Amelia was great at guiding us over the phone to our remote site. We passed another populated site on our way to our area but never saw another person the whole stay. It’s very remote and peaceful. If you are accustomed to dispersed camping and looking for a high level of privacy, this is the way to go. Our site is was beautiful as well. Sunrise over native grasses and trees, on a small elevated space that overlooked the rest of the large property. Highly recommend this spot.

Great last minute option. Fifteen minutes from the village of Empire. Make sure to get instructions prior to arriving as cell coverage was spotty. Try and get the campsites past the chicken coop.

Great site - private and beautiful. Definitely reach out to the host for the additional info for sites- GPS takes you only so far. Host was very responsive and gave us thorough directions on the phone.

The site was on a modest hilltop with a wide view of wind passing over the pine trees. The loudest sounds are the herons and geese flying over. It is the darkest night sky you will find. My dog had the time of her life being able to run free. A great place to connect with nature.

One of the most beautiful rustic camping experiences in the lower US. Property was clean, quiet, remote. There were a few other families camping, but they were far out of our sight or sound. So we felt like we had the whole of hundreds of acres to ourselves. Being your own water and firewood. Make sure you have a fairly high clearance vehicle, but most family SUVs should be fine. The only small complaint I’d have is there isn’t any signage and it’s a bit tricky to find. But once you’re there, it’s perfect. We’ll definitely be back.

We had an amazing experience and really enjoyed the property.
I think it’s very important for people to know that this is pretty rough camping. There are no restrooms, no trash bins, no easy access water pump. It’s very much so a “bring it in, pack it out” type of experience.
The water is technically accessible, however, it requires one to find the generator and figure out how to turn that on, and only if there’s already gas in it.
We did not see any trash cans available.
The grounds were gorgeous! I loved the horses and enjoyed the turkeys as well.
But again, it’s pretty rough camping. The grass is very tall and unmanaged throughout most of the outer grounds, but we discovered that if you stick through it long enough, it does eventually show a couple of less grassy spots and fire pits. The terrain is very hilly (much like a lot of Michigan) and it can be difficult to find a flat enough surface for tent camping. We camped in our Subaru and it was perfect.
I would highly recommend this property to experienced campers, but would recommend those that aren’t as experienced that they try somewhere else.

Beyond secluded, quiet and dark skies. But be prepared for bugs and tall grass. It’s an unmanaged field at the top of the hill, definitely need 4wd. I’ve already told my friends to come camp here and I’ll be returning one day!!

The land is beautiful and vast here. BUT! We ran into a lot of trouble finding the campsite as there is no signing or clear directions. You NEED an off road vehicle to get to the distant sites as the grasses are super long and the path is really unclear. Did not see clear firepits in the distant sites, as the grasses are so long it overtook any walking space. my recommendation is to get there early and camp near the tepee. Minimal bugs and a quiet place.

If you are looking to step away from the busy life... reserve with Amelia! Beautiful views, sounds of nature, and a night sky (dark skies) worthy of at least one magical memory. Completely away from the cities, back deep inside the country... Rustic Camping areas, complete with horses (bring carrots), a full array of feathered friends to keep you company. If you are into birding, highly recommend this space. I couldn't get enough of the variety - wrens, cowbirds, humming birds, ravens, white throated sparrows, woodpeckers, hawks, geese, owls even a small flock of I believe herons flew in the last morning. If you are fortunate the sunsets and the sunrises are beyond Magical. Little amenities, so be prepared with water, backwoods toilets/ shower options, and keep sites clean. Lots of critters to visit with. I will be back soon!

Would absolutely stay here again. Amelia was very helpful and provided information after the booking that made it very easy to find the location. It was peaceful and beautiful, which is exactly what we were looking for. Great camping spot!

Amelia’s property was very secluded and private, we were tent camping and were given two sites to choose from, the far site is very private and located down a not so maintained 2 track, the site itself isn’t the most ideal for tents if ground sleeping. The only level areas had very rough patches of grass. We opted for the closer site which also was tough to find a level sleeping pad. The sites had grass just below knee high, maybe bring a weed wacker. The campsite has an awesome view over the meadow, and is unmatched for the views you experience at night. Amelias herself was an absolute sweetheart and very accommodating, would certainly recommend.

Amelia’s property is absolutely amazing, it has very secluded and primitive sites which makes it feel as though you’ve truly escaped. Beautiful rolling hills, wild horses, natural fire pits and incredible star gazing at night make this a truly special place. Plus, Amelia herself is a fantastic host, she sent clear and timely messaging, greeted us when we arrived and guided us to our site. We will definitely be staying here again!

This is our second stay at Amelia's land and we'll definitely be back. We stayed at a different site than last time but I don't think there's a bad campsite on her land. Her property is perfectly located. Close enough to go do touristy stuff if you want but perfect for seclusion and relaxation away from the mainstream places. Perfect place to decompress and unwind in nature.

Nice private space with great sunset views. The campsite was a little hard to find because of the lack of clear signage but Amelia was quick to respond to help us out. The site we were at was basically dirt and weeds. It was fine for our camper van but may be tough in a tent.

we had an awesome time here, the land was beautiful! the best part: virtually no bugs. we did not get one mosquito bite the whole weekend (camped early august). the star gazing was amazing!
Amelia was responsive and very helpful, but definitely bring your own water jugs or bring enough money to buy water just in case.
overall, we had a wonderful time and we will certainly be back :)

Overall the site was excellent. Clean, private with a great view of rolling hills.
The only two improvements I would recommend are better site labels and improved road access. Most of the sites were marked with a feather and a hand written sign. Ours was not but it was obvious from the directions provided by the host. However, when we returned to our site on the third night there, another guest had moved into our spot. They thought it was Site 1b (we were at Site 4). They must have missed the sign for 1b on the way in.
The roads onsite are rough and require a vehicle with decent clearance. This was not an issue for my vehicle but I was surprised how much it set my truck camper (a little top heavy) to swinging going 5mph in a couple stretches.

We camped in the back of Amelia’s property at the top of the hill and the surroundings of our site were beautiful! It was so quiet and peaceful. The only sounds we heard were a flock of wild turkeys in the woods, occasional coyotes far off, birds, frogs, crickets and Amelia’s rooster in the distance in the morning hours. There was no human sound or light pollution so the star viewing was amazing! Please know the the field/road grass was very tall and road a bit rough to get to the sites so 4 wheel drive and higher vehicle clearance are a must. If you need water (we brought ours but when we bumped into Amelia our second day, she asked if we needed H2O) or access to a trash bin, you should coordinate that with Amelia before coming. Amelia was very friendly.

We had such an amazing stay on Amelia’s land. The views were beautiful, Amelia was kind and helpful, and let us give treats to the horses. It was the perfect nature escape. I will say 4wd is helpful once you’re into the property. I would stay here again in a heartbeat, and hope to return!
