Mellow Moose was a good spot - very private, had great amenities... not bad for a multiple night stay. The host Matt was super nice, very responsive, and accommodating. My only issue, is that it is close to a main road and train tracks - my pups were not used to trains.

This is my second stay at this campground. I love it for many reasons. The biggest reason is that my kids and dogs are safe. They have cameras around the property. However it’s also very rustic and private in some of the spots and then others are more community based. I like the secluded ones. Matt is an amazing host and his land is clean and natural. The showers and other facilities are super clean. He promotes community as well with a nice area up front if people wish to gather. He is also very understanding about kids turning in to feral animals when they go camping and is patient. I have two boys and man they are wild when turned loose in the woods. It’s close enough that family can easily come out to see us and far enough away I don’t have to deal with people. I specifically picked my spot but there is a train that is right by the spot. I already knew that when I booked it and the train never bothers me. Matt offered me a free upgrade to move me away from the train and I did decline because I wanted the space. I’ll be back again soon!!!!

This is a very new campground. The owners are building as they go. The amenities advertise well. Unfortunately, the fact that they are in the process is evident. The plusses: 1) water and electricity at most sites; 2) short distance to toilet/showers; 3) access to trails.
The minuses: 1) adjacent to active railroad; 2) the sites are very close and not well graded; 3) large logs and other recent cutting is laying all over.

lovely grounds, the space to camp on was better than a lot I have camped on recently that cost a lot more. Value for money, nice place. Cant comment on the showers as I didnt use them, only for one night, but its a place i would recommend.

The place was good, the gentleman communicated with me about an incoming storm that helped me quite a bit. T
My only qualm with this site was the train… holy smokes that train is so close and goes by what felt like every 1.5 hours. Overall it’s okay but bring noise cancelling headphones for sure.

We went there again this year!! Just a little disappointed that we did not meet the host this year —we booked on Line, but seeing that we were there last year we knew what to expect if people are coming in for the first time you have to walk into the dark area to read the guy’s phone number. If you do not book on line it’s very hard to know what to do, as a result the first night we were there two campers came in, off the highway but all was dark. They did not know where to go or do so. They just turned around and left. As the office door is on the wrong side to be visible On contact Wearing I just too bad there should be some yard lights in the camping loops even if they are solar yard lights and maybe bigger visible office contact numbers right when you come in the driveway. Will go there again!!

Really great spot. Quiet and private. The host was absolutely amazing. Great fire rings. Nice and level and also a lot of trees. Love the trees. If each spot could be surrounded by trees is probably the only thing that could make it better at all. Otherwise it’s completely perfect.

28 was not level so we changed to 52 which was more level. This camp is under construction and while nice, it’s a bit of a mess! Very nice hosts who were helpful and accommodating!! Train noise was not a bother to us but it was a presence!

This location is right off of the highway which was very convenient as we were pulling in late. We headed out early so we didn’t have much time to use the amenities but everything looked well tended and was perfect for what we were looking for!

The campground is very close to the train tracks and was extremely loud. I should have checked more thoroughly but we were only staying for a night so it didn’t seem to be a problem. However it was very difficult to sleep, even with earplugs in. Just be warned.

We stayed one night when passing thru the area. Nice Campground, great restrooms/showers. Not a resort so don't look for playground, pool, or a huge list of amenities but did what we needed. About the train, very close to cg, did not run often when we were there, but when it did you knew it as there is a crossing nearby and the engineers love their horn. That being said once the horn was done it was no big deal. We would stay again if in the area.

We loved the shady sites, and that trailers are not allowed in the tent camping area. Bathrooms with flushing toilets and hot showers were an unexpected bonus — and they were immaculately clean. Our tent site even had an electrical outlet that enabled us to charge our phones. And I really appreciate that Matt and his friendly wife are being careful to protect native wildflowers as they work to clear these woods of invasive vines and shrubs. They’re off to a great start. The only negatives, and they’re pretty impactful, is that trains pass very close to the camp, and there were a lot of ticks. Be sure to spray!

Finally... a campground for people who love freight trains! The tracks are so close that it feels as if the trains are coming right through your tent. And just to make sure you don't accidentally sleep through it, they make sure to blow their whistles as they rumble past. I counted five of them over the course of the night. My dog loved it.
Also, if you just can't get enough of ticks, you'll love this place. I think it's on the national registry of tick preserves. Yeah, I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere...

Found a spot where we could be perfectly level. With the early season booking the place was quiet except for the trains. Far enough from highway so you can't hear vehicles.

The site is new and in a great location. The facilities are great. The floors in the bathrooms could do with another coat of paint. There is a train adjacent to the site, but they are not very frequent. The host was great letting us pick any site we wanted.

The site was brand new we were prob the first to ever camp in # 11. The staff there were incredibly nice and sincere. But a few things I feel they could work on in the future is.
#1 there is a train that comes through the campground 24 /7 seems like at least every 2 hours. #2 the sites are close together not alot of wiggle room and not very level ground we have a big tent for our family we had trouble placing it in a way to accommodate us and park our suv.
On the plus side it's relatively cheap and close to fair grounds. There showers and bathrooms were under construction they had two functional showers operating, they were clean and did the job.

Great place to camp and relax. The hosts showed me so much kindness from the moment I drove up to the campground. They also check in with you and really care about your stay. Lots of great walking trails nearby and devils lake. Definitely recommendable and looking forward to my next visit.
