In the teens (and in their teens) my paternal grandparents immigrated to Massachusetts from Sweden's island of Gotland. Every summer in the 1960s my family visited Cape Cod aunts and uncles, cousins and all those Swedish relatives. Sigren Summerhouse is an homage to both those happy Cape Cod memories and to the summerhouse that my father Vincent built beside the barn and the creek that ran behind his Victorian-era house in Michigan. Pops loved gardening, churning homemade ice cream, telling stories and welcoming people with a hearty Swedish Hillbillie hug. Learn more about this land: Get away from it all at Sigren Summerhouse's cabin-chic year-round retreat. The rustic creek-side barn has modern styling and all the conveniences of modern life. The grounds and gardens are in the heart of Cape Cod's oldest village, Sandwich. It is both close to Upper Cape amenities and a great departure point for exploring all the Cape and Islands have to offer.

Slice of Heaven Swedish-Style

My husbsand and I just got back home from our trip on the east coast. Staying in Sandwhich at this beautiful Summerhouse was for sure one of our favorite highlights! Attention to detail was so impressive, the house is so well stocked, it will have everything you could possibly need. Very clean, and just so beautiful inside and out. We loved using the Sauna, and cooking in! I would suggest going and buying some local fish, coming back home to the fully functional kitchen and cooking up some dinner! You will want to spend as much time here as possible on your trip!

Slice of Heaven Swedish-Style

Krista & Amelia are wonderful hosts and I would definitely recommend their Swedish get-away to anyone wishing to go to the Cape! Their barn loft apartment is just gorgeous, from the modern bathroom downstairs to the elegant full kitchen upstairs and the serene creek just outside. Everything is very clean and well-maintained and their wonderful attention to detail leaves you with all the essentials you could ever need. You can relax in the hammock by the creek, cook in the beautiful kitchen, eat in the dining area or outside at your private table, read in one of the cozy beds, and walk or drive around quaint Sandwich for food, shopping, and history. It truly is a "slice of heaven"!
