Campground is located on a plateau along county highway CR-100 between Peebles and Seaman. A natural artesian spring located just below the campsites. Several hiking trails wind DOWN wooded hillside of 69 acre property to meadow and small creek that snakes its way through southern boundary.
Relax at the campfire after strolling my private hiking trails. Visit nearby Serpent Mound home of the world's largest surviving Native American effigy mound. Visit Millers Bakery and Furniture at nearby Wheat Ridge Amish community. Walk across county road CR-100 to hunt or explore the public 4,254 acres on Tranquility Wildlife Area.

Nestled in a prime location, this campsite offers easy access to small towns and attractions like the Serpent Mound. Campers frequently highlight the peaceful atmosphere, abundant wildlife, and ample amenities such as firewood, electricity, and water. The host, Philip, is praised for his hospitality and willingness to assist, enhancing the overall experience. Despite being close to a road, the site remains quiet and feels secluded, making it a tranquil retreat for nature lovers.
This place is in a great location. Close to several small towns for food and stores. Easy check in and arrival. The camp host went above and beyond to accommodate our stay. We will be back.
Philip’s land is awesome! It is very peaceful there Phil went out of his way to help us put up our compost tent and loaned us his stakes. He has a beautiful land and if you want peace and beauty this is the place. Our dog loved exploring.
I will stay here again. The power and water were in very good condition as was the gravel pad and lane. It was quiet and peaceful. 5 miles from town in either direction. Site 2 is the only site available, site 1 is for the owners permanent camper.
Nice setting. Not too far off the road which was quiet. Liked having water and electric and fire pit with wood provided. Not far from the Serpent Mound state property.
Philip did what most people wouldnt do for anyone camping at their site. I got my dual sport bike stuck on the southern ohio adventure loop that was blocked by a fallen tree and couldn't go back up the other direction. He lent me his chainsaw and I was able to go back to get my bike thanks to him. He does well providing for people camping here and it was nice chatting with him. Thanks for the help and a good camping spot philip 👍
We had a great time at the Hipcamp. We visited to go to Serpent Mound. It was quiet, there was plenty of dry firewood perfect for making fires. The water and electric hookups were for sure a plus. Our children enjoyed chasing all the fireflies when it started to get dark. We had lots of rain but the site did not flood and we stayed dry. We for sure would recommend anyone to stay with Phillips’s Hipcamp.
The site is clean and well kept. Host is friendly. Loved the quiet and the trails on the property. It is 200ft from a county road but it’s not noisy. (I have an anxious dog and she didn’t even bark!) also appreciated the access to water, fire pits, and firewood too. And the site is partially shaded which offers the best of sun and shade. The drainage is great and my tent stayed dry during a flood warning too. Will definitely be coming back!
I had a very nice stay at tranquility spring. I loved the mountain spring and there is plenty of space to explore including a nice meadow with abundant wildlife.
Nice rock pad for tent setup. Whole rained the whole time I was there the drainage was great so nothing was wet in the tent. It would have been nice if there was a picnic table but was terrific besides that.
Another great stay. Perfect location to hunt the public land of tranquility wildlife area right across the street. Provided firewood is great. Third annual trip for is and it will continue.
Great site for both tent and rv camping. We tent camped this time around. Plenty of dry firewood provided on site. The electric hookup had a 30amp to 15amp adapter for electrical needs and running water that tasted quite good too. Tranquility wildlife reserve is directly across the street - easy access. While the site is on a main road, the nights were quiet and traffic minimal. Mint mobile Cell service and still had signal.
Great site with lots of privacy. We enjoyed walking around all the trails on the property. Great setup with level, gravel pad to park on. We did not have to do any leveling. Lots of firewood to use. We enjoyed the little perks of the basketball hoop and axe throwing. We were fortunate enough to be there on a clear night that allowed for perfect stargazing. The surrounding countryside was beautiful adding to the experience. We definitely want to return.
Great spot! Many trails in the area. Fairly secluded. I think there is one other spot but we never saw or heard anyone. Right off the road but there is very little traffic if any. Seasoned firewood included. Looking forward to a return trip.
What a fantastic property- abundant wildflowers, pollinators and bird population, very well maintained, so peaceful and exactly as pictured and described. Hope to return!
The entire site had no facility for handling black or gray water disposal. No ports Johns and only one site had power and water. Very primitive property.
Great private site right next to a field - the stars were amazing at night! While it's somewhat close to a road, there was very little traffic during the day and none at night. Host supplied electric, water, and firewood - couldn't ask for much else!
Tranquility Spring was one beautiful piece of property. My family and I camped there over a weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. We walked the trails and saw wildlife. Even had a once in a lifetime encounter with a baby deer. The place was super clean and the fire wood was excellently seasoned, with grill grates for the firerings, we cooked outside all weekend and it was awesome. With all the good I’ve mentioned, the only really complaint I can say is bring bug spray!
Lovely spot that’s tucked away. Extra bonus is the hookups! Backcountry privacy with campground amenities. We would love to come back and stay in the fall when the leaves change.
I echo what others are saying! This is a beautiful and peaceful spot with lots of well-maintained trails to explore! We checked out some trails at The Arc of Appalachia Chalet Nivale and it was beautiful! The ticks are bad in the meadows though so be sure to bring good bug repellent! We drove 35 min to Hillsboro and ate at The Porch which I highly recommend! You can’t beat the price for firewood, water, and electric! Will stay here again!
The campsite was absolutely perfect for our needs at the time and Philip was a joy to work with! It's easy to see why he is a star host! Very accommodating! Looking forward to spending some more time here. Thanks again, Philip!!!
Great tent camping spot and fun extra activities like throwing axes and basketball hoop for some things to do around camp! Complimentary firewood was awesome too for roasting some sausages!
