We absolutely love Cathryn's beautiful hipcamp on the Umpqua River in Roseburg. We went in late October so the weather was chilly and it rained a lot but we made the best of it. We had the entire campground to ourselves and just a few steps away from the most breathtaking river scene. My son enjoyed fishing and saw many huge salmon but unfortunately he didn't catch one next time perhaps. We have a 31ft RV and our friends had a smaller RV there are no hookups but that's how we love and enjoy camping. It is very peaceful with wild turkeys that ventured into our camps. There are no strict rules on dogs off leash which are pups love to explore and run around and frolic in the water it was amazing. Cathryn came by once to introduce herself and to answer any questions that we may have had. She also mentioned that they are going to do some improvements to the camp to get down to the water more accessible. Its all a work in process but it's beautiful just the way it is. We can't wait to book for the summer because there are many deep pools there to swim in. The only suggestion that I would have would be to move the front gate further down so that when you pull out of the gate you're not on the main road where it could potentially be dangerous. To be honest I really don't want to say too many great things about this place lol because we would love it to remain a secret 😜 It is definitely in the books for springtime. Easy access to the beautiful Umpqua River! A couple of campsites in the shade but plenty around the property. A pretty mellow stay even with as many people as were booked there. Blackberry bushes EVERYWHERE, yuuuum!!!
Please respect the no fire rules and this beautiful property, saw a bunch of deer and their babies!
A magical place indeed & the host was so sweet.

Terrible water access

I booked this over staying at a friend private property down the road so we would have water access easier for the older people in our group and safer for the kids to get to. It was a waste of $426, the water is not accessible to most people. You have to hold a rope and go down a steep bank. We ended up having to drive to whislers bend to find water access.

We loved this place! The natural beauty of the land and river is just fantastic. We made camp right by the river access trail. It was a very hot day and after a long drive, the river was a delightful way to cool off! We along with our dog swam and played in the water for quite a while decompressing from the day’s journey. Cathryn came and welcomed us and made sure we felt at home. We will definitely come back on our way up north. This was a perfect spot for our sprinter van as access was very easy.

Lovely site. Lots of options we found a site under the Hawthorne trees need the river. We pretty much had the place to ourselves, it might be less desirable if there more campers. Some sites are a little too open for my taste esp since it was quite warm the day we arrived. Porta potty was very clean. River access clearly marked and a dip in the cold water made the heat more bearable.

This place reminded me of why I bought my camper van: solitude and natural beauty. This former orchard (pear?) right along the Umpqua River was nearly empty and wonderfully quiet. Oddly enough, someone drove in at 10:30 pm, camped sort of nearby, and drove off before we woke up. Other than that, it was perfect.

My kids and I loved camping at Cat’s campground! The river was beautiful and so much fun for all of us- mini rapids to float and swimming holes even the toddler could enjoy. We’ll be back!!

Was looking for a place to stay for one night passing through, and Cathryn was responsive and kind. Directions were easy to follow and getting into the site was straightforward – I arrived after dark but things were easy to navigate with a headlamp. The open camping setup was great for one vehicle and a tent. Access to the river was perfect (bonus for blackberry bushes all around the area). Hope to be back!

We thoroughly enjoyed our second stay at this Hipcamp. We had the place pretty much to ourselves. Since it’s behind a locked gate the place feels especially safe and secure. We had no trouble navigating and parking our 17-foot travel trailer. The river is just a short hike and it’s a good swimming spot.

Great spot on the river! Had the place to ourselves- lots of choices for our perfect spot! Picked a ton of sweet ripe blackberries and swam in the river! Loved it! Just - write down gate code before you go because there is no signal out there to look up anything or call !!

We had a great time staying at this site. The location was beautiful. The river was amazing and perfect! There were lots of turkeys and other birds in the area to watch. The entire grounds were clean. We loved our stay and will definitely be returning again in the future!

My dog and I loved camping on Cat’s land! It was clean, easy to navigate, private from other campers, and peaceful. I love that we were able to set up anywhere and take a dip in the river! Will definitely be coming back. 😊

The ranch is beautiful! The dogs loved that they could run around, there was plenty of room to camp and set up a net for games. Not a lot of spots to jump in the water because there are a lot of big rocks but it may change thought the summer as the water goes down.
