One of the best in the Blue Ridge
I’ve been up and down the Blue Ridge Mountains camping in 100s of sites from National Parks to Hipcamps and everything in between. This is going to be near the top of the list and I can’t recommend this place enough. The campsites themselves were beautiful, nestled on a ridge where you could see mountains through the trees, & very well spaced out with tons of places to put tents/hammocks. We loved having the big fire ring with a grate for cooking and the picnic tables were a great addition. It’s a lot like the campgrounds in some of the local national forests, except you have a shower and bathroom access when you need it! Not to mention the meditation gardens, well water (which was extremely good & clean water), and general beauty of this whole place which the owner has essentially built by hand. David was a pleasure to converse with, and he shared some really cool history about the area. He is someone that quickly got my trust/respect and I felt I could sit down and talk with him for days. The campsites are numbered in a way that the higher the number the further up the hill your campsite is, but it’s still no more than a 50 yard walk down to the lodge. We found plenty of dead wood laying around camp for fires, but my hand saw made everything easier. As others have said, Sunny(the dog) is a kleptomaniac an may sneak into your camp in the morning but as dog owners it did not bother us at all. Thankfully he gets bored quickly. Hike to Max Patch from camp! I’ll be coming back!
