Cold Spring Basecamp is the perfect place to launch your next adventure, tucked into the mountains of Western North Carolina. Whether you’re camping, glamping, or sleeping high in a treehouse, this is your jumping-off point for biking, hiking, paddling, zip-lining, chasing waterfalls—or simply slowing down on our beautiful 38-acre property. With mountain bike trails, hiking paths, creeks, waterfalls, and wide-open space to relax, you don’t even have to leave camp to feel immersed in nature. Our one-of-a-kind treehouse is nestled high in the woods, surrounded by nothing but forest—yet equipped with all the comforts you could want: a tiled shower (with a tree in the bathroom), kitchen, heat and A/C, a loft that is perfect for the kids. The cozy A-frame cabin sits beside the creek and offer tons of charm. Three rustic, historic cabins have been thoughtfully restored to preserve their old charm while adding modern comforts. Each cabin features either a roll-down cover or glass doors that open you to the outdoors, plus the amenities that make camping easy. We also offer two tent sites and a lovely bathhouse with two private rooms (each with sink, shower, and toilet), plus an outdoor shower in the warmer months. Every stay offers a unique way to reconnect—with loved ones, with friends, or with yourself. Venture out and you’re surrounded by some of the best small mountain towns in the region, including Flat Rock, Saluda, Hendersonville, and Asheville. Each offer a myriad of great restaurants and shops. We are on the edge of apple country with orchards and wineries to explore. Just up the road you can explore nearly 100 miles of trails and stunning waterfalls at DuPont State Recreational Forest. Ride world-class mountain biking trails at Ride Rock Creek Bike Park and Ride Kanuga Bike Park, or head into Pisgah National Forest for hiking and biking. Paddle the world-famous Green River with Class I–V rapids, or soar through the trees with The Gorge Zipline. Launch your adventure—or simply stay put and let the mountains do the rest.

Enjoy this large spacious campsite next to Cold Spring Branch. Park in the first parking lot and use our wagon to load your gear down the trail to the private site tucked into the trees along the creek. A picnic table a fire ring are available and several large tent pads are cozied up next to the creek. Fetch water from the creek and use our Sawyer water filter to ensure clean treated drinking water. Hike and bike our trails, lounge in the grassy meadow or just relax in the shade. Minutes to the world class trails of Ride Rock Creek Bike Park and beautiful Lake Summit, just down the road from Ride Kanuga Bike Park and the world famous Green River, with class I-V rapids. We are at the back door of 86 miles of trails and dozens of famous waterfalls in Dupont State Forest. The steep, fast and fun Gorge Zipline is located in the quaint town of Saluda, along with shops and great restaurants. The shops and restaurants of Flat Rock and just up the hill and a bit further is the thriving town on Hendersonville, apple country and many of the areas wineries.

Spacious campsite next to Cold Spring Branch. Park in the upper lot and follow the trail with your gear in our wagon to creek and campsite. The locust log steps take you down to the picnic table and fire ring and the tent pads are cozied up next to the creek. There are at least two tent pad areas and lots of shade. Enjoy your morning coffee or evening cocktail with the rhododendron bushes overhanging your seat next to the creek. Minutes to the world class trails of Ride Rock Creek Bike Park and beautiful Lake Summit, just down the road from Ride Kanuga Bike Park and the world famous Green River, with class I-V rapids. We are at the back door of 86 miles of trails and dozens of famous waterfalls in Dupont State Forest. Our most remote cabin, nestled in the woods between two creeks, Teela Springs and Cold Spring Branch. Two bunk beds (double on the bottom and twin up top) provide lots of room for comfortable sleeping. Look out over the fire while cooking dinner on the propane stove with full kitchen amenities available. Relax on our rustic bench by the fire under the glow of solar lights. Read by lantern light on our comfy mattresses while charging your devices on our solar powered battery. When you can't relax anymore, peddle right our of the cabin into our system of mountain bike trails or hike to waterfall and cliffs. Minutes to the world class trails of Ride Rock Creek Bike Park and beautiful Lake Summit, just down the road from Ride Kanuga Bike Park and the world famous Green River, with class I-V rapids. The first cabin you come to is Bill's cabin and the site of a former homestead. Two bunk beds provide lots of room for comfortable sleeping. There is an additional long twin bed or comfy couch between the bunks. Look out over the fire while cooking dinner on the propane stove with full kitchen amenities available. Relax by the wood burning stove or campfire under the glow of solar lights. Roll down the cover for privacy at night and read by lantern light on our comfy mattresses while charging your devices on our solar powered battery. Welcome to our enchanting treehouse, nestled high among the trees in a serene woodland paradise. This unique retreat offers a perfect blend of rustic charm and modern comfort, providing an unforgettable experience for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. As you climb the trail, pass by the firepit nestled next to the creek and then ascend the steps to the swing bridge platform. You get your best view of the treehouse floating in the sky as you start over the swinging bridge. The treehouse floats high above the forest and when you land on the other side of the bridge you are greeted by a real treehouse. Fully supported by four poplar trees the treehouse blends among the forest canopy. You get a glimpse of the wood inspired interior through the glass door. Open the door to reveal a cozy treehouse full of charm. Custom walnut countertops and shelves, harvested from our property, frame the kitchen, which includes a cooktop, fridge and all the amenities you need. Swing the kitchen windows open to the outside deck, which towers above the forest floor. Eat on the outside bar top or on the bistro table inside or outside. Slide the glass doors open and lay on the comfy queen bed, soak in the views, listen for the nearby waterfall as you fully relax in the trees. The full bathroom is full of charm with a custom tiled shower, sink and toilet, all surrounded by a tree inside the bathroom. The ladder to the loft snakes through a floating net. The loft is full of windows and light and is a perfect reading nook or a cozy spot to let the kids cuddle up on the queen bed in the trees. Head back over the bridge to build a fire next to the creek, hike to the nearby waterfall, take a spin on our bike trails, walk down to our cold plunge, or just let yourself completely relax to the sounds of nature.

The corn crib has loads of rustic charm. The corn crib was an old corn storage barn and all of the wood is salvaged from the old structure , everything from the unique door to the old bunk beds. Comfortably sleep 6 in beds with cozy full size mattresses on the bottom bunk and twin beds on the top bunk. The kitchen is stocked with all the supplies you will need from a two burner propane stove, cast iron pots and pans, eating and cooking utensils, tea pot, French press and percolator. Eat at the old rustic table or at your private fire pit. Enjoy the soft glow of our Edison overhead lights and read by your own bedside lantern. When you can't relax anymore, peddle right our of the cabin into our system of mountain bike trails or hike to waterfall and cliffs. Great spot not to far off route 25 but far enough you don’t hear the road. I personally Car camped and camp site 1 was perfect because you get your own parking area. Pup friendly! The host was super helpful with suggestions in the area. If you are traveling with a pup make sure to stop at the Carl Sandburg NPS site for a Bark ranger Badge! It’s less than 20 mins away and a great place to walk your pup! Would definitely stay again if I’m ever in the Flat Rock area!

Secluded Creekside A-Frame
peaceful, and easy to find. We loved out little winter escape to the A-frame. We brought in our own water so we didnt have to filter. The toilets are great! Everything is so well keep up.

Rustic Cabin with Wood Stove
I was looking for a place to disconnect and do a little writing and couple of days at Bill's Cabin did the trick. If you don't mind limited electricity and cell service as well as fetching your water from a spring, this rustic cabin is the perfect place to escape and enjoy some downtime. Hartwell was extremely accommodating and with a good sleeping bag, it was plenty warm in late November. Highly recommend!

Def wish I’d had a sturdier vehicle due to the gravel road but it was well maintained. so no issues. Gorgeous woodsy setting. My daughter loved the treehouse & is already asking to go back

We loved this cabin, the location was great and it was very peaceful. The kitchen items were awesome, our propane was out and they brought a new tank right away. Not a lot of phone service, which was great for our family. Overall, this was a great experience and we will definitely be back.

My toddler was begging to go camping, and this was a perfect option for our first kid-friendly go at it. The ability to cook some warm meals on the stove was helpful, and not have to deal with a tent was very convenient. Mattresses on the bunks were comfy. We loved being tucked up on the hill in the Corn Crib.

Rustic Cabin with Wood Stove
We really enjoyed the quaintness of Bill‘s cabin. It was really neat having the open air feature because we could sit on the bench between the bunks and watch the fire and relax from inside the cabin. Very peaceful and relaxing space where you can enjoy nature, and still have the luxury of an actual bed and cabin instead of roughing it in a tent. We went with our three young boys just for a night and it was perfect. They woke up excited to explore the property and the cold plunge was really neat too. We will definitely be back again, and probably will bring friends next time too. It was a great experience!

Secluded Creekside Cabin
We were so pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed our stay in the Teela Springs Cabin. We have previously tent camped and this was so much fun easier and less stressful. Great amenities provided- cooking utensils , propane, charging port, and solar lights were so helpful and added to the cozy atmosphere. We will def return and hope to try out a few more spots!

We loved camping at Hartwell’s land. Everything was as described and the instructions were clear. The cold plunge was 10/10 and fellow campers were also nice. We will definitely come back!

The treehouse was amazing! It is thoughtfully layed out & just beautiful to wake up in the trees! This is my 2nd time to CSBC ( rented the corn crib before 2 yrs ago). Can see all the improvements made on the land. Super convenient to Flat Rock ( went to Carl Sandburg house) & Hendersonville for the Apple Festival. My friends are all jealous after seeing the pictures & hopefully they’ll book a night or two in the future.

The tree house was so lovely! The beds were comfy, it was incredibly clean, and it was so relaxing. Our kids loved the little fairy houses tucked in the woods. We had fun exploring the property. For longer hikes, it was convenient to Dupont and Flat Rock. I would definitely recommend for families (the loft easily slept our 4 and 7 year old). It would also be perfect for a couples trip!
