As far as glamping goes, this is as nice as it gets. It felt more like an Airbnb, with the whole container being painted, decorated, and inclusive of bedding and towels. I had always wondered what it was like to stay in a converted shipping container and it felt very normal, and maybe a step up from a cabin. It's a good spot for a sleep and shower for a day or two, especially if you're looking to visit things in the local area. You'll hear the road a bit and dogs when people bring them, but it really is a good value. The bathroom has the light and fan on the same switch and the fan gets pretty loud. The water pressure is high, and you'll want to bring toiletries, but you get a hand towel, wash clothes and towels. Like others mentioned, the bed is really comfortable.

This place is really unique and cute, five stars for creativity.
The good: it’s cool. The bed is super comfy. Hot water and a flush toilet is always a plus.
The meh: it’s a little leaky. The paper coffee cup had been used. Some ants. All things for me are understandable.
All in all ide love to stay again and would recommend this place. Great vibe. Without rain it would have been amazing.

Loved the ambiance of the submarine. Super quite.. Just 30 mins from Durham and Chapel Hill. Enjoyed quaint little town of Saxapahaw.

Great location near Saxapahaw and convenient to restaurants, shopping. Container is small — great for 2 people but wouldn’t recommend more. Good communication with owner and helpful caretaker. A great option for the price.

We loved our one night stay at the yellow sub! The space was very unique and comfortable. We enjoyed the outdoor kitchen and surrounding space as well! We will definitely visit again when we have more time!!

I truly enjoyed staying here. I love the creative direction in decorating each container. It was so comfy and relaxing. Just what was needed. Also enjoyed the party thrown at the ballroom. The local community was the highlight of the trip.

Yellow Submarine
The Yellow Submarine as great. I had a very relaxing time and the property was beautiful. The unit had everything needed for the weekend and never had to leave. Thank you Kathy. Missy and Allan were great as well.

Everything you could possibly need for an enjoyable time!! Efficient use of space to provide all utensils necessary for food prep and a prefect evening. Or great dining just 1 mile away. A relaxing spacious outdoors patio for enjoyment.

We enjoyed beautiful sunsets at this fun Beatle’s- themed tiny house community. Kathy had everything we needed there, and those staying in other units were friendly. It was perfect for our Spring Break college tour trip, being close to Elon, Chapel Hill, and Duke.

I hosted some friends for my birthday at The Container Experience. We’d rented two of the three containers for 6 guys. It was a great trip, and we mostly used the containers for cooking and sleeping, spending most of the time outside in the common area and by the firepit. Practically, we fit 2 guys in each container (1 on the bed and 1 on the couch) and the other two camped on the lawn. Luckily we had perfect weather the whole weekend, as it would have been hard to enjoy good company if we’d all had to fit into the container! The kitchenette was sufficient for heating food up, and I’d also brought a cast iron and camp stove for more cook-ability outdoors. The best part was the availability of a hot shower right inside, and the large concrete pad for hanging around outside. We were surprised that there are other rentable units on the same property, so it felt more like a campground with lots of different groups in proximity. But everyone was kind and respectful, and the weekend was well worth it. I plan to go back sometime soon with my family!

Kathy’s land and container lodging was perfect for us. Very comfortable bed, quiet area and fun Beetles decor. Having a hipcamp with a shower and a toilet was so nice for this particular trip. We were visiting our daughter at Elon University which was short 30 min drive and a fun downtown music and vendors on Fri. Unexpected perks was the quaint town of Saxapahaw who also had live band and vendors sat night. We met a few cool locals and had a great meal and service at The Eddy ( only about 5 min away). Had a relaxing and fun time at Pennylane. Check in and out was easy and Kathy was a very responsive host. Place was clean and equipped with small fridge, freezer and coffee maker! We did not cook a full meal but you could since it is equipped with electric stove top.

What a fun overnight! Eclectic, comfortable space with outside chairs and a tiki bar overlooking the gorgeous golf course and beach with a view of a submarine!
Okay, it's really a six foot putting green and a sand pit but there definitely is a submarine looking thing on the lawn. :)
That encapsulates these Beatles themed containers within a quick drive or bike ride of the funky, granola town of Saxapahaw. Terrific for visiting one of the several low key restaurants, brewery and the renowned Haw River Ball Room.
Thanks Kathy for a fun overnight less than an hour from our house!

Such a gem! I stayed in the Yellow Submarine for 2 nights while traveling from NY to New Orleans. This was perfect- far enough from the city to have quiet and Star-filled nights on the gorgeous patio. The tiny house had everything I needed- hot shower, kitchenette, TV, wifi, and a comfy bed. I enjoyed a sunny day on the deck, reading with my dogs. All of the memorabilia inside made the place feel so special. I look forward to staying here again!

Yellow Submarine
What a great stay for a show at the Haw River Ballroom down the road just a few minutes. Will definitely stay here again for our next show, which is just far enough away to justify the overnight. Our pup was comfortable, ane everyone we bumped into was super friendly. The place had everything we needed. 10/10 all around!

The Yellow Submarine was cute and quirky. You'll love it if you're a Beatles fan! Awesome job of converting a shipping container into a tiny home. Very comfortable with heat (we visited in winter) and a fully functional restroom/shower. This is a good place if you're not really looking for a romantic/secluded getaway. The unit is attached to two others and the courtyard/firepit is communal. So you don't get a ton of privacy with outdoor activities. Very family friendly!

We had a great time at the Yellow Submarine! What a unique place! I wish we could've experienced this in summer to better take advantage of the firepit and outside amenities. The only thing I would recommend for future visitors is to be prepared to eat out as there are really limited cooking options. It was too windy to safely make a fire to grill out and in the container, we only had the option of a microwave and a small toaster oven. Really cute place though!

We enjoyed a fantastic weekend in town to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The Yellow Submarine was fun and quirky. We were able to bring our two small dogs. Kathy even went above and beyond and gifted us a gift card to The Eddy restaurant. Highly recommend this fun place! Thank you Kathy

The Yellow Submarine was very clean and cozy. I just loved it. Comfortable bed, comfortable temp and had everything I needed for my stay. Kathy is very accommodating and was very easy to contact and always responded. Very detailed instructions for anything you needed to know about property so there really wasn’t a need to ask questions.

The shipping containers are truly a unique experience. We were able to check-in no problem and Kathy was responsive and kind. We were able to utilize the fire pit and the amenities inside the container.
Saxapahaw is a charming village! We enjoyed the general store, farmhouse ales, and the river walk. Everything you need is within 1 mile of the container, whether it be firewood, beverages, or food!
The container was cold at night (December and 25 degrees F) but we were able to bundle up!
We’ll be back for some spring and summer glamping and river access!

I very much enjoyed my stay at Yellow Submarine! It was spacious enough for two plus a puppy and the outdoor area was awesome. The place was as pictured, clean, and cozy. I highly recommend this spot for a visit to Saxapahaw!
