We have come back every summer for a reason- this is a little slice of heaven and it’s our families favorite trip of the year! It’s absolutely beautiful!

Incredible trip again to River Front Retreat in Scottsburg! Great spot for camping with groups. Lots to explore and great atmosphere with the fields, river and mountains.

We had our 30 ft travel trailer and stayed at site #4 for 5 nights. We loved the location and privacy of Site 4, so did our dog! A large group stayed at sites 2 & 3 for 2 nights during our stay - but the sights were so big we felt secluded still. Getting in the river and enjoying the natural made pools was wonderful. They are surprisingly warm. When the tide rises it effects the river somehow even though we are inland quite a ways but the water becomes much deeper and you can't see the rocks anymore and of course the water cools off a lot. The location is great a home base, we went on hikes, SUP'd Loon lake, went to the dunes and Ocean. Don't forget to grab the fresh caught fish in Winchester bay to grill back at camp! There is a little highway noise but it really didn't bother us. Highly recommend Joshua's spot would stay here again!

Can't wait to come back! So much room for activities. The river is actually warm and great for swimming during low tide for people and dogs alike. And a huge bonus...NO MOSQUITOES! Not very often you get to camp near water and have no mosquitoes. That was wonderful. It does get a bit breezy but it kept us comfortable during the day. Definitely recommend warm sweats when hanging out in the evening though. One thing to note, though, is the sound of traffic. It is right off the highway so cars are loud but the amount of traffic significantly dies down at night so we didn't find it to be a problem. Like I said, we plan on coming back

Great camping spot

This was our second time staying here this summer and we had a lot of fun! The sites are very spacious and flat. We had 11 people in our group and there was more than enough space. The kids loved playing on the swing and going down to the river. Some reviews mention that the highway noise is bothersome but it didn't bother us at all. Overall this is a great place to stay, the kids are already asking to go back!

We just left today and we definitely want to come back again! Such a dream for a group with kids. Beautiful well kept property, clean bathrooms, easy river access, fun swings! It was so fun to see the river totally changed from a big wide full river down to low rock hounding levels! The kids had so much fun swimming. The weather was great, the water was warm! This property is great! Huge campsites!

We had spot 4 and it was nice and spacious. Lots of room for our off leash dogs to play without being in other campers areas. The road can be a little loud but we were in an RV so it wasn’t bad. Porta potty was clean and location was easy. We would stay again for sure.

Had a wonderful time camping with the family on site #4. Spent most of our time down at the river. Access to the river is a little steep but manageable and you want water shoes as the rocks are slick. Adding a few signs at the entrance of the property for directions would be helpful. We had a great time and I would recommend this spot!

Great spot with easy access to the river. We had a blast with so much room to roam. Dogs off leash was an extra bonus. We have stayed in Site 1 and 4. Site 1 was pretty windy compared to site 4 but the wind was cooling as it was hot. Would recommend Joshua’s sites.

Great camping spot! Lots of space to camp and great river access. The kids played a ton on the swing in the tree. Host was very communicative and helpful with questions. We took a gamble camping in June and ended up with pouring rain. We will definitely try this spot again when the weather is nicer!

Absolutely beautiful and pristine spot in the Oregon Coastal Range. The dog loved it, the teenagers loved it, and Mom and Dad loved it. All in spite of it being a rainy weekend. We will definitely come back.

This was our first Hipcamp experience and we were very pleased. This space was welcoming, clean, and well kept. We happened to have the whole place to ourselves (and a large flock of Canadian geese), and it was the perfect place to unwind. The view was gorgeous as the leaves were just starting to turn, and the river really was mesmerizing to watch as the water level changed throughout the day with the tides. You could easily find shade or sun any time of day. While traffic noise was noticable, we didn't find it offensive. Most state campgrounds have the same background noise and are also close to highways. This would be a great place for a large family camping trip or friends weekend. Great site directly on the Umpqua River. Although he has four sites, I was fortunate enough to be the only there with about 2-3 acres. The only draw back is Highway 20 noise 24/7. Despite traffic noise, I would return. Thanks Joshua

Fabulous large campsite on Umpqua River. Direct access to river for swimming and floating. We brought tubes and paddle boards and enjoyed it very much.

This was the perfect location for our annual camping trip. The kids loved playing in the water and climbing over the rocks. We were able to catch several fish and the kids loved how much space there was to play and the parents loved that we didn’t have to worry about bugging other people.

I found the river front retreat after the smoke from first fires thwarted our plans to camp outside of La Pine. My family and I were delighted to have access to the Umpqua River at the River Front Retreat! Joshua the host was responsive and informative. The campsites were spacious with access to sunshine and shade. My grandkids loved the swings and we all floated the river and high tide, hunting for agates and lower tides. I loved sitting at the river front watching the geese and enjoying the peacefulness. The reviews were accurate-some highway noise did not overshadow the other aspects: clean and close-by honey buckets, trash can, horse shoe toss, swings, and shared river front access! I highly recommend River Front Retreat!!

We found this wonderful location after a full day of searching for available campsites and striking out — Joshua’s property was perfect for our group and ended up being the weekend haven we didn’t know we needed. Incredibly spacious which allows a feeling of privacy even between sites. River access was awesome and watching the water level change was way cool. Picnic tables, great fire pits, way fun swings and games on site, it was excellent!

We loved camping on Joshua's property. We had both camp 2 and camp 3 for 8 nights. Was so perfect. Our dogs loved roaming freely and we had very friendly neighbors the whole time we were there. The swings were a big hit with my grandchildren. The shade was very helpful when it became very warm. Fishing was very fun for catch and release or to keep. My grandchildren were like water dogs the whole time. Thank you again Joshua!!

We stayed at camp #2 for 7 nights and enjoyed every moment of it. It is very spacious and private even with other campers at camp #1. The river access is easy to get to and we definitely enjoyed floating and fishing a lot during the heat wave we were having. The dogs enjoyed being able to run around off leashes also. Josh was very quick to get back to us for any questions we had and also had the toilet serviced for us when we needed it. Definitely would recommend this to all my friends and family. We will for sure be back to this property next year!

When we arrived the property had just previously been mowed. It was just as we hoped it would be and more. We had camp 3 and camp 2 for 8 nights. We had a combination of RV's and tents. The river access was just below and very accommodating for our floating devices and fishing when tide was in and out. Grandchildren loved swimming as the tide came in. We were there during a heat wave 100+ for a few days. Joshua was very quick to respond when we had questions. Also we met the nicest people in Scottsburg when we went to look for water for our RV. The lady that is opening the genral store ( antique store) stopped to ask her where we might find water for our water jugs for our RV as she was watering her flowers, said we could use her water. I donated to her store. So nice. We talked for ever. Then a neighbor came and started talking to us also maybe our age group ? Started talking restoring classic cars with my husband and growing up with Josh and going to school together. Were from small town Waldport all of our lives, so know that small town feel. It was so great. Thanks Joshua for sharing your property! We will be back!!

We spent four nights at Joshua’s property and loved it. We stayed in space #1 and the sites are so large, we could not hear the campers in any of the other spaces. Our dogs loved having all of the room to roam. The river and its access were amazing. We watched one of the fellow campers catch a huge bass. We took a short day trip to Loon Lake to hike and to Reedsport to get some smoked tuna. Highly recommend this hipcamp. We hope to be back this way in the future and we would absolutely stay here again.

#4 spot is the most private and has the most shade. It's further from the bathroom though and river access. We actually had the entire place to our selves most of the time. It was great!

Nice stay at River Front

We spent two nights at River Front retreat. The site was very spacious and private. Our dogs enjoyed running around. The surrounding landscape was beautiful. It's a nice location and easy 20 minute drive to get to the ocean towns in the area. There is a bit of road noise, but the location made up for that easily. Joshua was also very helpful in getting us a refund from Hipcamp due to a last minute cancelation we made due to a car issue. We will definitely stay there again when in the area and recommend it to our friends.
