Hello, this is 22 acres of no frills undeveloped land with beautiful Arcola Creek that runs into Lake Erie. There's room for an RV or can pitch a tent. Enjoy Arcola Creek Estuary a mile away, bird watching, multiple wineries, covered bridges, Geneva on the Lake or enjoy all day by the creek. There is a perfect spot with a fire pit. (Firewood provided-please leave some for the next camper if early in the week.) There are rough trails in the back where the land was logged. There is not a bridge currently but can be accessed easily when the water level is low. Please limit guests to 6 or less people. Land is not perfectly level. Although neighbors are some distance away I asked that noise levels are low after 10. Facts & History:: Arcola creek runs into an estuary. Its one of the last remaining natural estuaries in Ohio. Steelhead trout spawn and migratory birds find shelter here. The creek was used by Native Americans and the area was instrumental for its role in the Underground Railroad for escaped slaves that boarded ships (at the end of the Dock Rd) on their way to Canada. The town of Ellensburg was built at the junction of Arcola Creek and Lake Erie. It was a thriving community of ship builders, fishermen and commerce. Arcole Iron Works was located south of the mouth of the creek (then called Cunningham Creek after Captain John Cunningham who purchased property there in the early 1800s). Arcole Iron Works was, at one time, the largest industry in Ohio. Bog iron, discovered in Madison Township near North Ridge Road in 1812, and the abundance of timber provided the raw materials for iron furnaces. Iron stoves, kettles, hollowware and other heavy castings were made at the foundry. Everyone is welcome here, let me know ahead of time if there's anything to make your stay more comfortable. I had a nice hot tent solo camp by the creek. There was wood supplied by Craig in my short notice of booking the site. The site is tucked away on the bank of the creek with plenty of flat areas to pitch a tent and great views and sounds of the creek. I post my stays at Get Livin Outdoors on YouTube. Yes you park close to your truck or car. The site was private and peaceful. I definitely would return again.

We only stayed 1 night but was very peaceful next to the creek and the perfect spot to watch the sunrise. He has a really nice setup with picnic table, chairs around the fire pit, water and even some solar lights, which was a nice surprise.

Craig's Hipcamp property was amazing! Had such a great relaxing 2-night stay. Beautiful Fall weather and nice scenic creek and wooded views, lots of wood available too. Craig was a great host, very communicative and accommodating. No issues with road noise, occasional traffic during the day mainly while we were there but nothing that took away from the experience at all. The road was a bit of a distance away and over a small incline, not in direct view of camp area by the creek. You don't feel like you are close to the other houses here on this large acreage, it felt extremely private and secluded. Would definitely recommend this property, I plan on coming back!

Beautiful spot!! Absolutely had an amazing couple of nights staying here. Craig was great! Had several amazing local recommendations & was very responsive when messaged. Definitely recommend & will be back for sure.

Nice primitive spot along Arcola Creek. For those who don’t know the area, this is a two minute drive to the lake and Arcola Creek Park, which is definitely worth checking out, along with the numerous other parks and beaches that dot the Lake Erie coastline in either direction. Route 20 with all the amenities one would need is less than 10 minutes away, including a super Walmart.

Very pretty quiet spot next to the creek. Two minute drive to the beach and a five minute drive to civilization, grocery stores etc…. Sites only a work in progress so it’ll only get better over time!

Peaceful private campsite right steps away from the creek! There’s hiking trails on the property to walk and there’s plenty of flap space to set up a few chairs right next to the creek. Definitely recommend!

Great location to the beach & strip

Craig was extremely responsive. I had a problem with the google directions he initially had plugged in so texted him. Within 1 minute he replied back with an address. He was very welcoming to his property and said there was a camper there, but I'd have the place to myself. The Geneva Breakwater Beach is only a FIVE minute drive away and the strip is another 5 minutes! It's a neat piece of land on a creek, to enjoy. It is right on a kind of busy road but traffic seemed to slow a bit after 6 PM. The only thing it could use is a port-a-potty but for the price, you can't complain.

Craig was responsive and helpful. He is still working on making the spot what he wants it to be, but it's a simple and lovely stop in its current state. The camping spot is right along a creek, with chairs, table, fire pit and wood provided. It is close to the road, but you're low enough to not see cars. I would stay again, especially if I was spending the day at the beach or Geneva on the Lake. It is conveniently so close, without the busyness and noise.
