We are having a lovely fall on the River. Mornings are foggy but, the days warm up and there have been amazing sunsets.
The salmon have begun their journey up river so by mid to end of to end of October they will be up to our property (aproximately 8 miles up river from Hwy 101). There are a lot of boats up and down the river trying to catch "the big one". You can see the salmon roll from our dock and you can try your hand at fishing off the dock too. If you have a boat, we have room for it and there is a nice ramp to put in a few miles down river.
Our campsites are easily accessible by vehicle and we have room for tents, small trailers and camper vans too. The sites are relatively level and grassy, situated under large spruce trees. We are still in tidewater here so both sites sit above the river (about a 15' river bank at high tide). If you want to be on the river, there is access from our personal ramp and dock. The river temperature is cooling down so swimming is still fine just be aware it's cold. Our dock has a ladder so it is easy to get back up. We love dogs and they are allowed on the dock and in the water but, keep a close eye on them as they may not be familiar with getting back up on the dock with a ladder.
We do have an indoor Loo and shower...Yay! (byo towels, shampoo, etc) Feel free to use the electric kettle to warm water for coffee, hot cocoa, tea or cider. The space is shared by each of the guests we have.
We also offer our little sleeping cabin, the Glass House for an extra fee.
PLEASE NOTE.....We didn't realize how popular our little sleeping cabin would be so to avoid double booking and disappointing our guests, we will keep you posted on the availability. The Glass House is currently AVAILABLE these dates:
AVAILABLE:
October 9th-12th
October 16th/17th
November 11th-20th
December 1st on into January
It has a comfortable inflatable mattress and an electric heater to take the chill off and a comfy chair Just BRING YOUR OWN sleeping bags and pillows (There is a comforter on the bed just for looks and to help make the air mattress more comfortable). We do our best to keep the dampness out but, we are on the Oregon Coast and buildings get a little musty. We do use a dehumidifier when it is not in use to help. It is located in our "Riverside" site. We do not book that site for other campers while you are using the Glass House. **We will be making updates to the Glass House to make it a bit more homey.
The sites: We have two nice camp sites, they are about 150' from one another.
Our "Riverside" site is closest to the River bank. You'll have your own deck for viewing the river and beautiful summer sunsets and your own fire pit. (This is where the Glass House is located.)
Our "Riverwood" site is about 150' inland from the riverbank, under large Spruce trees. You'll have a nice grassy area by an apple tree to set up camp and your own fire pit. You'll have access to enjoy the river and sunsets via our personal ramp and dock.
Bring your Kayak or SUP to explore the slow moving river (or rent ours!). Enjoy a wide variety of wildlife; migrating and resident birds, Beavers early in the morning and evenings. Our resident River Otters have been very active this summer. You'll see them in the morning and evenings swimming, playing and munching on Crawdads. There are Deer although we seldom see them on our property but, they are across the river. There is a huge heard of Elk down river...Oh, and have I mentioned the sunsets are amazing from the dock?
***A little more information:
We like to limit each camp site to 4 people to give everyone space. If you do have one or two more that is fine but, we have a per additional person charge. If you have more than 6 people you will be camping with we do recommend reserving both sites so you will have the entire area to yourselves.
Once you reserve a camp site you'll receive a welcome message with the physical address to the property and the instructions on how to navigate the property once you are here.
There is a HIPCAMP sign with an arrow to direct you to the 2 camp sites. There are also "END HIPCAMP" signs on our property lines to preserve our neighbors privacy.
Check-in is 2pm or later, check out is 12noon or before. To be respectful of other campers that are excited to get outdoors (and to allow us to clean the bathroom and make sure the property is ready for the next campers) we need to adhere to these times.
FIRE RESTRICTIONS - There are no fire restrictions currently but, we want you to extinguish fires when you leave the property. We have bottles of water at each site to do so. Also, we provide fire extinguishers if there is an emergency grass fire.
We have always loved this property adjacent to our house and are happy to share it with our guests. We really appreciate checking us out and hope you'll come camp with us!
Debbie and Rick, Luna and PiperWe are closed down for the rest of the fall and winter. We had a water pipe leak in our little apartment which serves as the bathroom/shower facility for our campsites so, we are mopping up, patching drywall and getting the place presentable again. Thanks for your patience. We are still taking reservations for spring, summer and fall of 2024 though...

Sneak peek...We will be putting in a real mattress (still bring your own sleeping bags and pillows please) And we will be installing a much better wall mounted heater for those chilly evenings. For now...It has a comfortable inflatable mattress and an electric heater for when it gets really cold, and a chair. The windows are covered with curtains for privacy. It is located in our "Riverside" site. We do not book that site to other campers while you are using the Glass House.

Just a note…there has been a bit of confusion over how many guests we allow per campsite. We limit each campsite to 4 people to give everyone enough space to enjoy the outdoors. A little about the property and us: We purchased this property 10 years ago. It includes 7 lots, two and a half that our house sits on, a couple of easements lots and these three lots that is bare land sitting under a beautiful stand of Spruce trees. The property and house had sat empty for about 3 years prior to us finding it and it was a mess, all overgrown with weeds and blackberry. We spent the first 3 years just bringing it back to a livable space. Back in the late 30's and 40's this stretch of the Siletz River was called Mack's Landing. The original house where there was a gas station and mercantile is still here and there were small fishing cabins along about 500' of river front. We still run into the concrete foundations from time to time. We had only dreamed of having a place on a river...somewhere... when we came across this property. We love the outdoors and have always loved camping with our kids. Rick is an avid fisherman/Hunter gatherer while Debbie enjoys kayaking, gardening, reading and watching the river go by. Thanks for checking us out! Debbie, Rick, and our two Heelers, Luna and Piper
