Pros: Owner very nice and even gave us vegetables from her garden. Laundry facilities are free. About an hour from Cody WY, which we visited twice.
Cons: Long unpaved road to get to the location and the sites are very close together. The main drawback is the neighboring lot is within feet of the Hipcamp site.

Kim was very helpful! We arrived after dark and she came out to help us find our way. The campground was quiet and a good landing place to explore the area!

We had a good experience here and enjoyed meeting and talking with Kim. She was quick to meet us when we arrived and was helpful with picking out a site. The campground is 2.5 miles off the main road down a washboard dirt road and is a quick 30 min drive to Red Lodge. The campground is not up to the standards depicted in the photos. The sites are not numbered and it appears to be a first come choice of sites. We were fortunate to have picked a level site. Some of the sites have hookups at the end of the site so you may need electrical and drain hose extensions. Most of the RV sites are occupied by long term residents. A nice feature is that there no fee to use the washer and dryer for laundry. On the flip side there is only one dryer and one washer. We were there on a holiday weekend when most residents were away and had no problem accessing and using the laundry machines. We did not use the single shower/bathroom. The sign indicated users are expected to clean and disinfect after each use. There is no WiFi but we had descent AT&T cellular service. It was quiet at night with no highway noise and the sunset over the mountains is gorgeous.

Plusses: 1) full hookup-we used water and electric; 2) available 50-amp service and some pull-through sites.
Minuses: 1) sites are unnumbered and the pedestals are very close to one another; 2) the entire property was covered in crushed rock gravel and there were no picnic tables or fire rings; 3) we wouldn't use the shower because the facility didn't feel prepared for guest use.
After driving 2 miles on a washboard road, it seemed anything but welcoming. Speaking of welcome, we had no contact with a host.

First time RV owner and wanted somewhere close to "practice" all the things. Kim was the best! AND the sunset was amazing!

The host was fantastic! She offered us great recommendations for Red Lodge and we loved it! Bathrooms were available with nice pressure and hot water. The ranch itself is off the beaten path but the view is incredible.

I loved camping at Beartrap ranch! The host Kim was absolutely amazing and very hospitable. It was really quiet and a very nice getaway. We will definitely be back!

I have to say.......a great experience from start to finish!!
Kim reached out while we were in route, greeted us upon arrival and showed us our site. It is really a very nice place to spend time. Sunsets are fantastic. The town of Red Lodge is about a half hour drive, there is a turnout for an old abandoned mining operation.
Whenever we are back in the area we will be staying at the Bear Trap.
