GeerCrest Farm was settled by the Geer family in 1848, and is still owned and stewarded by the family. The house Ralph and Mary Geer built in 1851 stands and is one of the oldest in Oregon to remain in the same family.
The farm features creeks, forests, pastures, orchards and gardens as well as the historic buildings. Currently we have four friendly sheep and a small flock of Mallard ducks to keep us company. The Pioneer Memorial Orchard features over 50 vairieties of pre 1850 apple trees. The Heritage Grove has ten fruit and nut trees that were recognizeds as a memorial the the early pioneers of the nursery trade by Oregon Heritage Tree program. The 20 acre property, offers three tent camp sites Including the Tree House site, as well as two forest cabins and a small forest bunkhouse (sleeps 6).
Our peaceful, small farm offers a reflective immersion in nature and history among the occasional quacking of ducks and baaas of sheep. The scenery from all corners of the farm is incredible - a favorite is the westward view of the valley pasture at sunset -- called "Homer's View" after famous political cartoonist and Geer descendant, Homer Davenport. No matter which camping site you choose, the sounds of the creek, pond frogs, or conversing owls are sure to lull you to sleep.
Feel free to roam the farm, but always leave gates as you find them, open or closed. Please say hello to our sheep and barn cats (they may say hello first). Explore the Heritage Grove of historic trees, the Memorial apple orchard and pear glade with varieties circa 1840s, indulge your senses in our medicinal herb garden, and chat with our farm family while they water the veggie gardens, if you so wish! Your experience will certainly be unique to the season.
Your host Jim Toler represents the fifth generation of the farm and will happily share stories of the farm and it's history.
GeerCrest Farm is truly an off-the-beaten-path gem.

GeerCrest Farms offers a charming and peaceful retreat, with visitors frequently highlighting the friendly host, Jim, and the well-kept, serene environment. The farm's setting, with its ducks, sheep, and treehouse, provides a unique experience that is both relaxing and engaging for families and solo travelers alike. The cabins are described as cozy and clean, and the farm's proximity to Silver Falls State Park makes it an ideal base for exploring the area. While some guests found the location a bit tricky to find at night, they appreciated the clear instructions and the overall accommodating atmosphere once arrived.
Jim was kind and fantastic! The setting is amazing and so serene. We were blessed with an amazing sunset and loved watching the sheep. This location is a great jump off point for lots of adventures!
Kind of spooky to find at night. But once you notice where you are supposed to go it's easy. Cabins are lovely. Well taken care of. Would love to come back
GeerCrest Farms were a perfect family retreat with so many little aspects that recharged our batteries and we will want to return!
The sheep were sweet. We loved petting them. They liked the massage too.
The cabin was cozy. We woke up cheerful each morning because of the good sleep we got.
The mattresses & sheets were of excellent quality.
The treehouse was cool to explore. My children giggled while on the treeswing. A delight!
We enjoyed reading Narnia and roasting s'mores by the campfire.
The orchard was a great place for a hammock to read while kids played.
The ducks were so pleasant.
The barn cat was a darling.
The views of beucolic farmland transported us to imagine life 170 years ago.
It was my first time with a compost toilet and the fresh wood chips worked well.
We loved the crickets at night.
The hot water at the camper kitchen was a bonus.
We liked exploring the food forest.
We encourage folks to visit Silver Falls State Park, surely a gem of Oregon state.
This place is truly a hidden gem. Nestled amongst the trees, it provides a welcome sanctuary after a day of exploring Silverton. Jim takes pride in his historic property and it shows. We enjoyed walking around the property and visiting with the ducks and the sheep. The sunsets were an added bonus.
Jim was a great host , cabin clean and homie felt very welcomed and loved the relax feel to be able to wonder around the farm and read the history. Sounds travels but wasn’t an issue if I kept my speaker in the cabin lol. Thank you for letting us taste the apples and being so amazingly dog friendly .
This was a cute little cabin on a cute farm! I wandered around with my dog and saw herons and quail and deer and it was very relaxing. Easy to get to Silverton and Salem. We enjoyed our stay and Jim was great. Gave us our space and also was around to answer my random questions about his farm. Cool spot!
Second time staying on Jim's farm. Last year we stayed in the tree house. This year me and my girls and a friend and her girls each rented one of the cabins. We had a blast. It's such a magical little set-up. We had everything we needed to pull in, quickly unpack and get to enjoying our stay and exploring the farm. All four kids and both parents already want to go back.
This was absolutely fantastic. Jim greeted as when we arrived and welcomed us to explore the farm. He also offered for my daughter to feed the ducks the next morning (the entire reason we stayed was to see the ducks). Cabin was cozy, clean and perfect. Loved the towels provided for washing our hands.
Jim’s land was amazing. The property was magical with farm animals with such a peaceful setting. There are fruit orchards and a pond and a trail up to the three cabins in the woods. Petting the extremely friendly sheep was my kids favorite part tho! Jim went above and beyond and accommodated us in every way!!! We will definitely be going again :-)
Jim’s loft cabins were the best deal we he had among the 4 Hipcamp places we stayed at during our 9-day tour of Oregon. A great base for our visit to Silver Falls. Jim was very hospitable & provided firewood too. Loft had Silver Falls Park maps to help us plan our visit. Plus a very friendly cat, whose company we enjoyed.
Great time, interesting with the smoke and all from the fires, but a super great place to stay for the night and an unforgettable location for our road trip! Thank you!
The farm is beautiful and Jim is really welcoming and kind! There are ducks and a kitty and a dog around and the meadow is far enough from the buildings to feel semi private.
What a beautiful place to stay! We really enjoyed walking around the land, visiting the sheep and the orchard, and listening to the birds. We felt welcome and comfortable.
Camping at GeerCrrst was perfect for my time at Canterbury Renaissance Faire. The site was perfect for my van, beautiful peaceful spaces to wander, fun to meet the sheep & enough privacy to feel comfortable. Jim was available but not invasive. I didn't use any of the facilities, so I can not comment on those.
We were traveling from California to Washington with 2 small children who loved exploring the farm even more than we did. It's a beautiful historic farm with lots of nooks and crannies to explore and wonderful views. Jim was a kind and welcoming host. Our cabin was clean, peaceful, private and comfortable. We all got a kick out of using the composting toilet (surprisingly clean!) and the overall glamping vibe. We highly recommend this stop for anyone. Check out Silverton for charming cafes and groceries.
Top notch campsite! The tree house is unforgettable. The site and bathroom were clean. The site is in the sheep pasture, so they will visit in the evening, just make sure your food is put away.
Such a special place. Quiet, peaceful, spectacular valley views. The history, original trees, and original farm house made the setting so unique. I loved everything about the experience and would come again.
So great! Everything is as described and more. A beautiful property, very reasonable pricing, close to everything but secluded in a beautiful wood surrounded by wildlife.
