We absolutely loved our time at Starlight Hills Campground. We stopped for a night to take a break from the road and our only regret is not planning to stay longer. Starlight Campground has stunningly beautiful views, immaculate campsites, and offers a wide array of camping options. From cabins, to yurts, to tent sites, Starlight has it all. Our camper site was perfectly level making setting up our popup camper a breeze! We enjoyed a fabulous sunset from the hammocks at the food court and settled in back at camp around a fire in the provided pit. We could not have asked for better!

First let me say that William was a very accommodating and gracious host. Upon our first meeting we knew right away that we would have a nice time. William is also doing some projects that are really going to set his site way above par. He already has nice showers and a spa and is now building a new facility for 2 bathrooms and 2 showers. If you like tent camping, there are plenty of sites for that. If RVing is your thing, he has sites for that. Or maybe you like glamping in a dome...well people William has you covered. He has many glamping sites and is opening up more. Great views from the overlook! Overlook includes a children's playground area, grills, hammocks, picnic tables and yes, the wonderful view. William even has vending machines if you need water, soda, Gatorade, or if you need a midnight snack, there is a vending machine with chips, granola bars, and yes even charging cables and battery packs just in case you forgot yours and left it at home. There is also a charging station for you to use with a USB on one end. He even has a wood vending area..yep firewood. He has thought of all the things you haven't. We spent 3 days and nights with our 5 furbabies (Huskies) and William made sure he came to say hello to them. With all that said, William is a great host! When construction men came to work on the new well for the new facility, William came and personally offered us an apology and a day refund. Great place and better host! Definitely going back!

It was a great site and was well equipped for a sunset glamping experience. We ended up with lots of rain unfortunately and no sunset but the tent was totally waterproof and we stayed dry while sleeping! There was also a mini fan that helped with the humidity. We loved the fairy lights around the site and it was right next to the overlook with usable grills!

We had a great time staying in the Luna Dome at Starlight Hills. The spa was also wonderful. William was responsive and so nice. Would definitely stay again!

What a great camp site! Even in the rainy weather we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the LunaView Dome! The site has fabulous amenities and we loved being able to have our own little fire pit nearby. Hope to return someday!

This place is like it was created from my dreams. Somehow I was the only camper. But I had so much fun. The views are incredible, the outdoor shower is delightful. When it gets dark it gets DARK. The hike to the overlook is well worth it. This place gave me a much needed dose of nature. THANK YOU A+++++

Loved staying in the Luna View Dome with my husband and Bernese Mtn Dog, Luna. It was quiet, secluded, easy to find, spacious, and well set up. The bed was comfortable and we definitely appreciated all of the fans to cool the space down by the time we got to bed. Was so nice talking to William when he stopped by and our dog loved him. Would definitely stay there again.

The tent was nice, I just didn’t like that the grill was in the common area where we had to walk to. I’m grateful that I brought my wagon to take the food to the grill. And I’m disappointed that I was told after we got there that the outside lights were not working. And even more disappointed that the host thought extra wood was an even compensation.

I had a great experience tent camping here, the tent sites were large and William was very responsive to any questions and provided clear directions. The porta potty's were very clean and there were a lot of nice amenities in the grounds!

Me and my family absolutely loved it. The only advice I would push out to everyone is don’t go when It’s too hot or too cold because there’s only fans and the heat only heats up so much of the room they’re also no outlets, but they were very accommodating and anytime I had questions the host responded right away., Would absolutely recommend it!

The views were lovely and the stay was great. We had the place to ourselves. We watched an incredible sunset from the overlook. They're doing work on the grounds, but there is a lot of fun stuff going on. I imagine it's especially beautiful when the trees are fuller in the warmer months. Overall, I would absolutely recommend Starlight Hills to groups and families looking for a little more than just a campground.
An important thing to note: the pictures of the sites are misleading. The sunset shots with people at benches and near a grill are from the common area. Aside from some of the glamping sites, most of the sites are surrounded by trees and are NOT open to a view. 6, 8, and 9 come the closest. I booked site 3 after looking through all the site photos. It was hard to tell what it would look like or if it had a view. We were disappointed to find that site 3 was not at all what we had imagined. However, there were almost no other guests, and William was very nice about letting us select another site that was closer to what we wanted.

I’m 16, and my friend and I stayed for a night at Site 4, really great original camping experience. I would recommend this to everyone I know. If you decide to stay (which you should), I would also recommend buying the hour at the spa area, really beautiful sunset, and just the whole experience was refreshing.

Not ideal for rooftop tents

Site 2 - Starlight Hills Campground
The tent camp site was nicely set up for ground tents. I happen to have a rooftop tent so it wasn’t ideal for my situation. I wasn’t able get my vehicle closer than 30 feet from the picnic table, fire pit, and tent pad.
There were Porta-John toilets and a shed with a shower available at the tent camping area of the campground so it was better than primitive camping, but there was no enclosed bath/shower house.
It appeared as if there may be a bathhouse under construction, but in my opinion (and for my set up) it wasn’t worth $45 per night. That said, it wasn’t horrible.

The hype is real! We had an amazing experience at Starlight Hills, from our hike up to the overlook to the dark skies that were perfect for star gazing, Starlight Hills exceeded all my expectations. You know its good when your 11 year old says, "we should come here more often."

Beautiful location for camping! Our day was unfortunately hot, and the yurt was a furnace when I first arrived. That is about the only downside. Otherwise a great, unique experience with stunning star gazing! William was also very easy to communicate with and prompt in responding to my questions. Would love to come back during the cooler months 😅

We found this spot as a Plan B when our original camping spot in the area fell through. Site 9 is very close to another campsite, and when we arrived we realized we’d be very close to a family with kids and music- an immediate no for us. Fortunately William was quick to reply with alternate options and we found an acceptable site that was much more secluded and quiet.
Things that were not quite clear in the description- there is a main viewpoint to see the views but most campsites will not have a view. The whole campground is new and a work in progress, so expect freshly dozed ground- basically, it feels like camping at a construction site. I’m sure it will get better with time, but it needs time.
We also realized that this location sits right under a main route for CLT- so expect fairly constant jets overhead, along with some slight road noise as well. If you’re looking to feel secluded in nature, this may not be it.
Overall a decent substitute for us in a pinch, but if this had been our main destination I would have been disappointed.

The site was wonderful. They were doing a lot of building for the busy season, but even then we were never bothered. The view from the communal area was wonderful and the short observation trail was a nice way to spend the morning. Can't wait to come back!
