Please, NO pets! Thank you for reading this entire description for rules and directions on how to get to Hidden Brook. Hidden Brook is located on a small family-owned vegetable farm five minutes outside the village of Cornish, Maine. Three generations of farmers live here presently, but our family has been working this land since the mid 1700’s.  Cornish is a pretty special place to live and visit because we are about 50 minutes drive from both the city of Portland on the coast and the White Mountains to the west. There are tons of local hikes here in the foothills, two big rivers to float or paddle, dozens of swim spots, good fishing, and a lively little village with at least 7 antiques shops, local art, and some pretty darn good restaurants. Our neighborhood even hosts some of the best musicians in the world each July at The Ossippee Valley Music Festival. Yeah, we got it all going on! Come play with us or just chill at Hidden Brook. So far, we have one spot open for “glamping”, The Bus, but we will add the Wagon this fall. The Bus, an engineless 1973 Bluebird School bus is pretty pimped out. Though off the grid, cell reception is pretty good and rechargable lighting is provided. Our outdoor kitchen, on a spacious deck ( fenced in for kids ) includes a heavy duty propane stove, Yeti cooler and pots and pans. Indoors, there’s a slop-bucket sink for tooth-brushing (dishes are to be washed out on the deck ), a small woodstove to take off the chill come fall and a nice big fire pit outside. Wood is provided. Buses can get hot in summer, so we put ours in a shady little grove of ancient oaks amongst the remains of the farm’s original stonework and installed screens the full length of the bus. We built a compost-style outhouse and a beautiful outdoor shower we call “The Cold Drizzler” down in the old homestead cellar hole. Kind of a secret garden bathroom : ) Inside is a full-sized bed for one or two people and two cot-sized “75 long bunks, sleeping a total of four humans. Quality mattresses, sheets and blankets with a change of sheets and tons of pillows ought to provide a comfortable night’s sleep. Four towels and face cloths provided. Coffee and “pour-overs” on site as well as silverware, bowls and plates. All you really need is ice for the cooler and your food - or just go out to eat. Check out our site as well!  Wildcampmaine.com Other things to note: Absolutely no smoking inside All shoes off before entering Quiet hours from 9:30 pm to 6:30 am ( we live in a small community and wish to respect our neighbors ) This is not a party camp, but a place to relax and listen to the birds. Please enjoy your music quietly. This is a working farm, but we will be as sensitive as possible when it comes to any loud machinery use like irrigation pumps and tractors while guests are around. Our dogs may visit, but are laid back once they have anounced your arrival. Directions to Hidden Brook and the Bus: You will be given directions to an address once you book but please make sure that you follow the signage to the bus carefully, otherwise you’ll end up at the wrong property. Drive until you see two giant, eyeballs attached to a telephone pole, and the bus will be immediately after that on your right. Thank you so much.

The Purple Bus is forever parked in an ancient grove of red oaks on a quiet dirt road in the hills a few miles outside the village of Cornish. We built this super fancy camp on the actual site of the original farm house and barn of our family’s ancestors. We think they’d approve. An outdoor shower and compost style outhouse are set down inside the stone cellar hole giving the vibe and privacy of a walled in garden. There’s a generously sized deck with an outdoor kitchen as well as a firepit. Plenty of furniture to make a comfortable hang spot for four humans. This is our only site on the farm, so it’s all yours. Read further to see how much there is to do around here. Your own vehicle is a must as we have no public transportation in these parts. Portland and the beaches are 50 minutes east and the White Mountains are 50 minutes west.

The Wagon

About The Wagon: Off grid, but romantic usb rechargable lighting and good phone reception. Composting outhouse, outdoor kitchen, large Yeti cooler, outdoor solar bag shower, firepit with wood provided, outdoor furniture. Inside is small - 14 feet long by 7.5 feet wide. The photographs might make it look bigger. Porch is 5 feet long by 8 feet wide. Inside and outside ceilings are 8.2 feet tall. There is a full size bed for two people and a 75 inch bunk ( which doubles as a couch ) for a third person. Quality mattresses, sheets and blankets with a change of sheets and tons of pillows ought to provide a comfortable night’s sleep. Three towels and face cloths provided. Cooking and eating utensils, and pots and pans are provided in the outdoor kitchen along with coffee, tea and “pour-overs”. All you really need is ice for the cooler and your food - or just go out to eat. There is a heater available in the wagon to keep the chill away during cooler months! Inspired by Romani vardos, the Wagon is something I have dreamed about building since I was a child. Over 50 years ago, while my family was between houses in Europe, we rented a wagon pulled by a beautiful work horse and spent our summer exploring southern France. There were four bunks, and one of us slept on the floor. That summer was one of the happiest of my childhood. I am a dreamer and a builder. I can’t stop creating fun little living spaces. It’s kind of a problem :-) The photographs speak for themselves, but one of my friends described the wagon as a rustic, boho, shabby-chic fairy house on wheels.  All I know is it it was a lot of fun to create and when no one is renting it, I like to use it as my napping center.  The Wagon, is our second Hipcamp site and new to the scene. The Bus, our original site is about 350 feet, as the crow flies, through the woods, with it’s own entrance and amenities, so you should have plenty of privacy.  About Hidden Brook: Hidden Brook is located on a small family-owned vegetable farm five minutes outside the village of Cornish, Maine. A perfectly simple night away
The Purple Bus
My teenage daughter asked if I’d bring her and her friend camping or glamping for a night. I knew I didn’t want to set up a tent, and I needed a place that allowed a one night rental. I found Andrews’ Purple Bus, and messaged her asking if she’d be okay letting us rent it the very next night (nothing like spur of the moment). She responded quickly, and was all in, said she just needed to rake some leaves. The property is immaculately kept amidst a woods setting. She had warmed the bus already by starting a fire in the wood stove. The place is well stocked with any incidentals one might forget, and the space is all used perfectly to fit 3 beds, a table, a kitchen area, and a wood stove. The bus abutts a deck that has a well stocked outdoor kitchen that is also very well stocked with the necessary cooking utensils and such. The wood stove keeps the bus warm at night. The lighting made for great ambiance while we played some board games, and turn off with a click of a remote leaving a perfect dark interior (you know, the kind of pure darkness you get without electronics, and street lights, and other technological nuisances!) which make for a deep sleep, as the wood crackles in the stove. Simple and easy in all the best ways. Thank you for welcoming us on such short notice.

We love the purple bus! Inside is spacious and well stocked for all your needs, with cozy beds, pretty twinkle lights, and a roaring wood stove at the foot of the bed. Plenty of room to roam, cook, and have a fire.

Andrews is friendly and goes above and beyond to make sure your stay is comfortable as possible. She is informative of the area and surrounding things to do around the season. Super host. We had an absolutely wonderful time on the purple bus! Andrews has thought of so many small details that made the stay cozy and convenient, while still being tucked away in a corner of the woods, amidst the sounds of the forest at night and beneath beautiful starry skies. The bus is clean and super well-organized, with lots of clear instructions about how to make sure everything works smoothly, which it does! Andrews and John attend to campers with kindness and very responsive availability. We could not have asked for better hosts.

Our stay here was absolutely wonderful! The land and the bus we stayed in both have a deep history, and you can feel the care and love that’s been poured into them over the years. The bus was cozy, charming, and filled with thoughtful touches that made us feel right at home. The peace and quiet were exactly what we needed, and there were so many sweet details taken care of that made our stay extra special. We also loved exploring the area—there are so many adorable spots nearby to discover. If you’re looking for a unique, relaxing, and heart-filled getaway, we can’t recommend this place enough!

Our one night stay was amazing, the host make sure everything was ready for our arrival, even brought us some blueberries. This places is magical and one night feel like it wasn't enough, everything works very well, we were three and didn't have problems with space or anything else, we absolutely recommend this place and I wish we can come backs soon!

The bus was amazingly cozy! The time we were there, it was storming out and the bus with its wood stove and warm lights, made the experience that extra level of awesomeness. Andrews was kind enough to start the wood stove before we even got there! She was great and the area was peaceful. Oh also free roaming puppers was a bonus in the morning!

Loved my stay in the bus! Spent 4 chilly nights in late October here and it was very cozy, private, and comfortable. The bus (w kitchen) is stocked perfectly with everything I could need, including drinking water and plenty of firewood for the stove inside or the outdoor fire pit. Thanks to the thoughtful placement, the shower and outhouse are close and also very private. Everything was nice and clean and the paths were raked right before i arrived to help me get the lay of the land. Lots of thoughtful touches. If you’re interested in guided trekking, book some time with the host. She is very knowledgeable and can help you have a great time in the woods. Highly recommend the purple bus!

What a gem of a spot!! Andrew’s has truly thought of everything and has built the coziest hideaway in the woods. We had 4 people and fit comfortably in the bus, made meals in the outdoor kitchen, and hung out by the fire at night. The beds were extremely comfy, dishes and cooking supplies were available, and she was even generous enough to share firewood. What a special place- it felt like an honor to be allowed to spend a weekend here! 10/10 all around!!

The Purple Bus
We stayed at the Purple Bus for a little weekend getaway and could not have been more satisfied with our stay. Andrews did an amazing job bringing this Magical oasis in the woods to life. The bus site was tucked into a little wooded niche right off the road providing ample privacy, fantastic outdoor fire pit area to relax by in the evenings and outdoor kitchen on the deck with everything we needed to whip up some good meals. The bathroom and shower situation was spotless and very well thought out, the cold drizzler was very refreshing after a hike. The interior of the bus was very cozy , comfortable and spacious! we enjoyed having a little fire going in the wood burning stove at night with the windows cracked open listening to the wildlife as we drifted off to bed. 5 stars would definitely recommend to everyone that's looking to get away for a bit in Maine! Thank you Andrews for an amazing experience!

The Purple Bus
What a beautiful spot ! We would've stayed there for a week or more ! We felt at home and welcomed. Our little 4 yr old had a lot of fun "driving" the bus and playing in the Woods all around. The bus had everything we needed, from little cosy lights to the fire pit with dry wood and griddles of all sorts.

The Purple Bus
The purple bus is an awesome place to spend some time outdoors! The bus is located is a really fun area of Maine, close to some great restaurants and swimming holes. We were able to hike a couple a places Andrews recommended in her very detailed book. And even though it rained every night the bus kept us nice and dry! The cold drizzle shower was great for rinsing off after the hike. Thanks for the great stay Andrews!

One of the best glamping spots in Maine I'm telling you. Right in the middle of everything 30minutes to North Conway and NH. There's also plenty to do right around Cornish with river floating, concerts, swimming, bridge jumping and more. The bus was designed very well and will comfortably fit 4 people didn't feel cramped once the whole trip. Outhouse and shower were both great aswell will 100% be staying here again in the future and I highly recommend this spot to anyone traveling near Maine or New Hampshire. Andrews is also a great host and very accommodating to anything you may need during your stay couldn't have had a better trip. Thank you

I had the most wonderful time .. I’ll treasure The memories of this visit forever . I came home to Maine for my yearly visit with my son and family members. My son recommended this site in this place as I said can you find me a B&B and he says I know one down the road from his home in Cornish, which I absolutely love . The surrounding communities are so beautiful and allow me to travel go sightseeing ,hiking and I even got to drive down to where I used to live in the Kennebunk to go to the ocean. It’s a quick easy trip to hit all the surrounding areas . No matter what type of camper, you are a primitive camper a regular camper a glam camper you’re going to love the Tranquility and peaceful wonderful environment and if you’re in my crowd of the older group group that bus and all The memories of growing up it was beyond cool. It was happening. There’s a fire pit Beautiful deck and a place to cook outside and spend your evenings so hurry to Maine Because Iand book because I’m gonna be booking again I’ll never forget full time I had at this bus, the purple bus, especially the welcoming great as we pulled in the driveway and Andrew was in the chair, waving and smiling, and gave me a hug to welcome me to her home which became my home during my visit so all I have to say to everyone is go there and enjoy it and make It it your home as well. Enjoy your Time making memories in the purple bus👍😊😊

Get on the bus!
The Purple Bus
This is an exceptional and unique experience -- just like the host herself. The outdoor shower and outhouse were deluxe, and the bed was comfy. I loved being in the woods alone in the BUS but felt safe and secure at the same time. It could easily fit a whole family. Coffee on the deck listening to the birds was a highlight. Only stayed one night and wished I had a longer time. Cornish is a cute town - great antique shops and Krista's is a terrific place to eat. I think I might have been the first of Andrews' guests, but everything went smoothly. Will return.
