Peaceful and Quiet

This place had it all! I loved being next to the river. It was quiet and peaceful. The campsite was private. The host gave us space so we could really get away from it all. The campsite was also very clean and felt safe. We absolutely loved it!

Riverside Camping at it’s finest!!

Claude has a slice of paradise!! This was our second visit and we hope for many more. We stayed at Toddy this trip, and it did not disappoint. Picturesque nook on a riverbend with a fire pit and cooking grate, complete with fully stocked firewood. Picnic table, tiki torches….just a hint of glamping. Bathroom facility is clean and pleasant to use. Cheers, Claude!! We love everything about Flatrock and will be back in 2026!

Beautiful spot. We loved the fire pit and the wood was included. Tiki torches were provided which was also a nice amenity. Quiet and peaceful spot at the water.

We enjoyed staying on “Toddy” at Claude’s campground. The site was very easy to find with gps from our home and then directions for the specific site on the booking information Claude provides. This site is overlooking the water with multiple paths down the embankment to be able to fish or launch kayaks/canoes. There is one site adjacent “rockside” and both together would be perfect for a large gathering or extended family trip. The porta potty is a short walk away and was extremely clean with services done weekly. Even with the water low, the rocks were amazing to spend time on. We lost track of how many small fish we caught. My kiddo brought his bike and loved going around the loop or walking it up the hill to fly down it. Our dog loved rock climbing and swimming. Being able to stargaze out on the rocks and hear the rush of the rapids at the same time was amazing. Claude was super accommodating and came down the day after check in to make sure everything was going smoothly. He advised us where more wood was, offered to even go get some, and was happy to answer our questions about future planning for the campground. We saw numerous animals including hawks, eagles and porcupines. The swimming hole was refreshing over the hot weekend with the sides of the rocks making the perfect slides. We did run into town once or twice to try out some local food and grab more ice- only a few minutes down the road. Definitely will be back to experience Claude’s land again next year.

Great stay on the Point!

We loved camping here! Claude is a generous host who has put a lot of love into this campground. Our site was very large, private, and had water views. The fire pit is really big. The river babbling by was a lovely soundtrack! There are some other great sites we would love to tent camp on someday as well. The Point accommodated our 21' trailer but backing in was pretty tricky. I'd only recommend it for a trailer if you have a back up camera (we don't, lol) or are a real pro. We didn't get to kayak up the river this time, we were having too much paddling around the swimming hole, and relaxing on the huge flat rock. We hope to get back!

Lovely, peaceful spot right on the river. The campground was quiet, with large sites spaced generously from one another. The port a johns were spotless and supplied with toilet paper and sanitizer. The river itself was great to explore, we even took one of the canoes available for a quick spin. Thanks for having us!

The setting was beautiful, very peaceful and serene (granted we were there without other campers for the most part) I bought tons of things to do, but spent the first day just taking in the natural surroundings, watching inchworms fall into the water and waiting for a fish to come and dine. We did get neighbors on our second day but the way the sites are set up you don't really see anyone. Claude was very friendly and welcoming. The areas were clean and well kept. The Flatrock area is absolutely gorgeous! When we stayed the water level was quite low but you still heard the sounds of running water which we found very soothing. Claude even offered us the use of a little row boat and we were able to paddle up the stream a bit and that was lovely. We would love to go back in the future when the water is truly running to take that in but otherwise a very pleasant host and site.

I don't even know where to begin, this campsite was incredible. We made the reservation last minute and they still provided everything for us. We arrived and there was already a pile of wood waiting for us, which would be enough for our stay, but they provided more if we needed it. There were also torches and mosquito repellent candles waiting for us at the campsite, comfortable chairs and they provide a chemical toilet that was cleaner than usual, hahaha. The photos don't do the place justice. I seriously recommend this campsite and I'll be back next year to stay longer. Thank you.

Flat Rock Quarry Site

Words cannot describe how breath takingly serene this site is. Claude offers a super convenient set up—site is clean, there were a couple fire canisters we could light to deter bugs, we came to a giant stack of firewood at our disposal. The quarry is absolutely stunning. All you could hear was the stream and breeze with the occasional laughter of other visitors in the distance. I usually am one to get up in the morning with an eagerness to start my day, but when it was time to go I found myself dragging my feet, admiring the trees. Great space, Claude (and I imagine he has a team) takes wonderful care of the land.

Most Magical Campground in Maine

Flat Rock Acorn Site

We traveled from Pennsylvania to Maine in search of a true wilderness experience, and this campground exceeded all expectations! We stayed at the Acorn site, which was perfectly maintained and had so many thoughtful touches. The tiki torches around the site not only created a magical glow but also helped keep the bugs at bay. The fireplace was amazing—perfect for cooking—and the endless supply of firewood made campfires effortless and enjoyable. The swimming hole was the crown jewel! Just a short stroll from our site, it was the perfect spot to cool off, swim, and fish. Our kids had the time of their lives catching fish almost every time they cast a line—it truly felt like something out of a storybook. The hosts were so welcoming and clearly put a lot of heart into caring for the grounds. This campground feels like Maine’s best-kept secret, but it won’t stay hidden for long. We can’t wait to come back and watch this special place grow. Hands down, the most magical campground we’ve ever visited!

Amazing river spot! Will be back! I did a solo camp trip (with my dogs) at Flat Rock in early August 2025. Claude was quick to respond to my questions before arrival and helped me choose the best spot for my needs. It was pretty easy to find and my phone had reception there to. The site was large, private and right next to the river w/ pine trees soft dirt and ferns surrounding you. Very magical! The view from the site was 10/10 Bald eagles soared over my site all day and I could see them fishing and bathing in the river. The river was very low due to no rain this summer but my dogs and I still enjoyed jumping in the large swimming hole to cool off. I floated in the tube for a while and sunbathed on the warm rocks. There were a few kayaks and a canoe to take up the river as well. The bugs are crazy at sundown make sure you have somewhere bug proof to go! I'm sure a fire would have helped but I didn't make one because it was 95° that day!

A super unique stay!

If you want a super unique and different camping experience, the suspension tent is it! The site itself is so beautiful with the water flowing along the edge of the site itself. Claude also offered up some kayaks and canoes to explore up the river a bit which was gorgeous! The fire area has a really convenient grill set up which made making food so much easier than just an open fire. The only thing I’d note is the other sites were much closer than I realized through seeing the pictures and the suspended tent is much higher up than I realized. Ultimately I had to put a cooler under the free hanging ladder to get in and out of the tent safely but overall it’s such a fun and cool experience to have!

Great spot with everything you need

We loved camping at Flat Rock! We stayed at Toddy and it was perfect for us, our two dogs, and small pop-up. The site had everything we needed to include firewood and was a short walk to the super clean porta potty. The view from this site is wonderful and its just a short walk to the water (which our dogs loved). If you're dogs are well behaved off leash they will love this site as much as you will! Claude was an excellent host who responded to our questions and late arrival notice in a timely manner. We would recommend this site to all who want to escape into Maine for a weekend. It's also a short 1 hour drive to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor with lots to see along the way! Camp here! 10/10 would recommend

Best car camping experience we’ve ever had! My kids went bonkers when they saw the suspension tent. We all slept like babies in our little hammock nest in the trees. The tiki torches were giving Survivor vibes and made us feel like we were castaways on a tropical island. Really appreciated the well-stocked supply of dry firewood, the large square picnic table that held all our gear, and the fire ring with its ample cooking grill. But the best part of the site is the creek and surrounding rocks, pools and pond, perfect for swimming and basking in the sun. My son and I paddled the kayaks upstream and found a beaver dam and a mating pair of bald eagles who were just chilling on a rock 20 ft from us eating fish. My son also caught dozens of pumpkin seed sun fish. Magical! We will definitely be back.

Claude’s land was by far above and beyond what we expect expected. Just a beautiful piece of property and wonderfully maintained sites. Claude was very responsive and extremely accommodating. My family had a blast at his Hip Camp.
