Couldn’t have been better
Wild fox was exactly what we were looking for. Here’s what I’d want to read if I were you: the lake is beautiful and the site is right on it. We saw otters, beavers, loons, eagles (and pissed off squirrels), and moose tracks so you might get luckier there. There was almost nobody around any of the lakes we checked out, though I can’t speak for summer. Site has dense-feeling woods with a short walk, it will feel private regardless of the time of year. Showers (coin op)/bathrooms are very clean and not too far, the portable toilet was convenient. Camp store seems thoughtfully stocked, or it’s about half hour to gas station in Springfield. BYO kettle or pot for boiling, everything else is there. BYO propane if you want to use heater (we didn’t, warm sleeping bags were enough). Everyone was very friendly and I’m sure would have been helpful with any issue. I didn’t find many longer hiking trails that weren’t an hour away unless you count the snowmobile and atv routes, but there are several short ones, Dobsis Narrows was nice, Horseshoe Lake trail was accessible, I recommend checking out Almanac Mtn (the one with the tower) which is a short easy hike with gorgeous long views over the lakes. Overall 10/10, the place is perfect for someone who wants to have a bed but also feel like you’re actually in the woods. They also have regular campsites and cabins alternatively. Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful place!
