McMillan Woods Youth Campground stands out as a unique destination within Gettysburg National Military Park, offering a serene and immersive experience for organized youth groups in a picturesque wooded setting. This primitive campground features 10 campsites, each equipped with two picnic tables and a fire ring, accommodating groups of 15 to 35 people depending on the site. Visitors can enjoy a variety of recreational activities in the park, including hiking, biking, and engaging ranger programs. The area is also a haven for wildlife enthusiasts, with opportunities to observe white-tailed deer, red foxes, and other native species in their natural habitat. The campground provides essential amenities, including nine portable toilets, one accessible unit, and two potable water faucets. Trash and recycling receptacles are available to help maintain the pristine environment. While tents and dining canopies are the only permitted shelters, camp stoves using propane or white gas are allowed. Please note that all wood fires must be contained within the designated fire rings. However, there are no shower facilities on-site, so campers should plan accordingly for their hygiene needs.
