8 campsites and 2 original Mongolian Gers. The season for the camp sites is from June 1st to end of Sept and the Gers for 2025/2026 winter are blocked out from Nov 15/25 to May 15/26. Pets allowed, toilets on site, campfires permitted when burn ban is not in place. Now up until this year I have provided Free Firewood. I have quit doing that for a variety of reasons, the least being the cost and the work for me. I am encouraging everyone to purchase a Propane Fire Pit if you don't have one by now. I am not to the point yet of saying no big dogs. Talk to me if you think your "big dog" might not fit in. I don't like them running thru other campers sites, so just be respectful. Take them for walks along the lake.. No Yappers, no barking dogs, no pain in the butts. Why would you drive by 46 grocery stores and forget to bring ice? No loud music. I have changed quiet time to 9:00 PM. If you need to listen to the chaos/stressful music I suggest you start a band or become a DJ. What I want folks to get out of being here, whether they are camping or staying in the Gers is just to “take a break”. Relax, appreciate, assess and just listen. I hope what you hear is the sound of life and of course all the Angels that make up this special piece of Heaven. Then there is the silence. The best part of “Heaven”.

Looking forward to summer 202.  Still the same beautiful place. One thing that has not changed for sure: NO BARKING DOGS.  I don't care if you bring 100 dogs, one of them barking is not going to work and I have ZERO TOLERANCE for a barking dog.  You will be refunded and asked to leave, no discussion. I try to create a combination of tents, vans, CVT's, Tear Drops and small pop up campers, Class B's and for sure Camper Vans.. This is not an enviornment large Travel Trailers/Class A's.  Now if you book the entire site you can pretty much configure it anyway you want and there are several bookings which will make it the 5th Hipcamp summer, where there are lots of RV's lined up.  We like to message and discuss the circumstances surrounding your situation, how many adults, how many kids, how many dogs, where are you coming from, what time do you anticipate your arrival.  The booking tells me how long you are staying.  The more I know, then when I review the messages a couple of days before your arrival, the better I know where to place you.  It doesn't make any difference what site you book, they are all number "6". There are fire pits at each camping site.  Firewood is provided.  I am asking for donations on the firewood this summer, it just costs a lot of money. There is a donation box on a tree next to the firewood pile. Fires will be allowed only in the fire pits until a fire ban is placed on the area.  This season there will be a "Money Post" to help contribute to the cost of the campfire wood.  It has just got way to expensive and there is no way I can go out and cut it, even on the property. There are water craft available, canoe, paddle boards and kayaks.   I leave it up to all of you to work out the usage. We meet and greet, I place you in the best site for your circumstances.  If you need it, forgot it, ask, because I probably have it. The fishing can be excellent until it warms up. As ever year, there could end up being a fire ban on camp fires, I adhere to the Forest Service rules/fire ban if in fact it is implemented.  There was no fireban last year. Late arrivals, after 9:00 are hard on me.  I understand circumstances are dictated by work and a host of issues.  Just try to leave sooner than later to arrive sooner than later.   I am a big one for practicing the 5 P's, "Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance". Quiet time is at 9:00PM.  We gave had a few instances where folks stayed up until midnight talking and watching movies and it makes it hard on everyone else.  So please help out on this. All sites are right on the beach and individually placed with trees separating most sites.. It is quite, private and a no non sense environment. Limited alcohol consumption.  No smoking.  No loud music.  No bickering or arguing.  No screaming children, screaming and playing are entirely two different things.  Please don't drive in and out any more than necessary.  Please unload, set up and then take your vehicle up above and back it in/park it. For the vans, CVT;s, ect I realize it is not possible to take your rig up and park it. There are no warnings.  You comply, act like adults, use common sense or you will be asked to leave.   If you show up rowdy, under the influence you will be asked to leave immediately. Now, what is most important and paramount. in my life…”is me”. That is not me being conceited, or selfish, or missing the mark.  After all, what matters most is how we treat ourselves. What I want folks to get out of being here, whether they are camping or staying in the Gers is just to “take a break”.  Relax, appreciate, assess and just listen.  I hope what you hear is the sound of life and of course all the Angels that make up this special piece of Heaven.  The chipmunks, the squirrels, all the different birds, the eagles, the osprey, the fish jumping, the deer roaming, the timber martins running thru the trees, the snowshoe rabbits and the occasional black bear. What are you going to do with your life between today and then?

Looking forward to summer 2023.  I have made some changes.  I will list them: There are only 8 sites to book for camping.  With feed back and observation, now there will be a vacant camp site pretty much between each and every one of the 8 sites.  Now, communicate via messaging when there is the need to utilize an extra site for family/friends/etc.  We can make anything with in reason and common sense work.  By taking the 10 campsites down to 8 campsites, it worked verywell so that will remain the same for the forseeable future. 80% plus of the bookings for summer 2023 will be Hipcampers returning for the 2nd/3rd/4th time.  If you look at the calendar you will see July and August are booking up fast.  June not so much and of course I don't know why September is not used more, for the weather can be very nice that month.  There were very few cancellations this past season.  I don't think there was one instance where we kept somebodys booking fee.  If there was, let me know.  I refuse to keep somebody's money for any reason. There are fire pits at each camping site.  Firewood is provided.  Fires will be allowed only in the fire pits until a fire ban is placed on the area.  This season there will be a "Money Post" to help contribute to the cost of the campfire wood.  It has just got way to expensive and there is no way I can go out and cut it, even on the property. There are water craft available, canoe, paddle boards and kayaks.   I leave it up to all of you to work out the usage. Now, what is most important and paramount. in my life…”is me”. That is not me being conceited, or selfish, or missing the mark.  After all, what matters most is how we treat ourselves. What I want folks to get out of being here, whether they are camping or staying in the Gers is just to “take a break”.  Relax, appreciate, assess and just listen.  I hope what you hear is the sound of life and of course all the Angels that make up this special piece of Heaven.  The chipmunks, the squirrels, all the different birds, the eagles, the osprey, the fish jumping, the deer roaming, the timber martins running thru the trees, the snowshoe rabbits and the occasional black bear. Then there is the silence.  The best part of “Heaven”.    So, while you are here, take a deep breath, close your eyes at the appropriate moment and ask yourself, am I on the right path?  Is what I am doing fulfilling me?  Am I showing my family and friends how much I love them?   Do I really need all that crap I got?  Where do I go from here? My intention was for each one you to not just go camping, or to stay in a Mongolian Ger but to have an “Experience” that just might lead you to a more fulfilling and happier life. Looking forward to summer 2023.  I have made some changes.  I will list them: There are only 8 sites to book for camping.  With feed back and observation, now there will be a vacant camp site pretty much between each and every one of the 8 sites.  Now, communicate via messaging when there is the need to utilize an extra site for family/friends/etc.  We can make anything with in reason and common sense work.  By taking the 10 campsites down to 8 campsites, it worked verywell so that will remain the same for the forseeable future. 80% plus of the bookings for summer 2023 will be Hipcampers returning for the 2nd/3rd/4th time.  If you look at the calendar you will see July and August are booking up fast.  June not so much and of course I don't know why September is not used more, for the weather can be very nice that month.  There were very few cancellations this past season.  I don't think there was one instance where we kept somebodys booking fee.  If there was, let me know.  I refuse to keep somebody's money for any reason. One thing that has not changed: NO BARKING DOGS.  I don't care if you bring 100 dogs, one of them barking is not going to work and I have ZERO TOLERANCE for a barking dog.  You will be refunded and asked to leave, no discussion. There were very few cancellations this past season.  I appreciate that and thank everyone.  If you did cancel and you didn't get a refund either thru Hipcamp or from me, please let me know. Here are some ground rules and absolutes: No barking dogs.  You can bring 100 dogs and I don't care, BUT NO BARKING DOGS. No older dogs that are overly protective.  I have been bit twice and it was both times older/protective dogs. No over the rediculous alcohol consumtion. NO SMOKING AND THAT INCLUDES NO SMOKING DOPE IN THE GERS.  I absolutely do not allow smoking anywhere on the property in the summer and if you are still a smoker than you need to buy and read my book "101 Ways to Tell the World to Kiss Your Ass" specifically Chapter 33. These are 2 Original Mongolian Gers, direct from Mongolia. They are 1st class and pristine.  I have created an enviornment below glamping and at the same time maintaining comfortablness and magic.  The listing on the Gers was voted #3 in the nation for Glamping, even though I don't consider the experience in the Gers "glamping".  They can accommodate up to 4 adults, it is best 2 adults/w or without kids.    Fall of 2021 I built decks on the front of both of them and put in windows on each side of the doors.  New carpet in The Osprey, reconfigured the furniture/kitchen area in both of them which gives much more room.   Wood stoves in each and lots of fire wood cut to size.  On the cooler mornings/evenings the Buddy Propane Heater works great. Each Ger has a single/twin bed bunk bed style.   There is a sleeper sofa/full size that can accommodate a couple easily.   No one has complained about the mattresses on the sleeper sofa, they are/were both new. There are single air mattresses available.   Reading material and lots of games of all kinds.   I am a big advocate on less is better.  So don't bring everything you own.  If you want, I can provide very nice/warm/comfortable sleeping bags/pillows.  However, you willl need to bring a queen sheet or large sleeping bag insert.    This is semi-primitive.  No running/drinking water.  There is a 5 gallon bucket of water in each Ger out of the lake with a foot pump for washing up and for washing dishes.  The cooking area includes a 2 burner propane stove top/small microwave/small counter top oven/coffee pot/tea pot/all cooking utensils and pots and pans, crockpot, waffle iron, paper plates and paper bowls, paper cups and coffee cups.  There is a BBQ available on the deck of each Ger.  Bring plenty of bottled water.  I always have plenty of bottle drinking water.   There is power to each Ger, lots of lighting.  Lots of daylight coming thru the windows on each side of the door. There is Wifi available and a land line phone in the cabin.    There is an outhouse with a lighted walk way.  No heat in the outhouse, but during the daylight hours, "What a View".   There are also always 3 Porta Pottys down at the lake a very short stroll. No shower facilities. I am a advocate of the "5 P's.  "Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance."  So think about what you are doing and plan for it. When I decided to “share” this property that I happen to be fortunate enough to be one of the owners of, I had no idea the “Hipcamp” experience was going to transcend into what it has become.  8 campsites and 2 original Mongolian Gers.  The season for the camp sites is from June 1st to October 15 and the Gers are all 12 months.    My intention was to create an atmosphere of more than just “going camping”.  I did not want to create a “glamping” type situation, not my style. I wanted to have people realize, feel, appreciate and experience what I get out of being here.  To be able to live on this piece of “Heaven” has a whole host of special meanings to me.  When I lived up here in a 26 ft tipi for 2 ½ years, thru 2 winters I realized that there was more meaning to life than all the wanting, thinking that more money was the answer, the constant need for more stuff, more things.  I realize now that there is more to life than all of those “things”.   The book I wrote "101 Ways to Tell the World to Kiss Your Ass" is an result of that thinking and life style change. Now, what is most important and paramount. in my life…”is me”. That is not me being conceited, or selfish, or missing the mark.  After all, what matters most is how we treat ourselves. What I want folks to get out of being here, whether they are camping or staying in the Gers is just to “take a break”.  Relax, appreciate, assess and just listen.  I hope what you hear is the sound of life and of course all the Angels that make up this special piece of Heaven.  The chipmunks, the squirrels, all the different birds, the eagles, the osprey, the fish jumping, the deer roaming, the timber martins running thru the trees, the snowshoe rabbits and the occasional black bear. Then there is the silence.  The best part of “Heaven”.    So, while you are here, take a deep breath, close your eyes at the appropriate moment and ask yourself, am I on the right path?  Is what I am doing fulfilling me?  Am I showing my family and friends how much I love them?   Do I really need all that crap I got?  Where do I go from here? My intention was for each one you to not just go camping, or to stay in a Mongolian Ger, but to have an “Experience” that just might lead you to a more fulfilling and happier life. If you haven’t figured it out yet, and if you are not over 40, or there abouts, life goes by in the blink of an eye.  Before you know it, if you are lucky enough to live that long, you are going to be turning 76 years old. What are you going to do with your life between today and then?

There were very few cancellations this past season.  I appreciate that and thank everyone.  If you did cancel and you didn't get a refund either thru Hipcamp or from me, please let me know. Here are some ground rules and absolutes: No barking dogs.  You can bring 100 dogs and I don't care, BUT NO BARKING DOGS. No older dogs that are overly protective.  I have been bit twice and it was both times older/protective dogs. No over the rediculous alcohol consumtion. NO SMOKING AND THAT INCLUDES NO SMOKING DOPE IN THE GERS.  I absolutely do not allow smoking anywhere on the property in the summer and if you are still a smoker than you need to buy and read my book "101 Ways to Tell the World to Kiss Your Ass" specifically Chapter 33. These are 2 Original Mongolian Gers, direct from Mongolia. They are 1st class and pristine.  I have created an enviornment below glamping and at the same time maintaining comfortablness and magic.  The listing on the Gers was voted #3 in the nation for Glamping, even though I don't consider the experience in the Gers "glamping".  They can accommodate up to 4 adults, it is best 2 adults/w or without kids.    Fall of 2021 I built decks on the front of both of them and put in windows on each side of the doors.  New carpet in The Osprey, reconfigured the furniture/kitchen area in both of them which gives much more room.   Wood stoves in each and lots of fire wood cut to size.  On the cooler mornings/evenings the Buddy Propane Heater works great. Each Ger has a single/twin bed bunk bed style.   There is a sleeper sofa/full size that can accommodate a couple easily.   No one has complained about the mattresses on the sleeper sofa, they are/were both new. There are single air mattresses available.   Reading material and lots of games of all kinds.   I am a big advocate on less is better.  So don't bring everything you own.  If you want, I can provide very nice/warm/comfortable sleeping bags/pillows.  However, you willl need to bring a queen sheet or large sleeping bag insert.    This is semi-primitive.  No running/drinking water.  There is a 5 gallon bucket of water in each Ger out of the lake with a foot pump for washing up and for washing dishes.  The cooking area includes a 2 burner propane stove top/small microwave/small counter top oven/coffee pot/tea pot/all cooking utensils and pots and pans, crockpot, waffle iron, paper plates and paper bowls, paper cups and coffee cups.  There is a BBQ available on the deck of each Ger.  Bring plenty of bottled water.  I always have plenty of bottle drinking water.   There is power to each Ger, lots of lighting.  Lots of daylight coming thru the windows on each side of the door. There is Wifi available and a land line phone in the cabin.    There is an outhouse with a lighted walk way.  No heat in the outhouse, but during the daylight hours, "What a View".   There are also always 3 Porta Pottys down at the lake a very short stroll. No shower facilities. I am a advocate of the "5 P's.  "Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance."  So think about what you are doing and plan for it. I COVID spray after each cleaning thoroughly.   If you have any questions please message me. Also read the directions thoroughly, this is an easy place to get to. Beautiful, quiet, isolated, yet easy to find spot on East Lake. Close to Bend and LaPine. Lots of ducks and other birds, chipmunks, and we could hear other critters roaming around at night. David was a lovely host. Would definitely stay again.

We had so much fun sleeping in the yurt at East Lake. David was a welcoming host, and he was so unique and fun to talk with too. His property is so special. The boats and paddleboard were fun and it was fun letting my dog run. He loved it; definitely in his element as a lake dog. The yurt was well equipped with everything you could need to cook and it was clean and comfortable. Obsidion speckled the roads and was fun to collect. May daughter and I walked along the edge of the lake all the way to the resort, which was so peaceful and fun. The camping area seemed so fun too- lots of space. The energy was really special. We want to go back and stay longer! Hopefully next summer!

Everything about our stay at David's was incredible, starting with him. After pre-arrival instructions/how-to from him, he greeted us upon arrival to give us a lay of the Ger along with a lay of the land. He is a kind, straight-shooting man with an INCREDIBLE story (I'd encourage a chat with him). The Ger and the land were amazing. We had everything we needed for an elevated and unique camping experience within the Ger. Outside, David stewards a prime lakefront beach property, idyllic in so many ways, not the least of which is it's quite serenity. I'll definitely be coming back and encourage you to visit.

I had such a relaxing time at David’s little slice of heaven! Porter potties were clean, there was canoes, paddle boards, and little boats to borrow as well. David lent me a wine opener and checked in on me after the storm that rolled through. Highly recommend!

We had an absolute blast at David's incredible property. The lake is gorgeous, and the entire area in and around the Newberry Caldera is stunning. We're a mid-forties couple (no kids) and prefer a quiet tent camping experience - David hooked us up with a lovely, isolated campground at the far end of his sites, which was perfect for us. There were a number of spaces on the other end of the beach which were excellent for families, groups, larger vans, and pop-up campers. Something for everyone! The available watercraft loans were a fantastic perk. We were there for a week, and were able to get both ice and propane resupplies from David when we ran out, rather than driving into town (which isn't far - we just didn't want to leave!). The bathrooms were clean and incredibly well-maintained. 10 out of 10. We will most definitely be back!

What a unique and fun experience! I've enjoyed camping at David's property before, but this was our first time staying in the Ger. It has everything we needed for a quick overnighter. We made use of the BBQ on the deck as it was quite hot to cook inside. The access to the private Lakeshore and the water is lovely!

We had a great time in The Osprey yurt. It is well equipped and a cozy place to spend the night. The kitchen is well equipped and it has a fire pit on the deck that is great for smores. The host was very friendly and offered water and other supplies. My daughter said the portapotty was the nicest she had ever seen and it did indeed smell very clean. We enjoyed the boats that are free to use, walking the beach, and finding obsidian.

This place is absolutely amazing, directly on the lake in the Newberry Volcano caldera. Obsidian everywhere! The host tried to put us in a more private spot since I told him we were sensitive to noise. I misunderstood his directions but it was still great. Hope to come back again down the road.

This place is so awesome! You get to camp right on the lake and there are about 2 public campsites and a lake resort on the little lake but it remains super chill and calm on the lake. David was super nice and hospitable. He has a bunch of boats of different types for you to use for free which is super cool. There’s even a hot spring on the lake which for us was super HOT but fun!

We enjoyed a great stay at the Osprey! Beautiful, comfortable yurt, thoughtfully outfitted with everything you want: sitting chairs, couch, electric outlets, refrigerator, toaster oven, hot water kettle, camp stove, utensils, even a gas grill and WiFi! Leave your gear at home! Beautiful covered deck with picnic table to enjoy the birds and chipmunks. An assortment of water toys for guests including canoes, row boats, and paddle boards line the beach. Ultra clean porta potties for guests, as there is no running water. David is on site and extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Take time to chat with an incredible man to learn about his incredible experiences. He is the real deal!

This place truly is something special. The ger was plenty of space for our 4 person family, and it was very clean and fully stocked with everything we could’ve needed and more! You really do not need to bring much. We did bring queen sheets for the pull out, but there were plenty of blankets available to keep warm in the chilly evenings. It does get chilly in the ger at night, so plan accordingly. The buddy heater was super efficient at warming it early in the mornings. If you’re traveling with littles, you’ll need to keep a close eye on them (as you would), because the decks are built on the side of a hill with a steep drop off. We brought our 18 month old, and it was totally fine. Dave was an incredible host! He was very generous, fun to speak with, and was there to answer any questions we had. His pup Stormy was sweet with the kiddos. There was lots of wild life, chipmunks, rabbits, deer, eagles, and more. While there we enjoyed kayaking, nearby hot springs, hiking, fishing, and swimming. If you’re looking for a magical and serene adventure on a beautiful lake, with an awesome host, but one that doesn’t require you to pack for tent camping, this is the spot for you! We are already planning for our return next year.

Absolutely beautiful! All the tent sites were right on the lake with pretty limited access. There were a few kayaks and boats available. Outhouses were clean. David was attentive and made sure we felt at home! Will definitely stay there again.
