Pitch your tent at a private waterfront campsite along 1.8 miles of uninterrupted shoreline on the Molunkus Stream. This primitive, off-grid dry campsite offers the perfect blend of raw Maine wilderness and spine-chilling local history. We sit right beside the notorious Haynesville Woods, a dense forest steeped in decades of paranormal folklore, ghostly sightings, and local legend. When night falls, the atmosphere here is undeniably spooky—perfect for swapping stories around the campfire. Haynesville Woods, immortalized in country music lore ("A Tombstone Every Mile"), is a well-known stretch of Route 2A. If you love ghost stories, local legends, and a thrillingly spooky vibe after dark, this is your ultimate destination. Pitch your tent by the water, light the fire, and listen closely to the whispering pines. You are a stone’s throw from the stretch of Route 2A famous for its eerie mists and tales of the “Phantom Bride.” This is a primitive dry campsite (no water or electricity on site). However, it is conveniently close to a state-maintained rest area, making access simple and practical. Pack in your own water, leave no trace, and prepare for a peaceful night under the stars—if you can sleep! About 1 hour from the south entrance of Baxter State Park.The site sits on the Molunkus Stream. It is good for fishing & swimming. It is a short gravel driveway, flat for parking an RV or pitching a tent. Molunkus River Valley. The Haynesville Haunted Woods. Very dense forest. Quite close to Rte 2A. Great base camp.
