Nestled in the Asquamchumauke River valley, near the foothills of Mount Moosilauke, lies Scrump Acres. Currently stewarded by Justin, Rachel, and their trusty pup, Juliet, Scrump Acres is home to a converted 1800s Pennsylvania Dutch barn that was once Justin's childhood home. Dotted around the barn and sprawling wildflower meadow are two small orchards, an ever-expanding vegetable garden, berry patches, chickens, and a newly renovated off-grid cabin. Centrally located between Interstates 91 and 93 in quaint Warren, NH, we are within walking distance of two restaurants, an ice cream stand, a well-stocked hardware store/convenience store, a local baseball field and playground, and the town common, where you can drop in on various community gatherings year-round. A short drive will bring you to a plethora of rivers, lakes, ponds, and trailheads. If off-road motorsports are your thing, our back gate opens directly onto one of the largest ATV/snowmobile trail systems in the state. Despite all of those nearby amenities, Scrump Acres has a bustling array of wildlife and a quiet, rural feel. With our many crabapple trees and winterberry bushes lining the meadow, Scrump Acres provides a robust winter food source for rare migratory birds. On summer nights, the meadow is ablaze with thousands of fireflies set to a chorus of peepers. It's not uncommon to see a great blue heron or a bald eagle at the pond next door, which also serves as a pit stop for flocks of Canada geese during the spring and fall. If you wander the property, you'll likely see us puttering around and tending to our many projects. If you're curious, ask what we're up to, and maybe you'll get roped into making pickles or pressing cider from our fruit trees!Whimsical off-grid cabin tucked into the back corner of our meadow that looks out on a fledgling plum orchard. Recently renovated and expanded using predominantly upcycled materials, this structure has evolved from a childhood fort, to a writer's cabin, and now a cozy getaway for adventurous guests! We've stocked it with some of our favorite books and a game cabinet. Ample firewood is provided for the small woodstove and there are oil lamps dotted around the cabin for reading light. An ever-changing mix of vintage decor adorns the walls and we love a reason to rummage through an estate sale or attend a local antique auction, so don't hesitate to inquire about purchasing a few of your favorite items. Come to unplug, and we really mean unplug, as cell reception is VERY spotty here. Hiking trails, swimming holes, and some of NH's best attractions are just a few miles away. Firewood provided, firepit, communal, wood burning fireplace, private. Small woodstove inside the cabin for heat and cooking and a shared firepit on the property. Firewood provided.

Toilet available

Composting toilet. We are very proud of the outhouse we built. Notice the curtains, handmade with vintage fabric! Dutch door for a poop with a view.

Pets allowed

On leash. Pets may be allowed off-leash at our discretion upon meeting. Our resident dog is very friendly, but for everyone's safety we reserve the right to require close supervision of pets.

Potable water available

Bottled water or jugs. We will provide a water container filled from a local spring. This is the water that we drink. We have never had any issues with contamination and we drink it straight from the spring without purifying. Some people choose to boil it before consuming.

Compost bin, recycling bin, trash bin

Cooking equipment present

Stovetop or hot plate. There is a small woodstove and gas burner with a water kettle, coffee pot, basic camp cookware, coffee mugs, and water glasses, as well as a wash basin for light cleaning.

No showers

Bathe in river or stream. The upper Baker river, a short drive away, is where we usually bathe during the summer months. There is a wash basin in the cabin for face washing or sponge bathing.

Not to be missed!

Writer's Cabin

Scrump Acres is amazing! Rachel and Justin are impeccable, thoughtful hosts, and the cabin is truly lovely and one-of-a-kind. Bonus points for walkable ice-cream joint! Our travels only allowed us to stay one night before moving on, but we wish we could have stayed longer. We will be back! Don’t miss this wonderful spot!
