One of the earliest homesteads in this area. The Barlow Road section of the Oregon Trail went through the campsite area. The campsite area was an early Native American fishing ground. On the Clackamas River where the early settlers crossed the river via rope ferry. Open field campsites that are all with easy access to the river.

Star-gazing on the Clackamas
Karen and Michael have a lovely property. We were made to feel welcome and the directions are spot-on! The sites were large with plenty of social distancing. My friend felt safer in camp than in town! Sink and outhouse area was very clean, well-lit, and well-maintained. Great star-gazing and moon rise! Super easy access to the beautiful Clackamas River. We were there the day before the Riverside wildfire broke out, so hope that Karen and Michael are safe!! Would gladly stay there again, and would even consider winter camping, if they offered it. The field is cut hay, so consider this if you have allergies. The grounds are lovely and I can see how this would be a great event venue! Thanks for everything, Karen & Michael!

Relaxing river-side field camping
My partner and I and our four kids enjoyed a 3-day/2-night relaxing stay here. I recommend site #2, which is the only site with small trees in the camping area itself. We hung a hammock from them, and the trees also provided us with shade during the morning and early afternoon. The camping area was quiet even with all sites occupied, and the sites were spacious enough that we felt well-enough distanced from other groups. We felt comfortable with the coronavirus-safety instructions at the portable toilet and hand-washing/water-filling station. Some highlights: Frogs and crawdads in the river, people fishing in the early morning and evening, groups of floaters and kayakers drifting by during the day. We brought tubes and drove to Milo McIver State Park and put in at the lower boat launch, then floated back to our camp—a roughly 45-minute float trip without stops, with long calm stretches and a few exciting rapids as we exited McIver. On our first night we spotted a deer crossing the field. Both nights we heard coyotes in the distance. At night the field was a great place for star-gazing before the moon came up. We saw Jupiter, Saturn, Mars, several shooting stars, and many satellites. This area of Oregon has too much urban skyglow to see the band of the Milky Way clearly, but we could faintly make out parts of it. The mellow and friendly cat who lives here visited us a few times, which delighted my daughter. Based on the map shown on Hipcamp we thought that site #2 would be in the woods, but it turns out that all of the sites are along the woodline in a large field. That worked out fine for us: the kids played in the field, and the treeline began casting shade on the camp in the afternoon. We would definitely return!

Clackamas River Farm
We stayed in site #2. Access to the river is fantastic. The sites are lovely and up against the trees on the west side of the field. So the morning is sunny, and the afternoon is shady. There is plenty of space between each site. I would recommend staying here.

Beautiful Quiet Farm Atmosphere
This was our first outing with our 1958 Aloha Camper Trailer. We arrived in the afternoon to a beautiful farm atmosphere. Our camp site was on the periphery of a field backing to the Clackamas River where there was access to the river. There are eight sites, all well spaced out so that although you can see everyone, there was still a feeling of privacy. There is a very clean outhouse not terribly far from the campsites with a wash station and everyone was mindful of the social distancing expectations. Activities that we enjoyed while there were blackberry picking, kayaking and swimming in the river, bird watching, and star gazing--they were brilliant. Some kids from other camps were playing Marco Polo in the field. The hosts were friendly and helpful as were everyone there. Just a really nice first experience with great Oregon back country atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Unconventional and lovely
This unconventional space is great! It's not camping in the woods but it's quick access to the river and a very clean bathroom area with sink. So close to Barton Park for floating. Lovely hosts. I would recommend!
