiders. And Puerto Rico’s night time creatures were super creepy. The next day we met the hosts and the were so friendly and helpful. Bring headlamps! They are not provided but a small tent fan with battery was. I did read the reviews about how noisy the Highway can be but we didn’t care. Although yes it was quite noisy but so worth the experience. The hosts can’t do too much about how the sound travels. I would try one more time but man those big spiders and baby tarantulas are no joke. All over the cases

It was a great experience camping at Refugio Caney this February! The hosts were kind and hospitable as well as the incredible area Roca Norte is in. Would recommend as a new visitor of Puerto Rico to be able to rent a car. As well, get ready to cook!

Rock Shelter Camping - Vega Baja

Rude host, non-marked, dangerous trails, no safe place to park your car and you can hear and see the highway from tent sites! Our reservation started with a brief, rushed explanation of the non-existent trail to our tent site, where Marianela called “pigs” her last guests for leaving water bottle caps behind. She rushed the explanation and sent us down the trail and did not even offer to guide us. The “bathroom” and “kitchen” area are in her house’s porch and backyard! Nowhere near the caves nor tents. Ended up leaving once we reached the cave and saw there was absolutely nothing to do but see and hear the highway.

Unique Nature Experience!

Rock Shelter Camping - Vega Baja

Very cool and unique experience. The location is very beautiful and climbing is incredible. You really feel at one with nature in this place. And the dining / kitchenette area is decorated beautifully. Definitely bring your own water and snacks because the bathroom, sink and kitchenette is a bit of a hike away from the rock shelter campsites. Also, if you’re staying in the campsite that you need to climb into with the ladder, know that it’s a very rickety ladder and make sure you can carry all of your things in a backpack because it’s quite difficult to carry everything up to the campsite if you’re holding things in your hands. The hike isn’t too long, but it’s pretty steep going up thru the woods. Thankfully they’ve rope set up to help you walk up the more vertical parts. The night we stayed was pretty hot and I forgot to ask the host to lend me the fan that was in the description, which would have been nice to have. If you have one, I would recommend bringing it. Also if you have trouble sleeping at night, bring some earplugs or sleeping pills to help you sleep soundly.

Rock Shelter Camping - Vega Baja

A place to disconnect and be at peace. The hosts are amazing and welcoming and have every protocol perfectly in place. My husband enjoyed his first rock climbing experience and felt safe with such knowledgeable guides. We stayed at one of the rock shelters and yes, it takes you out of your comfort zone, but for all the right reasons. It makes you want to go every day. Totally worth the climb! Thank you to both of you, keep up your amazing service!
