Or take the ferry from Winter Harbor and skip the drive and traffic/parking stress!Park your camper on our private lot in the heart of Downeast Maine. Privacy, quiet, abundant wildlife, and unforgettable sunsets make this a special place to stay. Back your RV down the straight, level gravel driveway and park near the forest edge with western views overlooking Frenchman Bay. A short walk down the grassy old well-house road leads to a sunset viewing area where the evening sky often becomes the highlight of the day. Wildlife sightings are common and may include bald eagles, loons, wild turkey, harbor seals, porpoises, deer, mink, coastal waterfowl, and many songbirds. On quiet evenings, you can sometimes hear seals calling from the harbor. Located in West Gouldsboro on the Schoodic Peninsula Scenic Byway, this site provides easy access to some of Maine’s most beautiful outdoor destinations. Acadia National Park’s Schoodic District, Frenchman Bay Conservancy trails, Jones Pond, Grindstone Point, Winter Harbor, and the Winter Harbor ferry to Bar Harbor are all within about 20 minutes. The area is known for exceptional dark skies and some of the best stargazing in the Northeast. This is a boondocking site. Self-contained RVs are required as there is currently no water, sewer, or electric service. Solar-friendly areas are available along portions of the driveway. Please arrive before dark if possible, as the area becomes extremely dark at night. Large fifth wheels may find access challenging due to the road width and driveway configuration. We are actively restoring the property by removing invasive plant species, and all Hipcamp proceeds are reinvested into improving the land and guest experience. * We have two game cameras on site. It is away from the camping site and only used for monitoring our natural spring on site, wildlife and so we can check weather conditions.
