The Howling Woods

Great spot! Lots of details thought of with the firepit grill and utensils including marshmallow roasting sticks. Loved the counter and mushroom stools! Wouldn’t feel comfortable in windy weather just due to the shallow rooted trees- but it’s a beautiful spot! Reminded me of camping on the Olympic peninsula.

The Vanland campsite is not really a campsite. It is a pull out from the main road that is barely large enough to pull a van/truck camper into and be off the main driveway. For the money, it is not a campsite. There is a small area you walk to where you can have a fire, but the main place where you have your van and where you sleep is not remotely a campsite. It is awkward and not level. We both woke up with headaches from sleeping with our heads downhill. We didn’t think we needed to level the vehicle at a paid campsite. The instructions highlight the speed limit on the road and the penalty being eviction with no refund, yet after dark the owner came in way above the speed limit, pulled in right next to our truck to turn around so he could back up his drive way, spun out his tires, and then backed up his driveway shining his lights right into our vehicle for 10-15 minutes. It is not private. Do not expect it to be private. The waterlines were frozen. There is no discounted rate for the winter, so it was overall very disappointing.

We had a very positive and peaceful experience camping here for a few nights while exploring Acadia! We could tell how much work went into making the campsite welcoming and comfortable, and Brendan was quick to answer any questions we had. Would stay here again!

We had a great experience here! They had everything you needed from a smokeless fire pit, to s’mores sticks! It was fairly private and not super close to the other sites on the property which was defiantly a major plus!

These are great camping sites if you appreciate privacy and a little more funky! Stayed at site#1. Its great they are availible when other campgrounds close for the season. Will use again!

Wow!! This has got to be my favorite Hipcamp so far. The twisted tree site is gorgeous, funky, clean, and so fun. The moss on the trees, the carved barstools, all the built-in seating and surfaces... I WILL be back. Brendan responds quickly and is very helpful and kind!

The Right Amount of Wild

Maple leaf campsite is so lovely! It’s private, quiet, and comfortable, with a very short walk from the parking spot. The built in raw wood bar and benches are super useful without compromising the woodsy vibe. We will be coming back next time we’re in Maine. Highly recommend!!

Camping with our Pup

We had a wonderful experience at Brendan’s land. He was super helpful with finding our site (we got in after dark) There are two outhouses and wood for sale on site. All of the sites are well spread out so you can have plenty of privacy. Cell phone service is limited, so plan accordingly. We were looking forward to unplugging on our trip, so this was not an issue for us! You can tell that he has put a lot of love into each site and looks to have more projects in the works! Very cool place. We would stay again in the future!!!

Peaceful and convenient camping

Cute, peaceful, and thoughtful camping site with everything you need to enjoy basic camping. It was thoughtfully designed and constructed. We had no issues during our stay. Given how crowded Acadia can get, this was a great option for people looking for a bit more privacy and quiet, while still being 20 to 45 mins from everything. It is not completely isolated, as there are multiple campsites, but they are spread out enough that you feel like you have your own space and privacy. Outhouse was clean and convenient and firewood was a good price. Would stay again!

We had such a great stay at the Twisted Tree site! The spot is peaceful, private, and beautifully set by the bridge and woodwork, perfect for evenings around the fire pit. Brendan was an amazing host, super helpful and welcoming, which made the experience even better. The location is ideal, close to Acadia, but quiet and relaxing at the end of the day. We’d definitely stay here again!

My partner and I spent two nights camping here while visiting Acadia and exploring the island. The site was nice and secluded away from the other sites so it felt private while being easy to find. You can tell Brendan is very dedicated to making the sites feel homey and they are all very beautiful. There was no electricity at our site and there wasn’t any water during our stay but we spent most of our time exploring/didnt feel it was a necessity. Would definitely stay there again and would recommend! Thanks Brendan!

Tent camping was a breeze at cedar grove (site 2). 2 good sized tent spots, a fire pit that had a grate for cooking, and your own outhouse! We decided to put our tent in the smaller site under the trees because of rain and we stayed dry all night. This was my first Hipcamp experience and it couldn’t have been better.

We camped in the van site after a day of traveling. We just needed the spot for a night. It was quiet even though other campers were pretty close. It’s a gorgeous area filled with amazing wildlife and birds. The outhouse was quite a trek from our site and it only had a half door where the top was open. I’d recommend bringing your own camping toilet if you’re at a tent or van site here. All in all, I’d recommend the site but only with proper planning.

Magical experience in the mossy woods! The camp site had a breakfast bar built into the trees and campfire spot. There were stunning mushrooms and fairie houses. The campsite was private with easily accessible outhouse and firewood. Highly recommend this spot! Very close to Acadia!
